I remember doing my first head gasket. It was my first car a ‘90 dodge Daytona I got for $200. Dropped a rocker bolt through the head into the oil pan. It was the last one too. I was maybe 2 hours from starting this car. Took 2 days and a whole lot of frustration to get the new oil pan gasket to stay put during install. Lesson learned
Solid video I’m Going to do the same thing with stock cam gears but I’m switching all my internals to mimic the p73 including the ecu. Picked these cams because they are legal For me in California and also did the skunk2 manifold 🔥 👍🏾
I have a USDM GSR wtih a usdm b18C.. jdm header/downpipe, stock IM. I've been wanting to add type r cams (or skunk2, i guess)..what other mods/tweaks are needed to get the most of it and protect the engine?
How exactly did that pin get past the 4 pistons in the block ?? Making its way to oil pan is expected but not before landing on top of your piston, just cant figure this out after seeing it inside oil pan and nothing in bottom end was removed ?
Ur a beast man! Have had my gsr for 12 years now rebuilt to oem specs and man now i know what i paid for to get done. Thanks for sharing. And much respect. I think this was harder than the turbo install. Looking to do a similiar setup in the near future. How is ur avg mpg btw? And at how many lbs ?
D S this setup all motor got roughly 35 mpg. Now that it is boosted it runs at 10 psi peak and if i dont get on it i still get about 35 mpg. It all depends on how often and how much i get into it, boost requires a lot more fuel so it can change it drastically
My stock LMA where fine. I upgraded to the spring type because they generally run quieter and with higher lift cams the spring type help rebound the rocker faster
Yes, that is what i was saying, it was a passive comment for the smart ass youtube trolls who were going to say i needed adjustable cam gears. Although, i did install adjustable cam gears later on and i gained a respectable amount of midrange without sacrificing any top end power just by closing the overlap by a couple degrees. Took it from a 14sec car to a 13 sec car
@@maxherman4174 But Skunk2 recommends to upgrade them regardless, if my memory serves correct. I thought you went cause of street driven. I'm starting to do research since I can finally move onto upgrading the inside of the engine. Good video though. Thanks.
HaterHurter sirG345 lol, exactly. I was just being sarcastic for the “experts” who usually comment and tell me im wrong because they read it in a forum somewhere.
poloi poloi1988 Alot of people use S2 pro stage 1 for turbo. Honestly, for turbo anything other than the OEM cams aren’t really necessary unless your going for some crazy high power
William Yang GSR transmissions are great. But i like the LS trans. People think LS trans cant be fast because the long gear ratios but that’s actually false. It all depends on your powerband. Thats my opinion. If i were doing auto cross or something I would for sure use a gsr trans
It’s not dumb using stock cam gears. We do it all the time. More reliable.
How is it more reliable if it’s not forged forged cam gears would be stronger no?

You don’t have to remove rocker rod for LMA’s only have to remove cams. Just replaced some today in a GSR head
what lma did u use btw?

This ain’t the first head you pulled apart lol. Nice man!!
Thanks for your videos and time bro, this really help me out. Im planning to turbo my 99 jdm b18cr.

Inspiring, I want to learn how to get on this level
The stock cam gears are stronger anyways im getting these cams next year 🎉
just got your self another subscriber dope shit bro
Bro nice video, thanks for the info and knowledge of this! I definitely learned something!
Is the type r b18c the same motor as yours?
This is a great video. Awesome job!
Ωmega Ruhe thanks
Wow your really fast with that bit driver!! Wow is that 12v or 20v?
Yo the #3 vtec O-ring you had to replace... I lost mine. Do you know what it's called?
Great video props to you

Work smarter not harder good work
Aren't you gonna put them cam caps back where they came from or nahh just yank em and put em back in.....
Nice work man
No Budget Racing thanks!
Whats the difference between the stages 1,2,3 camshafts
Higher lift, more duration. Skunk2 website will give you the exact specs

so ur LMA is making noise thats why you replaced it?

You dont need adjustable cam gears with these cam they are drop in cams!!!

@@maxherman4174 dam, that's good to know bro
Why you went with stage 1 compared to stage 2?
I did not want to have to upgrade springs and retainers

Hey Max Herman. I have a b20vtec. Will i need to upgrade valvetrain when adding tuner1s
your not a dumb ass bro the tuner ones are like pretty much stock idle jus slite upgrade tuner 2 and pro series is a def need adjustables.
HaterHurter sirG345 lol, exactly. I was just being sarcastic for the “experts” who usually comment and tell me im wrong because they read it in a forum somewhere.
Max Herman keep doing your good in ny book!
How much do you think you’re pushing ?
There is a dyno video of this setup on my channel. It made 196whp 137wtq. Later it made 198whp with a bigger intake & throttle body
No valve adjustment?????
Go watch part 2
What website you got your headers?
1320performance.com
I lube new camshafts. To each his own
James Newton i put assy lube on the journals of the cam caps. Just hard to see on camera
Good shit bro. I watched a few of your vids keep em coming
Preciate it
which type of sk2 cam for turbo build??
poloi poloi1988 Alot of people use S2 pro stage 1 for turbo. Honestly, for turbo anything other than the OEM cams aren’t really necessary unless your going for some crazy high power
ok bro,,,cause my setup is b16a head with itR CAM SPRING AND RETAINER...B18Cr BLOCK..HOLSET SUPER HX40 HYBRID WITH BILLET...
Type r cams are nice, sk2 p1 are a beast, need to degree tho
Ls transmission, just get a gsr one

Ls gear are stronger if your motor is strong enough to push the gear.
