I wish Fr. Mike would randomly pop up from behind my couch like Hey Anna, let's pray today! lol I would die laughing and then he'd be there to read me my last rites 🤣
I always tell my boys that the only way to truly have super powers in the real world is to become a priest and be able to transform bread and wine into Jesus!
Very cool, guys. As a Catholic and comic book fan, you hit why I’m drawn to the characters like Superman, Green Lantern, and Spider-man. I’ve wished to be Superman and help others, but a recent comic book made it easier than flying around and helping hundreds of people in one day. Superman fed a homeless person and just asked that guy to pay it forward. We can all do that, despite not having superpowers.
I always saw the saints as real superheroes when i was little. Saint Benedict and his powers of atomic manipulation. Saint Cristobal with his superstreath. Saint Clement with his powers of psicoanalysis. I really liked this.
@@DaltonHBrown Atomic manipulation is the name for altering the particles of an object. He turned the poison in the wine and turned it to blasts of blood and destroyed the vase of steel bending it like paper.
Fr. Mike mentioned that batman was heracy because he became strong all on his own, however I would argue that that is not true. He always has had people that helped him weather his mentors and teachers, Robin his sideckic, and Alfred, who is so inportant, that Batman would not be able to continue to be the hero that he is without him. This is seen when Alfred tackes Buce Waynes palace during meetings, and does so much more behind the secnes, he also provides Batman with much needed emotional Suport in his times of need.
Great video. I can’t understand why certain Christians make the claim that they are demonic? I think it’s a cool way for people to see that there’s a battle between good and evil. There’s a few comic book characters who are Catholic on both sides of the main comic books Marvel and DC. If anything, it gives kids the idea of sacrifice, morals (good vs bad), the existence of something higher than us and that we all have individual talents that God has given us.
I do not think they are demonic, however, I can't help but think a lot of them aren't much better then pornography. I was reading a starlord comic once, and all the female characters were wearing really tight, sexual outfits. As Catholics, is this really a good thing for us to be looking at?
Just sharing. My faves: 1. DC solo - Supes 2. DC Team - JSA 3. Marvel solo - Bug ( micronauts) 4. Marvel team - Guardians of the Galaxy ( Abnett and classic)
I love to keep watching my fav smiling people in the world together!!! Thank you!!! Jesus must be so happy because you, his fav friends, come together to give us such a message! Christ love us and is alive! :)
I started collect about 10 years ago and at first, my wife had a issue with it. I then told her, "I could be addicted to far much worse things". She changed her tune. She knows were I am, I don't go to crazy with spending, and it's a great hobby.
While you could be addicted to far worse things, you could be addicted to far more innocent things. I have nothing against entertainment or collecting, it's just a lot of characters in superhero comics and movies wear over-sexulized skimpy costumes. It's a sad reality, most of my family and friends are into the mcu, but our lord said the road to heaven is straight and narrow.
Nice video (great intro) but I'm confused at what the point was. I don't think most people need to be told that fiction is still just fiction and we should focus on God (amen). But I also feel that you're almost putting down the thematic complexity of a lot of stories and the effort that goes into them. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Jesus over anything any day, but not every fiction story is escapist. Also, I don't like when people paint the comic book medium with the same brush. I love superheroes, and the American comics industry is filled with them, but there are so many varied comics of every genre. If you want some Catholic works, I'd recommend American Born Chinese, Boxers+Saints, Mister Miracle, Mattéo, and Daredevil: Born Again (I'll admit I haven't gotten around to all these yet lol but I've heard good things about the ones I haven't read). God bless!
Thanks men! I totally agree with you. A comic book is ficticious in it's own way. But the word of God is the reality we need to pay attention to. Now if those comic books were a radio play, as many old comic books were, it would be easy to escape reality. ESPECIALLY if the actor is a good one creating the radio theater of the mind! Here's a thought - create a bible radio play! BTW - love that desk behind Fr. Mike. A roll top?
I would love to hear your thoughts on Dungeons and Dragons. My understanding of it is that it is another way to tell stories just like how Tolkien told the story of The Lord of the Rings; It is simply in a different format than paper.
I always admired fictional characters imagined myself in the sad stories being the hero who makes it better and teaching the fictional characters of Jesus. I wondered if that was sin because I’m not doing it in real life for real people enough, but I guess fiction is inspiration/ practice for the real world. Thank you for this video Father.
Thanks. Coz' superheroes are glimpses of the powers of angels and our powers when we get our glorified bodies:) I can't wait (but it'll be hard, sainthood is the hardest but not impossible). God bless, Proverbs 31
I used to love Marvel and DC Comics. Saddly, they're about gender ideology and PC culture and not really inspiring anymore. Great video, but romantic about comics.
From what I've gathered, Shazam is following that line of thinking of the sacrificial love as the main character is looking for family and what he does to protect them. He has some growing up to do, but it sounds like he does grow up.
@@RoseBaggins And apparently some humor involving a strip club? Yes, they exist, but should they be used as a joke? They are a truly revolting reality and do not belong in what is meant to be innocent entertainment, such as a super hero movie.
HAHA! Fr. Mike, jumps into the frame like a Muppet.
Danny Schneible I'd really like to see what he'll be like when he's about 80 or 90😂
Yes, n his expression too.. i cant help not to laugh.. fr. Mike is older than Bobby right?
Another Ascension cinematic universe cross over? Heck yes!
And perfect timing with Endgame coming up!!! 🙌🏽
I wish Fr. Mike would randomly pop up from behind my couch like Hey Anna, let's pray today! lol I would die laughing and then he'd be there to read me my last rites 🤣
Now we need a Fr. Mike and Fr. Mark-Mary crossover!
Joe Kaminski yes!!!!!!
Oh 😞!! I can not LOVE it. Lol. GREAT IDEA!!!
I always tell my boys that the only way to truly have super powers in the real world is to become a priest and be able to transform bread and wine into Jesus!
That's awesome!
Well that's a completely man made doctrine as 99% of catholicism is
Paganism
As a Catholic and comic creator, I love seeing episodes like this!

LOVED IT! Now all that we need is a collab between Jackie and Sister Miriam James!!!
Alba Blanco my thoughts exactly!
I was wainting for Bobby to say "i am groot" instead!!! XDD I love how he gets exited. I really love comic books❤️📚
Bobby: With great power-
Fr. Mike: -anything but the rest of the quote.
That was so funny!
This was such a great video!

How blessed to have Father Mike stop by for a visit!!!

I'm a Christian and I Love a good story about a Hero,
then again, our whole Faith is based around that

With that chin, Fr Mike could be Batman😉👍
Or a game show host!!!
Much love Fr Mike!!!
I've heard that he once tested for the role of Robin in the movies.
Oh I love this~! 2 of the greatest guys! Blessings galore, Alexandra
cool, crossover with fr. mike.

I echo one of the comments for a collab between Jackie and Sr Miriam James Heidland
Comics of my age, Bronze age, told gripping tales with underlying moral messages. Such as, "With great power, comes great responsibility."

I agree with all of this.
This is fantastic.

did you guys see Shazam yet?
hope you'll also enjoy Endgame :)
I'm not going to see endgame as I've heard it uses the Lord's name in vain.
Oh my gosh! Yes!!!

What do you guys think about John Constantine?
The woman refers to Catniss. What is that? A movie? A comic book?
Sandy Beach the main character of the Hunger Games, a book trilogy that was made into a movie series
St Clare is secretly the first Green Lantern of Earth.

To me the original Superman story is most connected to the story of Jesus
