This video was extremely helpful to me because, I am currently a marine electrician who have worked on submarines and navy surface ships. I also worked as a copy machine technician and a nuclear instrumentation technician - submarines. I am about to switch career over to automobile electrical diagnostics.
I do understand how electrical and electronic circuits work however, there seem to be different symbols in the automotive industry, so that's the part i'm really concerned about. I do have some experience on electric vehicles (transit buses) so I feel confident that my past experience in electrical and electronic troubleshooting will transfer over to the automotive field. I will be working strictly on Mercedes models beginning in January therefore is trying to get up to speed with the different symbols and color codes used in automotive schematics.
This video has been extremely helpful as I said before therefore I will most certainly check out your other videos.

Madness! I studied in Soviet Union electro-technical school. And now sure- that fundamental education was the best. To read el. diagram one must know:
    -elements,lines
-divide diagram on (power circuits, signal mv-t, control circuits etc)
    - and last: to read montage scheme

Neon...this circuit does have a return. It is the green wire that he talks about. When the relay is energized (switch closed) the power is sent from the positive terminal and the electrons flow from the return through the load to the positive terminal of the power source.
The only issue I have with this explanation is that there are no set standards for wire colors (it depends on the specifics of what the schematic is addressing (ie...automotive, circuit cards, computers etc...)) . The ground wire is usually black and not "green" in DC circuits. Positive is not always the color red. This explanation might give people a false sense of trying to identify voltages.

Maybe you get to it later, but I sure wish I had an idea of what all the numbers & symbols mean on a diagram, especially when the manual doesn't offer a novice any idea what all this means, ie Diagram 1...A61 18, then A141 18 then numbers surrounding fuel pump module 1 motor symbol 8 then Z1 18. I could guess the number 18 is the wire gauge, but the other letter/number combinations. And yes, I intend to contribute to your channel. I"m just learning. Thanks!

Good choice and your timing is great. The auto repair field is advancing faster than many of us old guys can keep up with. We need you and your future is bright. There are all sorts of things you can do like working for shops and learning as you go. But the one thing you will always need is TRAINING. Approach it with an open mind, not like a know it all. As you begin, work for different types of shops (engine, transmission, electrical, body, etc) until you find what really interests you. Also, our trade is rapidly becoming technical so get as much IT type train as you can. All of our stuff is now interlaced with computers so the more you can learn about that field the better off you will be.

Hey Chief Realfixesrealfast! not more than a minute in and I had to pause to say this, we are of like mind... The examples, visuals, verbiage and most importantly the cadence and pace you are exemplifying is gratifying to say the least! I hope you are a teacher in a everyday capacity, the next generation and the world would be a better place if so.
If you haven't heard of a site called Kahn Academy I would hope that you would look at it and consider submitting your tutorials for additional distribution, saying that with out knowledge of their monetary model for content providers, it is free for all though.
