- *UPDATE - Engine made 875rwhp NA on methanol on the dyno, 1090rwhp on the E85 Nitrous.
This engine has been very painful to deal with as it hasnt been reliable for a good 2 years now, there is always something stuffing up and the wait times on getting it back are generally big so the car has been living on jackstands 90% of the time. I am looking to turn this thing around fast in future by building and assembling it myself as I always want everything done yesterday and I have found that generally all engine builders are flat out so it was really my only option moving forward to have a crack doing it myself for once. In total it took my just 9 days from when I started cleaning the block to in the car running so Im very happy it all worked out and I am very keen to go and smash some tyres. It has been 12months since mcfry did an event now, it has been that long. - Авто та транспорт
Couple of tips
Engraving arrows on caps mains and rods
And the bores when cleaning
Paper towels and keep wiping till the towels come out with no black in them or any material at all
Plus get some engine brushes
And you can attach to a drill use with a good detergent and clean all bores all oil galleries and water jackets then when you think it’s clean do it all all again
An engine can never be to clean
Mate you do everything else I'm sure you will be just fine.
The only way to go bud✌
If you’re going to be doing your own motors you need a dedicated room to do them in. That’s a bit less lawn to mow as well😂
Haha I don't know what im doing half the time but the ute now has an exhaust valve not sealing so thats another job. Really never ends with them, I think 500lift hydralic flat tappet cams with 10:1comp would make them all reliable like the 308.
Sure u have the skills
Great work man.🎉 I so hope you're going to the summernats
Awesome build mate. See y'all in Canberra
I am but just spectating
Good job man.
Random bolts hanging out in the middle of the intake ports 😅 universal specs on the kit or something.
Just mega ported Id say
what could go wrong atleast its not an expensive motor hahaha
Should save you some time. Is your regular engine builder too busy to do the build this time?
Yes and no but it just wasn't really working out, I think im better off doing my own when I can atleast.
That inlet manifold needs to be machined do it fits correctly
It fits fine, it has always been like that. Lines up to the ports perfectly.
I do believe your using the ring grinder wrong. Your supposed to push the ring lightly towards the roller's on the grinder wheel with one hand and use whatever to turn it. Your squeezing the ring into the wheel on top of the rollers. I don't see how the gap would be square. Thats the way I've seen all the builders that have that style.
Probably, I did watch a video on making sure ring gaps are square but didnt really take much notice on using it. I got them all within 2thou of each other and made sure they were square so should be fine.
You know how to paint, install, wire, whats assembling a motor? 😂
Just more time really, crazy what's involved in building a car. I've found its just nice to have someone help at doing anything to make it easier.
