Powercruise QLD in LOOKOUT was short lived with a rocker failure

  • I was pretty frustrated when I seen my valve hanging out of my header pipe on day 1 of Powercruise but thats just how frustrating cars can be. A Jesel rocker was the cause and now the ute will be out of action again for months waiting for parts again and replacing all the rockers with T&D Steel so we never have this issue again.

    hi mate . I am one of those guys that gave up , was going to go to power cruise last week and found faulty work that caused damage to the car . I spent over $100.000 on my ute and no mater where I got stuff done I got screwed and no warranty. I asked I wanted work done my way and they never did and the engine builder build a engine I asked him to look at and give me a report as I thought the bore size was to big as I took it off another engine builder as it just sounded suspicious to me . the new engine builder was on holiday in America and got back 4 days before 24 th December . he messaged me engine was ready for pick up on the morning of the 24 . I asked was everything fine and he said yes . I was stunned as he never phoned to talk to me before he build the engine . on start up the engine tuner told me the engine is down on compression and the bore must be on large size as engine is noisy. I was only ever after 600 hp in a barra turbo . so it never needed that tolerance and he never did as I asked . I think he just needed money after the holiday and build my engine as it was easy money . I got taken for a ride by so many people that I just ended up selling my pride and joy after 14 years for $15.000 and everything I done to the car is immaculate. I spent 4 years all up on 2 builds and lost so much money and after the guy that fitted the box and made a mistake all he said did we even fit the box . I just left it at that and sold it . I hate cars now . my partners sons car , Hz kingswood has been sitting for 17 years as the same thing happened to him . over $40.000 on engine gearbox etc and he gave up as it all needed to be pulled apart as it was not done right and no warranty. he lost interest as well many years ago . I need a specialist to pull down the engine in my car as the new owner is going to get it build as the engine also got damaged due to the gearbox being fitted incorrectly. and I want them to size up the engine and if I can take the engine builder to small claims as he defamed my name as he made me apologise on a forum even though I was the victim and I did as I had no prove as the engine was still out off the car . but now the engine is coming out again and I want to take it further as he is a big name engine builder and so was the guy that fitted the gearbox. over 6 years I only drove the car for 12.500 klm and that was mostly cruising and some track time . my car is immaculate in every way but the engine work and other people work . I have so much more to say . thanks please help me

    Thanks for getting that footage up Nelson considering everything that happened...I was very interested to see how the utes first outing on a track went...very unfortunate what happened with the engine where something like a failed rocker can set off a chain of expensive and time consuming problems...Im not surprised a few things rattled loose with that much torque and hp....I was hanging on to my armchair while you sorted those thong throttle power stabs to steering wheel correction ratios...barrier looming!! Although the process is expensive give it some time and youll master it with a few changes and adjustments...If you can get the power to the ground on the quarter mile I reckon its going to raise some eyebrows....way up!

    Nothing like a blown bbc! Can’t believe those rockers keep failing on you like that… My 565 has T&D aluminum shaft rockers on it and so far so good… I only spin it to 6,800 though… Titanium valves hardened tips and lash is @ .020… Just curious what rear gear ratio do you run? My 3.89 doesn’t wanna give me the wheel speed I need for big smokies… Awesome ride brother! 👍

    Bummer about the damage. How bizarre to see the valve sitting out of the exhaust like that!
    2 questions:
    How do you like the IC7 dash now that you've used it? Do you have a chance to look at anything much, or is it more for the shift light and any warning alerts when you're on the track?
    Not being stupid with this last question. It sounded like the engine ran for a bit over a minute after you heard/felt something was wrong. Did you think it was just something like a header leak and that's why you kept driving it?
    I really really hope that the valve didn't dance around and smash your cylinder wall in that minute. Fingers crossed!!! Can't wait to see it up and running again. $5k for rockers - jeeeeeeeeeeezussssssssss!!!!!

      Ic7 dash is unreal, I won't go back to using gauges again. I ran the engine back to pits knowing something was wrong, usually when something like this happens I am just pissed off and want to burn it lol. The ute is just too loud to here yourself think so its hard to here if anything is wrong

      @@MCFRYMotorsport Haha, yeah I understand about the noise and about just getting the ute back to the pits to deal with it there. Thanks for your answer about the IC7. I've bought one but the build's not finished yet. Great to hear it was a good purchase. All the best mate.

    I’d de pin all the rocker’s and re size for a proper interference fit with clips surely any machinist with a bit of skill could sort that for ya, still a shame though they are a bit like a valve spring remover without the roller it’s lucky it didn’t completely grenade!

    • @MCFRYMotorsport
      @MCFRYMotorsport  Рік тому +1

      Jesel has fixed the problem installing a c clip pin so it can't walk out but only recently. I asked for them to install those in these exhaust rockers which seem to have an issue with the pins but they are now not replying. They did straight up point the finger at me but hoping they come to the party and fix this shit so when I sell them thr next person doesn't have this drama

    • @needmoreboost6369

      @@MCFRYMotorsport its a pain when you fork out for something reputable especially for a brand with “support”but it works out goin against you! But 5k for a set fk that unless you are competitive racing! What’s the seat pressure on those springs? They don’t look like rocker eaters, maybe press the rest of the pins out and any discrepancies in the pressure used to remove them could indicate inconsistencies in their machining but that’s just to point the finger back at them

    • @MCFRYMotorsport
      @MCFRYMotorsport  Рік тому

      @@needmoreboost6369 it sucks man as honestly these rockers should have been fine for the job so its just another huge outlay to bulletproof the valvetrain. The springs are around 820ftlbs open pressure with this camshaft or maybe even less so nothing mental. They did reply to me this morning but still not taking on any responsibility for them.

      @@MCFRYMotorsportI’m pretty sure you will have it sorted despite the setbacks, judging by the quality and dedication you have put into this so far!. And seeing it screaming again will be anticipated by quite a few,it’s inspiring for a lot of people seeing this weapon and no doubt Aussie tyre companies appreciate cars like this too lol

      I just didn't want to pay 5k for bulletproof rockers, one failed but I didnt think it was going to be an ongoing thing. Its just mental how much it costs nowdays to build an engine with the best of everything.
