Pillows - learn to sew people, they are easy. You can order a yard from virtually every furniture website. Or learn to do needlework or quilt. You can then make them removable for seasonal changes, or a refresh. Buy thrifted ones in two sizes and remove the tacky covers, wash the inserts, or fabric stores have inserts too. Same with vases, learn to paint the thrifted finds, scuff sand, prime, even texturize them.
ALMOST every hack Lisa discussed can be sourced from Thrift Stores. Unique and high quality items for pennies on the dollar. The only exception in my experience are the throw pillow collection. Pillows are often at thrift stores but stumbling upon the quantity/size/color, etc which one has in mind for their space is usually next to impossible. But everything else--including fabulous lighting fixtures, can be had for a song by thrifting. :)
@@tslilbearshoppe9870 Yes!! I've done that with Christmas/Winter themed throw pillows...:) Thrifted the pillows, which were high quality but ugly--lol---washed/sanitized them, then found covers on Amazon. This saves storage space as well. :)

Here in the United States, the concept of thrifting has gained huge momentum over the past five years or so....for many it's now somewhat of a 'badge of honor" and something to brag about if people "Ooh and Aww' when they're in a beautifully curated space...."I only paid $20 for THAT!!" LOL

One can thrift a high quality pillow, regardless of its color, etc.; give it a good cleaning, then cover it with a case which matches their decor. :) Saves storage space, too----especially for those who like changing up their throw pillows for the different seasons. :)
@@karenokeane6461 We do have second hand stores and thrifting is definitely starting to become a thing here too but the items are overpriced and bad quality. So its a lot of say walmart brand used clothing and the furniture too and its expensive. And yeah Usa is next level amazing for thrifting, I would go with my mum in Utah and the things I would find was so beautiful. Actually I think they opened a Savers here in Sydney but its rubbish.
SO Many thoughts on this one! I do lots of deep dives into what the visual algorithms serve up to us, and what folks actually find meaningful and impactful in their spaces and their lives. Creating intentional and inspiring spaces is so important, beyond the screen in our hands! Love it!

It seems to be hard to find coffee tables, kitchen cabinets, and vanities like the ones in the pictures on Pinterest and Houzz. They must be custom made pieces, especially the floating bathroom vanities.
i have been looking for a walnut coloured cabinet, or a coolish type of brown, for the tv for a long time. I Would not even know how to approach someone to make one and where the wood would come from.
You'll often see fabulous coffee tables in the second hand market. Thrift Stores, FB Marketplace, etc. Unique designs and high quality pieces are not uncommon finds in those venues.
@@razamughal4582in New York we have gothic cabinet and they make whatever you want. In wood or mdf whatever. Any way you want it. Go to a custom cabinet maker. Draw what you want measure and bring your own hardware. Knobs pulls wheels hinges etc. you can do custom lighting or have holes made to put in wiring for lighting or plugs for TVs game consoles. Etc.
I always notice in South African Woolworths shops that the deli style fridges have side mirrors to enlarge the stock and make it look as though there is an infinite amount of food for sale. Truly a fake dupe for try out if you want to enlarge a narrow area. Visually disconcerting if you wear glasses!!! You can walk into them or scuff your toes if floor length.
I thought decorative pillows were common knowledge! Maybe that’s just because they seem outrageously expensive for what they are, which means people must be desperate enough to buy them. I love the idea of the found object. I’ve always wanted a sculpture or freestanding art piece in my space for some visual interest, but it’s never quite worked when I’ve tried. But I haven’t given up! 😄

My no.1 tip is..... avoid plastic at all costs. Try & make all your décor to be made of natural materials. At the very least, your mess will look prettier....

You’re absolutely on the nail. I can’t believe that I actually instinctively has all this. I curated my space with biophilic design, change my decorative pillows monthly to reflect the season and interest. Always changing my coffee table styling to reflect the cushions and definitely use the trays, vases and stack of interesting coffee table books to add to the story. Candles is another must have. Found objects carefully arranged really make the space from a cookie space, to a more personal interesting space, and when combined with layer objects can really elevate your space. However learning from the professionals is the best tips. Kudos to you and the team.
Fresh cut(or silk) blooms always elevate a space. Well cared for houseplants as well. Lighting is key for mood and relaxation. Natural lighting should never be blocked. (Feng shui states that mirrors should never face doors or windows)
