Great Job my man. I was just trying to find out about replacing mine a couple of weeks ago. You are right on time with this one... In my opinion. Keepem coming.
I was waiting on this one . You and I discuss this on a previous video when you changed the coolant. I changed mine when I changed my coolant. Good job as always
Thanks for the video. I just replaced mine. Check engine light is still on and now the temp fluctuates a lot more than I ever noticed as well as the fan seems louder and stays on longer after turning the car off.
Thanks for making this video.I just replace my thermostat today.unfortunately I broke the bleeder screw underneath the water tray.I tighten it too much on the 3rd n final bleed.
I went to a wrecking yard locally that sold Maserati parts.they sold me the that bleeder housing with hoses for $50 .I Changed the part and to be on the safe side I went threw the long ass bleeding process again .Thanks again for making this video.
Another Great Video! Thank you so Much, Always enjoyable & informative. I am no longer afraid of repairing my 2018 after watching your videos. In future videos, can you show us a close up of the Part that you are replacing. I was trying to understand the orientation and head size of the screws you didn't want to drop. :-) Additionally, you didn't tell us, How you discovered the leak/pinhole. Had you noticed a few drops on the floor , no heat or running low on coolant? Also, another video may be to show us what you use to clean your rims, the wax/ and dash treatment you use before a car show. Do you clean/wipe the engine compartment?
I do frequent, close and thourough inspections of my engine bay area as well as underneath whenever I put it on the Quick Jack. I found the leak during one of my inspections. I use a 9000 lumin flash light when I do my inspections. My inspections always include fluid checks. So I noticed a slight drop in coolant, like a couple millimeters. That clued me in that something may be leaking coolant. I intensified my search. Finally found it on the thermostat housing.
Hi James, I’m doing a thermostat on a Ghibli tomorrow and one of the things that always scare me on any car is leaving air bubbles is the system. How do I bleed the coolant system on the ghibli without a vacuum tool?
Yes. You don't have to completely drain the system, but you may as well do it anyhow. So it's a Coolant Change. Can't hurt anything and you don't save any time or money by partially draining it. I put a link to my Coolant Change video in the description.
Hi I have a Maserati ghibli S 2014 and the cooland reservoir leak so I have the OEM part but I dont know how to remove. Can you please explain. I appreciate your help.
Hi James, may I ask you some questions, why did you change this thermostat. This engine is similar to the levante, and I am having a issue with Over heating when on long run high load. Meaning over 100km and push the car hard, it starts to over heat, but quickly the temperature starts to come down when I back off... so why did you change your.one
There was a pin hole leak in it. My SQ4 has never overheated. I suggest you take it to a good mechanic so he can diagnose why you Levante is overheating. Thats not a good thing.
@@JamesDIYGarage can a thermostat get stuck in open/close position, meaning it open yet closed, hence under normal conditions, it won't over heat but under High load it over heats, but the temperature quickly comes down to half
@@DHM202 If stuck open it would take a lot longer to warm up and it would not over heat. In fact it would run too cool. If stuck closed yes it would over heat very quickly because there is no water flow. But it would not cool off. The thermostat is closed when you start your engine and is supposed to allow the engine to warm up quickly then opens at a certain temp. It close again if running too cool. Your thermostat could be stuck in half closed position restricting flow but but not stopping it. It's easy to replace the thermostat. If you do not want to spend the money to have it diagnosed at a shop, (not necessarily the dealership) then you can take a chance and replace it. If it does not fix it, you can then have it properly diagnosed. Personally I would have properly diagnosed. Then fix it myself if I can.
Hello James. As always, thank you so much for these videos. Please don’t get a new car until I get rid of mine🤣 Anywho, I have a question totally unrelated to this video. I am having the HARDEST time finding windshield wipers for my 2015 SQ4. Yes, wipers. Something so simple has become a problem. Do you have a product number or link that I can go to, to get the right blades? Scuderia charges almost the same price as the blades to import them. Thank you so much.
I have a p0128 code indicating that my 2018 Quattroporte was running below temperature. Shortly after I started getting O2 lean burn & cylinder misfire codes.I was told change my thermostat to fix it or could it be the ECT sensor?
Great Job my man. I was just trying to find out about replacing mine a couple of weeks ago. You are right on time with this one... In my opinion. Keepem coming.
Glad I could help
Thanks for the video. This helped me fix my P0128 code.
FWIW, I was able to swap it without disconnecting the smaller hose clamp in front.
Cool. Thanks for letting me know. Saved another Ghibli Owner a bunch of money and time without their car.
Your videos are so helpful thank you
You are so welcome!

Did you get all the air out of system? Does it run hotter or cooler than usual?
What size and brand are the hose clamps? I am replacing mine soon.
I got them on Amazon. The link to my order is no longer valid. Just look for Norma Clamps.
Hey James!! Good work
Thank you.

I just had my rims powder coated last year. So they clean and shine easily, I do wipe my engine bay down, with plastic trim cleaner moisturizer.

I have a 2015 Maserati Quattroporte SQ4 where did u get your thermostat from and the part number
Go to scuderiacarparts.com and lookup your car there. It will be in the engine section.
Ok thanks
Quick question do you have any clue where the coolant temperature sensor is???
It's on the right side of the radiator.
How much did u get the parts for
The thermostat is www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/435151/maserati/330424/thermostat-assembly.html
Yep. Thats what I paid.

You want to change the coolant on Turbo Charged Euro engines every 30-40K miles or so anyway.
It's only been like 10K since my last coolant change.
