    I've used previous models, liked them. No sleeve yeah. Currently on Zowie GTF-X now. Bit of extra control feels better with my mid-high sens. It's good they added more support on base so you can't curve it. The name change though... Also I though they were mentioning potential control pad so interesting they made another evolution of speed one.

    The skypad has improved my aim immensely due to to being a high sensitivity player who plays mostly tracking heavy games, however the dust/scraping issue is so annoying (my brand new stock skates were scraping after just 2 days and there was literally no way to stop it) that I would never consider using one without dot skates which pretty much dispense with the issue.

      @@opfreakThe benefit of more friction is that you have more stability at the end of a flick. On fast glass pads you will always shake a bit it you flick fast. Yeah maybe in theory you could train to get rid of that just like in theory a higher sens would allow you to flick faster but in practice but all the aim trainer guys who specialize in static clicking recommend and play on slow pads with a super low sens.
      The logic that lower friction is better only really applies for tracking. There I'd say it's reasonable to get used to super low friction so that it's only beneficial.

  • @dotexe3426
    @dotexe3426 6 місяців тому +29

    Low - 0 Friction is better for increasing your overall mouse control. That is not to say you can't get good control using any other pads. However having full control of your mouse without any added friction forces you to have good control with minimal room for error so you tend to develop better mouse control faster and helps rid of bad habits that can form when using other pads. Think of glass pads as training pads because i can guarantee if you use a glass pad for any reasonable amount of time your aim and overall mouse control will improve.

    • @Killuminatix
      @Killuminatix 7 місяців тому +5

      It might be the different batches of Skypad 3.0 making us all have different results too, not necessarily the Skypad 4.0. My first early batch white 3.0 is insanely fast compared to the Yume Skypad 3.0 I got way later (I bought my first white 3.0 the day it released so very early) When my Skypad 4.0 arrived it had noticeably more dynamic friction than my early batch white 3.0. 🗿 (using obsidian red skates)

    • @boardzy
      @boardzy  7 місяців тому +3

      @@Killuminatix I thought about this as well. Because going off memory my OG white 3.0 felt close to the 4.0 but I gave it away. The textured/printed later versions which i showed are definitely slower

      @Killuminatix 7 місяців тому

      Yes 100% agree. I Still have both and I havent played on my printed Skypad 3.0 more than once because of how much slower it is than Og white 3.0. My take is that were all just schitzoing about different 4.0 surfaces when the real culprit is the different Skypad 3.0 batch surfaces we are comparing the new 4.0 to. Many that has early batch 3.0s seems to experience their 4.0s being slower or similar when compared. @boardzy

    TLDR: Air Purifier (Good Quality one) should drastically reduce the dust problem.
    Long Story:
    I own a blacktop adjustable desk and desperately wanted to figure out a dust-reduced/free way to maintaining my desk. Bare in mind, I do also own the DATAVAC Electric Duster (100% so worth it btw), but just the slight accumulation of dust after being away from my desk for 2 days bothered me. Found an Air Purifier and the cleanliness of my room / desk was improved significantly! I still use the DATAVAC Electric Duster to brush off those minute little dust I can barely see just for the sake of.

    The reason that lower friction = better is because the lower the friction the more you are relying on your own abilities to stop the mouse. If you have have a cloth mouse pad it is going to be easier to stop a mouse and you won't have the pin point precision that is required from the skypad's. Overall I feel that the Skypad 3.0 has made my aim better in the long run because I better understand how to control my mouse rather than easily stopping where I want because of friction.

    • @AmiciCherno
      @AmiciCherno 4 місяці тому

      It’s definitely a trade off of whether you want more friction to push against and allow to counterbalance your kinetic energy, or if you want less friction so that it’s easier to maneuver on the pad and you trade out the counterbalancing of the pad’s friction with your own applied friction by your hand and more intentional control over your muscles to stop your arm/hand at the target.

    I just got the boardzy edition of the wlbeast x and I'm loving it, one thing you you didn't touch on is how great the scroll wheel is. I used to use a lamzu atlantis and the scroll wheel on that was super light with practically no tactile notches which I hated even before it broke, compare that to the firm tactile wheel of the beast x. Also I think they fixed the balancing issues of the beast x because now it feels almost dead on.

    I remember the OG icemat back in like 2004 and there are just fundamental flaws with glass (and indeed, all hard pads) that cannot be avoided when a grain of dust appears mid flick, to the point where the performance of the surface when it's pristine doesnt even matter because it's nearly anxiety inducing how jarring it is to have a grain of dust jamming into your skates. I guess enough time has passed that there's a new generation of people that need to learn this lesson.

      @@KeepAnOpenMind Cheers. I play mostly slashers at the moment (Chivarly 2, Mordhau), where you need to be precise with swing manipulation and have good control to do e.g. spins. I also play Halo Infinite tactical slayer, and anything else with low TTK. Low TTK games are the goat for me. But to the point, flicking in Halo sometimes doesn't work well for me, I tend to "overdrag" a bit. I was using obsidian reds dots, yesterday I switched to obsidian pro x wallhack collab dots and these fell bit better on the superglide. I am waiting for my ghostglides dots to arrive to check them out. Running Sora 4k with 3 dots at the back and 2 dots and the front, considering upgrading viper v3 pro. The KB is meletrix boog75, waiting for my wooting 80HE ;-)

    Super interesting. I have thousands of in game hours on my 3.0 , probably close to 50 in game hours on my SP4 I've tried using super worn in stock NP01 skates, brand new Puretrak Valor stock skates and the obsidian pro skates and all 3 were slower on my 4.0. There is also a noticeable break in period for me as the corners of my 4 are much slower than the center of the pad.🤔

    From a "faster is better" point of view, here's how I would explain it: first, the more tension in your aim, the less accurate you are according to Henneman's size principle (your smaller muscles used when using low tension aim are capable of much more precise micro adjustment than your stronger one). then, the less friction you have to overcome, the less force you have to input, resulting in faster acceleration.
    If we consider the acceleration on said pad as our bottleneck, the speed of a pad would define the skill ceiling.

    • @boardzy
      @boardzy  7 місяців тому +7

      So then why isn’t everyone using a plastic speed pads and glass skates? I don’t buy that anyways, simplifies aiming way too much

    • @ShaiOwO
      @ShaiOwO 7 місяців тому +1

      Getting a glass pad + new skates can be a pretty big investment, and it is definitely possible to become insane on a cloth/slower pad. Also, even tho glass pads are not mainstream, I am noticing more and more people using one
      Btw, my fault if I seemed to simplify aim to only speed :D

    • @Katze822228
