The Chinese knock off is very good & a lot cheaper. It includes 4 retractable feet on the base so you don't need to use the screws if you want to take a quick shot. 1/4 20 is standard too so you don't need an adapter.
Outrageously expensive, at least in the UK. If the price was more realistic I'd be very interested. But for £100 (accessory pack another £30) no chance! I'll stick with my Gorillapod and Slik mini.
...also currently in stock and in the store at Dale Photographic in Leeds, UK www.dalephotographic.co.uk/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=platypod&tm_submit_search= Available worldwide as well via our website at www.platypod.com and at B&H in New York!
Thank you so much for explaining the accessories.
I put off getting Platypods for a long time, now I can't live without them.
I love mine! Rich in every way. You pay for what you get and this is a quality product in every sense. Great demo video.
Excellent demo!

It's a piece of metal with screws. Way to expensive for what it is/does.
Stainless steel spikes held in by magnetic??? How stainless is not magnetic
if you look closely you will see that the magnet attaches to the locking ring and not to the spike itself.
