I lived in Sao Paulo and now live in Brasilia... Brasília is much more comfortable in terms of getting to point A to B, less crowded, less buildings and more wide open spaces that make you feel more comfortable... I live in neighborhood fairly close to the center and we barely have any news of mugs and robberys here

I lived in SP capital, and public transportation system took me wherever I wanted to go, no need
of a car. In Brasilia, where I live now, without a car you are lost! I love the nature here, the only city I know of, where from the center you can see the horizon! But planing of infrastructure was not the best!

@@albertoalmeida3424 Acho engraçado dizer "problemas que vocês causam" sendo que o Brasil inteiro é que vota nas pessoas que servem o país e que habitam aqui. A cidade apenas acolhe essas pessoas. Extremamente ignorante e desnecessariamente rude e agressivo o seu comentário. Os representantes do país são colocados aqui pela nação inteira e não têm nada a ver com o cidadão local.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay here in Brasilia! this is one of the most complete reviews I've seen, especially by bringing up the cost of living in nearby "cities" (we call them regiões administrativas) like Ceilândia and Águas Claras.
Overall Brasilia is a great city. We have our issues but it's far better than most cities in Brazil when it comes to violence, public services and quality of life. If you ever come back make sure to go to Eixão do Lazer on a Sunday, you'll love to hear artists perform chorinho, ride a bike and get some food/beer from the food trucks

One thing is certain: we do have a lot of space, and the buildings are low so you get to see the sky in all it's glory. Also, the vegetation around the city is really unique, it is called Cerrado. We also have tourist cities not far from here. Since we are surrounded by the state of Goiás, most of it is in cities like Formosa, Pirinópolis , Caldas Novas, Alto Paraíso. There three towns offer a lot trails and waterfalls that are really beautiful.

It is indeed a hidden gem. I guess the lack of beaches and other tourist magnets, coupled with the dry climate, keeps the hype away, and I love it that way. Some cities here in Brazil fell victim to the "hype", like João Pessoa, Camboriú, Búzios, Cabo Frio... And I hope that never happens to Brasília.

I live close by, in Alto Paraiso. I'am always amazed about how spacious Brasilia is compared with other big cities in Brazil. It's also quite safe, as how I experience it for example with Rio. Come there mostly for when I need to do do big shopping or when I need to catch a flight. Always try to stay there at least one night and walk around in the area of the government buildings. Somehow I find it impressive.

I lived in Brasília my whole life and I must say Brasília has be best climate in the world.
It is some work to get used to the dryness in the dry season (which lasts for 6 months average)
But once you do... You'll be amazed with 6 months of intense SUN where the sun is further away (this happens in winter)
And then in the rainy season is where the sun is supposed to be super hot, but then now we get air humidity and clouds to even things out.
So in sum: not a cold winter, not a hot summer.
I can get by with pants and a small hoodie all year round, never gets too hot or too cold, I find this completely amazing.
Other thing I must say is that it rarely rains in the mornings in the rainy season... even though we get a LOT of rain, completely disproportionated 6 months raining for when it should rain the whole year... But not in most mornings, so if you're an outdoorsy person, every morning is a good morning for a workout, basicaly. Specially if you live close to the Lake, which boosts life quality a lot, specially in the dry season.
    Cheers from Brazil, fellow youtubers

I live in Brasília, and I get why people from outside visit and and do not think much of it. Not a great place for tourists. But let me tell you, Brasilia is one of the best cities to live in the world. I'm aware that there's a lot of disparity, surrounding regions are not nearly as well off, but still, many regions, not only Plano Piloto, are great to live in. Plenty of outdoors green areas, little violence, good services in general...public transportation can get tricky due to the horizontal nature of the city, but still...Love it in here, great place for families. One of the best in Brazil for sure. And I've been around outside Brazil quite a bit...It's a great place to live even considering other developed cities worldwide.

Congratulations on the video, it's cool to see someone talk about Brasília. However, the information needs to be further refined. Brasília is not a beach city, but it is surrounded by natural beauty. I suggest you research: Chapada dos Veadeiros, Chapada Imperial, National Park, Poço Azul, Mumunhas, Água Mineral, Salto do Itiquira, Caldas Novas, Pirinópolis, Terra Ronca, Serras Gerais, Cocalzinho de Goiás... And many others places. It is not necessary to go far, Brasília is close to these places. Furthermore, it would be interesting to get to know the culture. Go to the fair and eat pastel and sugarcane juice, go to a June festival and enjoy a Quentão, enjoy the spring with the Ipês trees in bloom, watch a game at the mané garrincha, take a bike ride through the parks and try bar food at night. ..etc. I respect your opinion about preferring the coast, but continue to think Brasília is 100 times better.

Brasília has a good amount of rain between the end of september and the mid of april
after the mid of april until the end of september and sometimes october, it's a very dry city with almost no rain every year.
Some people love this, some on the other hand, have the urge to leave in some of the hollidays to a place a little bit more "friendly" every year.
So far in 2024, no rain has happened since the start of the "dry season"
You should visit Goiania as well if you haven't already
PS: Although the city has this "plane" or "butterfly" shape, Oscar Niemeyer never intended to make the city look like this. @@marygraf and just to further my original point of the "plane or butterfly shape" never being the one they chased for it, an one minute search on the internet would bring you to this 2019 article saying that the original design was based on a cross. With one side being for the government and the other to the people, but that after they started building the city, the project took it's own shape, as a way to better addapt to the land.
It was never their desire to call it as plano piloto, asa sul or asa norte, since the idea of the plane was never meant to be.
In fact, the word used for it on other languages like english or french are the same, but not in portuguese (so it could mean ala norte or ala sul instead of asa norte and asa sul)
The idea of the plane. it's just one more that was repeated a thousand times until it was "true enough" for nobody to bother or try to find the reasoning behind it.

It sucks. Big time. Feels like a Soviet city for rich people, but in a mediocre way. Also, it could be heaven for public transportation and certainly a reference to the world in that regard, but guess what... It's bad even if compared to other Brazilian cities (Porto Alegre and Curitiba, for example). AND GUESS WHAT? Can't do SHIT without a car, it's even worse than sprawly US suburbs in many ways. I moved to Brasilia since a relative of mine worked for the government and traveled the world a lot, nothing really caught my attention. Also, from all the Brazilians, Brasilia locals were by far the most bizarre and self-absorbed. They were nothing like "real" Brazilians that i've met across the country. Also, it's one of the only places in the world (apart from Denmark) were people REALLY stay in their little social bubbles their whole lives, doing the same stuff with the same folks.
Overall, super mediocre. Sorry. Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Aracaju and Curitiba are by far the best capital cities in Brazil. I think it would be fair to put Brasilia right behind those. If it weren't by the locals, could be much better.

You said the basics but not what really maters. Brazilia is an artificial city populated by overpaid public servants, their boyfriends, girlfriends, lovers, lobbiests (...), and the likes. No surprise that the city becomes empty when the congressionals fly to their states wich is usualy late thursdays early fridays to return late mondays early tuesdays, except during holidays or Congress recess when they stay out of town is even longer. The fact that the city has the largest GDP in the country without producing not even one pin speaks volumes. Add to it the fact that no brazilian city is user friendly. Considering that brazilian cities (except some historic cities from the time of colonial rule) have no architetural caracter or fundament, I could say that Brazilia has an "anusual" aparence into the contest. Brazilian cities are pretty much about high walls with barbed wire or broken glass at the top, grilled windows and constant barking of dogs that also defecate and urinate in the sidewalk, such is the problem of urban violation caused by petty criminals and amplified by the media, police corruption and/or incompetence and the total absence of justice. We also have street vendors shouting their products throughout the day, noizy garbage collection in erratic hours, loud motocicles running deliveries throughout the day and neighbours who hardly speak to each other. Other then that...welcome to Brazil. A 524 years old country that dreams to be but has never managed.

Brasilia is, quite literally, the best city in the Americas. I've lived in the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. Brasilia is an incredible place, beautiful, green! Stop complaining about things you don't know. You should travel more.

    • @poliniques
      @poliniques 4 місяці тому +2

@@logomoko78 For a regular person I can say I have traveled quiet a lot within and outside Brazil. I have been to Brazilia and can say the place has some interesting sights but that's about it. Brazil does have a few cities that I can say are interesting, green with lots of culture and memory, but not Brazilia, and that's as far as I can go because no brazilian city is user friendly, especially the large ones. Brazilia is not exactly green as it is situated in the cerrado (savana) region and the city itself is about roads, as it is the entire country to serve the auto industry. The city is relatively new (not much culture or memory), was built in the 50's to be the base to the state and those who make it function and live off of it and that's why it has the highest GDP in the country without producing not even one pin. Other than that the place is empty, full of roads, populated by politicians and their dependents, lovers, media corps, lobbyists, and servants. When you are one of those than one can probably say the city is "incredible" and "beautiful" such is the amount of money that runs through it as Brazil's GDP is 1.92 trillion USD badly distributed among the people. When you are not one of the mentioned I suggest you go to see the sites, take some pictures and then return to your place of origin with a T-Shit like "I've been to Brazilia and bought this T-Shirt".

Do you have a problem? Everything you said is untrue. First, Brasília has 3 million people, do you really think that there is 3 million public servants? We only have 600 congressmen, that stay in the city only from tuesday to thursday, and then they go back to their shitty state. 95% of Brasília GDP comes of the service sector, with more than 200k companies registered and 300k employees. By the way, the industry and agropecuary are the sectors that grow the most. Finally, Brasilia has a lot of green areas, the center and north of the city is practically a forest, and a lot of places to do outdoor activities. You probably came to the city in the dry season and stayed in the most boring places, and now lying about the city because your city is trash. The only problem in brasilia is that it was made for cars, so it isnt very walkable.

Wouldn't say that at all. Brasília has incredible cuisines, kind people, the country's best infrastructure, best educational systems (both private and public), abundance of public and private hospitals, and it is generally a comfortable and cozy place to live in.
