Love Sao Paulo, great nightlife, very affordable, very diverse , best connected airports in South America, fantastic modernist architecture no disney crap like Paris, no silly puritan rules like boring New York
Cracolandia should me renamed as senzalolandia, due to the ethnic selection it has and because it is not a real park like Dysneyland from its name refers to.
Having lived in São Paulo, I can attest the video is quite accurate. The cost of living cannot really be compared to US and Europe, because the average salaries in Brazil are much lower. So the cost of living for Brazilians is quite high. A minor correction: Ibirapuera is not the biggest park in São Paulo, there are at least 2 bigger ones. It is the most famous and central one, though.
I was passing the boundary of Crackolandia by car one winter morning after a really cold night (8-10 C) and it was honestly like being a in a real life zombie movie

I liked your overall take on the city. Without sugarcoating it, you addressed the most important issues that inhabitants face daily. Having ridden on some subways in Europe, I can easily say that when it comes to public infrastructure (subway) the city is one the best in the world. However, if you are planning on coming here to work for a big company, I would highly not recommend it, as the cost of living is high, and many wouldn't be able to keep up with it.

Best places to invest are in the large luxury condos, just in the outskirts like the zones of Santana de Parnaiba, Barueri, Granja Viana, Cotia, Aldeia da Serra etc. you can still buy relatively low cost pieces of land inside a premium condo and build a dream mansion being 20 minutes of the main avenues of Sao Paulo. Perfect for families wishing to move there with the plus being near the industrial zones. Good for investors or business owners. Instead for singles or couples that wants to live inside the city and enjoy the cinemas, bars, theaters, university, concerts etc, an apartment is the best choice. Vila Madalena, Pinheiros, Moema, Perdizes are great zones. Relatively safe, and well covered with city services such as restaurants, markets, hospitals, easy public transport...
@nordicinvestor Italian here. I am moving there next year with the whole family. I have studied in detail about this city since 2021, it is a great city for those who are looking for an alternative to Europe. Wish me luck!
Granja Viana is the "condominium complex" and Cotia is the municipality itself. Same happens with Santana de Parnaíba and Barueri as two municipalities, and Alphaville being the complex itself (split between both cities) Not wanting to disrupt your plan, but if I were you I would move to the condos located in the outskirts of Vinhedo and Valinhos instead, in the interior of the state. much safer than Alphaville, for example, when you leave the walls.
@@Kownter thanks for the information. In fact these small cities around are touching Sao Paulo and it is quite confusing . I see on the map Valignos and Vinhedo and they look like nice cities indeed. They seem a bit far from Sao Paulo, around 1h by car not ideal for daily commute. In my case I need to be near the Sao Paulo city itself. It would be a good choice if you work in Campinas...
My favourite parts of Sao Paulo : Jaragua, Morro Doce , Pedra Branca......No overpaid European expats complaining about cost of living and crime ! Just Brazilians trying to get through life from one day to another and somehow they still keep their humanity and optimism .

Thanks a lot for the video and your analises. State of São Paulo is like a country and São Paulo City is a cosmopolitan city. We have problems too but we find problems in all bigs cities around the world. But SP is fantastic! Thank you!
The income in São Paulo is proporsionaly higher as the expenditiures. The fuel is cheaper than Rio and Minas, the supermarket is same price, with the advantage of having better products, variety, quality of vegetebles, bakeries. São Paulo is much more esier and fast to solve the routine duties. The services are better. People is more educated and civilized. There are 39 cities in "Grande São Paulo" like Barueri, São Caetano do Sul, Guararema, São José dos Campos etc. Very safe and organized cities.
Distance to the beach - it depends on WHERE you live in the São Paulo region. I lived in São Bernardo do Campo for over a year and we had about 45 - 60 minutes to the in-laws in Guarujá! We also did day trips to the beach along the coast. If I move to Brazil one day, it will be São Bernardo do Campo 😉. Close to the beach - Close to São Paulo city.
Thanks for some useful info about sp. would love to see n stay in sp. but its very hard to get a job there if not physically living there. even in IT, no positive sign of getting any job since long time.
One thing that I found out and confuses people a lot is that - as with New York - Sao Paulo is the name of the city and also the state. So when people say that Sao Paulo doesn't have any beaches, it means the city, since you can take a two hours trip and be in the coastline. And yeah the city itself is huge, with its metropolitan area having more than 20 million people. That's a batshit crazy number, only similar in metropolitan areas from China like Guangzhou and Beijing and of course Tokyo.
Great video keep up with the good job❤ this is the problem of Brazil each state should be a country and not a dependant state. Sao paulo generates so much money 600 billion dollars a year, higher than Sweden s GDP and has so many people that it could be an independent country with much better life quality and infrastructure for its inhabitants
Love Sao Paulo, and the best thing is easy to get around the world from there. I live in the U.S. and i just bought a condo at the northen coast of sao paulo for about 60k USD. its still under construction and i count not be more excited. Ilhabela is awesome

Also, I'd like to get a quick look onto the prices themselves, because I'm from Greece and I don;t have a single clue how will be the life there If a Greek moves there.
Great video! I love São Paulo... it's a place with so many options for things to do, lots of bars, restaurants, vibrant culture, national and international shows, and people from all over Brazil and the world. If you want, you can do something every day of the week. I don’t really like the traffic and the crime... but the crime is okay. There are other capitals in Brazil that are worse. Here in São Paulo, you can live peacefully despite the crime rate-it’s not something that will directly and constantly affect you.
Have you ever visited the countryside of São Paulo state? The indices for the interior of São Paulo, depending on the city, are usually similar to those of the countryside of Santa Catarina, both in terms of crime rates and cost of living and health. In fact, the cost of living and health services often tend to be better than in Santa Catarina, and crime rates are generally comparable. Good info, mostly of your perception is right and precise, some need extra info. For instance, the local Congonhas airport is under a huge renovation, part of the problems you had there were because of that, also you were embarking in the area without fingers for direct access to planes, that area will disappear on the renovation, that also includes a new metro line connected direct in the airport, the whole renovation will doubled Congonhas size. Also the cultural side of the city was barely spoken of, there are huge amounts of good theatres, museums, classical music (best orchestras in the country, best Opera, etc), dance companies, all kinds of Festivals of all that, but specially a great music scene, from huge Arena pop shows to small perfomance bars. This and the night life (and shopping) are the major reasons tourists from the rest of the country packs São Paulo.

You shouldn't say not to visit the old city center of SP as there are a lot of cultural events and historic buildings with interesting attractions, you just are not aware. Of course, everyone should be cautious in all areas of the city.
The Congonhas Airport (in centre) will be refurbished in 2025 (finishing in 2026) to a new and technology place, with best logistics and with double spaces, gates, planes, shops and others and with direct connection to air train.
I agree with you, Congonhas is chaotic and I would never dare to take a flight from there, I know how it is, I never did. However, speaking in favour of Guarulhos, now there's no need to drive or take a taxi there, they now have the station right in front of the airport. The train leaves from central station Luz, and the service is great, you get there super quick, and the shuttle bus takes like 7 minutes to drop you off at the airport. I've stayed in a uber for likez 2 hours, from the airport to where my mother leaves, near Pinheiros, and by train/underground, this same trip it takes maximum 50 minutes.
My family and I just moved to Sao Paulo. We live in Pinheiros, which is lively, gay, and full of nice bars and restaurants. I love the people but hate the graffiti, mosquitos, and delivery motorbikes (which make it impossible to have a conversation or sleep)!
Conhonhas Airport will double in size, works have already started, there will be a terminal just for arrivals and this one for boarding will improve a lot
My wife is from são paulo, pretty good video, you got a very good overall view of the city. But as a Brazilian who has lived abroad and has travelled to europe, what bothers me most about são paulo and brazilian cities in general, is how poorly kept they are, side walks, streets, hanging whires, there is very little harmony between the buildings, the city is very disorganised, also the violence makes people take precautions that make the citie even uglier.
One thing that many people are not aware of is that until the 1970s, the state of São Paulo used to be part of Brazil's Southern region. It was the military junta, somewhat afraid of the separatist movement gaining traction, that decided to separate São Paulo from the Southern region, realigning it with the Brazilian cultural core of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. After this shift, a strong 'psy-ops' campaign was carried out, especially in academia and schools, to culturally distance São Paulo from the remaining Southern states. As a result, immigrant heritage began to be suppressed, labeled as 'foreign' or 'non-Brazilian.' This is one of the main reasons why, for instance, Italians in São Paulo are less connected to their heritage compared to those in the South, even in nearly 100% Italian towns in the state's interior.
No worries! Another cool historical fact is that during the colonial period, and later in imperial times, both Paraná and parts of Santa Catarina were part of the São Paulo imperial province.
Exatamente! Mas o interior de São Paulo ainda é ligado culturalmente com o sul… Os sotaques são parecidos entre várias outras coisas, por isso São Paulo faz parte do cone sul
Great video! The problem about that rent map you showed is that its probably not considering the average or minimum wage in each country. It showed that a single person has to make about 7k reais a month (when including rent) but the average income per month is like 2k reais...
You'll be happy to know that Congonhas airport is going through renovations and they plan to double its size, it'll be much more modern and better. But of course this can take several years to finish.
I am from São José do Rio Preto, which appears on the map at the 13 or so minutes mark. It is considered the second best city in Brazil! Far interior of the São Paulo State.
Hey there! 2 good News regarding the local AirPort! In 2 years from now it Will be served by a modern monorail line, and the whole AirPort Will be renovated
The other thing u Did not mentioned and I believe is negative is how paranoid people from São Paulo is regarding violence…. The Sense of danger is way higher then the actual danger u can get there
Congonhas is under renovation it will be a bit better (u can find videos for the new project on youtube). But Congonhas was a farm far far away from the city, but the city grew towards it then becomes this caos for space.
My tenant pays only $2400 including common charges to live in the city center of São Paulo. I'm a good landlord. But then again, it's a tiny studio apartment. 😅
Numbeo is a good site. But there's no site like visiting in person. São Paulo as a state though has one of the lowest homicide rates, but again, feeling is important.
I would honestly like to understand the meaning of the expression "relatively safe"... at what point does a person start to feel safe or unsafe? Based on what? on facts, or on opinions disseminated by the media? And another question: does this feeling of "relative safety" apply only to São Paulo and Brazil in general, or do these "criteria" also apply to other places on the planet?
São Paulo is: almost 13 million inhabitants (center), +23 million (39 municipalities) and almost 35 million (extended metropolis of São Paulo) State of São Paulo: + 46.6 million inhabitants
You mention waiting for an hour at the airport for a taxi. But you don't mention Uber, the more popular option. I've never waited more than five minutes for an Uber at either of São Paulo's airports.
O que muitos não comentam é que São Paulo é muito mais que diversao, a cidade se consolidou como referência em saude e medicina, com os melhores e maiores hospitais. O melhor na em medicina São Paulo tem.
São Paulo has around 590,000 empty private properties, a value almost 20 times greater than the number of homeless individuals. But every time a mayoral candidate talks about reversing this, they call it communism and is not elected
@@Marcelo-Caruccio But I'm saying this because they are integrated systems (just look at the map) like many cities in the world and it confuses a lot of people who are not from São Paulo. Only those who are from here know that we have 2 rail systems! Bye
I’ve watch a number of this guy’s videos and I find it weird how he always mentions the diversity of Brazil but never mentions the nearly 60% of Brazilian’s of African Descent. Maybe he doesnt see them? 🙄 #InvisibleMan #Ellison Still My Experiences in São Paulo are similar to his. The city is both remarkable and engaging but also very Grimy and Gritty. I travel to Rio, Salvador, Recife, and other parts of Brazil often and São Paulo is the only city where I didn’t feel particularly safe walking the streets at night. There is a considerable homeless population in the city similar to LA’s skid row. However, on the other hand, infrastructure like their Subways system is indeed impressive! They even have CLEAN and Air-conditioned bathrooms in their subway stations! 🤯 It really put’s USA’s Subways systems to shame. However, if you try to drive anywhere in the city the traffic is so congested, expect an hour to travel more than 10/15 miles. While you can find wonderful and impressive Art all over the city that really inspire’s, so much of the city is also covered in Graffiti. I think São Paulo does its self a dis-service limiting the height of its Sksycrapers to about 50 stories, because while it has a impressive skyline, nothing really sticks out because so many of the building are the same height. Of the course the Copan and the Italian building’s are impressive Classic’s though. However, there is nothing about the Skyline that really defines the city center. Still, as with every City I’ve visited where the Portuguese language and Portuguese is the dominant Culture - Lisboa; Cape Verde; Luanda, Angola; Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador de Bahia…. It’s the People that Make these places so special. There is something about Portuguese Culture, almost like a throw back to Humanity’s pre-capitalistic past, where the average person you meet in these cities tend always send you off with a smile. Of course Brazilian’s will tell you people’s personalities are much warmer (in the warm) in the North half of the country than the South (colder). Which, May be true… still despite their somewhat more sophisticated vibe, the São Pauliano’s are a welcoming and friendly bunch too! I am a huge fan of Portuguese and Brazilian culture… I don’t think anyone could go wrong by moving to any of its cities.

My city, the best city in the world. Love São Paulo
👍
Love Sao Paulo, great nightlife, very affordable, very diverse , best connected airports in South America, fantastic modernist architecture no disney crap like Paris, no silly puritan rules like boring New York
I also think SP is a great city to visit
Disney crap?? You don't know Paris. They have the best museums and cafés!! I love Paris.
"fantastic modernist architecture" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
As a citizen of São Paulo city, modern architecture sucks
Sao Paulo is only very affordable if you're coming with Dollars or Euros
It was a pleasure to watch your video. Very insteresting informations and it was easy to follow you talking. Great Job😊👍
I totally agree with you...I'm living in Sweden, I'm from São Paulo...

Cracolandia should me renamed as senzalolandia, due to the ethnic selection it has and because it is not a real park like Dysneyland from its name refers to.
Beautiful World ❤
Thanks for the video! Great work.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for sharing!
I was passing the boundary of Crackolandia by car one winter morning after a really cold night (8-10 C) and it was honestly like being a in a real life zombie movie
Its like Skid Row on steroids
It sounds scary, I did not have the courage to go there
@@nordicinvestoryou see how you are? The cracklandia is always being removed. I'd you don't have enough money to stay in better areas that's what you get!
That is true, I once went there when driving and got shocked with that exact sight, very saddening.
@@nordicinvestor
It's easy to drive near Cracolandia, its area is limited by the police. These few dangerous areas in central are where you will see the police most, just like you saw in Sé. You will find more problems in the favelas in peripheral areas. Great video BTW!
São Paulo é tudo de bom . O estado é uma potência, um país dentro de outro .
👍
I liked your overall take on the city. Without sugarcoating it, you addressed the most important issues that inhabitants face daily. Having ridden on some subways in Europe, I can easily say that when it comes to public infrastructure (subway) the city is one the best in the world. However, if you are planning on coming here to work for a big company, I would highly not recommend it, as the cost of living is high, and many wouldn't be able to keep up with it.
Totally agree - good infrastructure but high cost of living
Very nice, thank you for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
I've lived in São Paulo since 2011, I love this city. Coming here was the best choice I made in my life.

Thanks for the info!
@nordicinvestor Italian here. I am moving there next year with the whole family. I have studied in detail about this city since 2021, it is a great city for those who are looking for an alternative to Europe. Wish me luck!
Granja Viana is the "condominium complex" and Cotia is the municipality itself. Same happens with Santana de Parnaíba and Barueri as two municipalities, and Alphaville being the complex itself (split between both cities)
Not wanting to disrupt your plan, but if I were you I would move to the condos located in the outskirts of Vinhedo and Valinhos instead, in the interior of the state. much safer than Alphaville, for example, when you leave the walls.

Good job. .Correct informations. I am a brazilian citizens. I live in Rio but i know São Paulo.
Edição perfeita! qualidade dos videos. Congratulations ! parabéns!!!!
Thanks for the info👍
Distance to the beach - it depends on WHERE you live in the São Paulo region. I lived in São Bernardo do Campo for over a year and we had about 45 - 60 minutes to the in-laws in Guarujá! We also did day trips to the beach along the coast. If I move to Brazil one day, it will be São Bernardo do Campo 😉. Close to the beach - Close to São Paulo city.
Great video as always😊

Thanks for some useful info about sp. would love to see n stay in sp. but its very hard to get a job there if not physically living there. even in IT, no positive sign of getting any job since long time.
I Love Sao Paulo. 😍
Its a great city 👍
One thing that I found out and confuses people a lot is that - as with New York - Sao Paulo is the name of the city and also the state. So when people say that Sao Paulo doesn't have any beaches, it means the city, since you can take a two hours trip and be in the coastline.
And yeah the city itself is huge, with its metropolitan area having more than 20 million people. That's a batshit crazy number, only similar in metropolitan areas from China like Guangzhou and Beijing and of course Tokyo.
I agree, its crazy how big SP is
the best swedish guy I have ever seen
Thanks 😂
Great video keep up with the good job❤ this is the problem of Brazil each state should be a country and not a dependant state. Sao paulo generates so much money 600 billion dollars a year, higher than Sweden s GDP and has so many people that it could be an independent country with much better life quality and infrastructure for its inhabitants
Thanks!
Love Sao Paulo, and the best thing is easy to get around the world from there. I live in the U.S. and i just bought a condo at the northen coast of sao paulo for about 60k USD. its still under construction and i count not be more excited. Ilhabela is awesome
Congrats, the northern coast of SP is very beautiful
There are no parks bro, it's buildings everywhere. That Ibirapuera park (the only one worth mentioning in SP) it's not easy accessible
12:00 Sao Paulo State, not the city, right?
Good point
Hello, my friend
Could you please give me some information about the neighborhoobs in sao paulo?
Which is the safest, the poorest, where is the quality of living good enough. Also, I'd like to get a quick look onto the prices themselves, because I'm from Greece and I don;t have a single clue how will be the life there If a Greek moves there.
Vila Madelena, Pinheiros, Itaim Bibi, Vila Olímpia are nice neighbourhoods, Vivareal and imoveisweb are good real estate websites
I felt pretty safe walking around SP too
hola, where is located that crystal shop! I always go to a small one by SE ... but its very limited
It's called Legep Mineração
Have you ever visited the countryside of São Paulo state? The indices for the interior of São Paulo, depending on the city, are usually similar to those of the countryside of Santa Catarina, both in terms of crime rates and cost of living and health. In fact, the cost of living and health services often tend to be better than in Santa Catarina, and crime rates are generally comparable. If you ever get the chance and remember, talk about this in your videos.
I have visited a few cities in the state of SP and its very nice
There is no state in Brazil that even compares to Santa Catarina dude, it literally feels like first world

Nice video! Congonhas is being expanded and it’s about to have twice as many gates
Thanks for the info!
Awesome analises from São Paulo.
Thank you!
Thanks for the extra info and clarification 👍
@@marcoz9497 exactly! He didn't stay long enoughh there to have an opinion about it, although he still made a video with the most negative impressions I have heard. Has he forgot, we are the Comercial, Cutural, and Academic (the 8th best university in the world) , cultural, polo in the whole Latin America? Has he ever mentioned, Sao Paulo is the place where the coffee beans exportations started to the world and the leader ? Where the best factory and production in the world of aeroplanes ✈️ is from, EMBRAER?
Congonhas airport is going through a full renovation. They are creating a whole new terminal and the actual structure will handle disembarking only.
👍
You shouldn't say not to visit the old city center of SP as there are a lot of cultural events and historic buildings with interesting attractions, you just are not aware. Of course, everyone should be cautious in all areas of the city.
You are right, the old city centre has lots of nice things
The Congonhas Airport (in centre) will be refurbished in 2025 (finishing in 2026) to a new and technology place, with best logistics and with double spaces, gates, planes, shops and others and with direct connection to air train.
That's good, thanks for the info!
They are expanding the Congonhas airport terminal. It is on its early development, but it started already.
That's great
I agree with you, Congonhas is chaotic and I would never dare to take a flight from there, I know how it is, I never did.
Thanks for the tip about the train 👍
For Crystals and gems you should go to the towns of Soledade or Ametista do Sul, both in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Thanks for the info. I will try to visit them soon
My family and I just moved to Sao Paulo. We live in Pinheiros, which is lively, gay, and full of nice bars and restaurants. I love the people but hate the graffiti, mosquitos, and delivery motorbikes (which make it impossible to have a conversation or sleep)!
São Paulo is great but has it's issues

Thanks for the info, I did not know that
Awesome video. I have always wondered about it. Is English spoke more heavily there?
Yes you will find a bit more people who can speak English in SP but it is still not a high % of the population
São Paulo is amazing!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Great video! The problem about that rent map you showed is that its probably not considering the average or minimum wage in each country. It showed that a single person has to make about 7k reais a month (when including rent) but the average income per month is like 2k reais...
Yeah, its not very realistic I agree
You'll be happy to know that Congonhas airport is going through renovations and they plan to double its size, it'll be much more modern and better. But of course this can take several years to finish.
That's great news
Last I heard (study from this year) the price of the square meter in SP had surpassed Florianópolis. I'm unsure which list is more up to date.
I'm also not sure, I think it depends on which source you use. I think the key point is that both SP and Floripa are very expensive!
Sao Paulo City is the other New York City of the south.
The music, the art, the underground, the diversity of cultures and cuisines.

It was my feeling compared to other cities in Brazil. But it's all very subjective

Thanks for all the info!
Feel safe in Salvador and Fortaleza? You were Lucky.
