I read that JR East may be considering dismantling the 20,000 V 50 Hz alternating current overhead power from Ōmagari (the start point of this video) all the way south to Shinjo, since it appears only the 701 Series trains were running on this route. They will replace them with KiHa 110 and GV-E400 train sets possibly as early as this summer.
@@user-windowviewmaniasince2022 A reason for this was storm damage from last summer, and JR East may just dismantle the overhead wiring from Ōmagari south and reassign the KiHa 110 to this route. (The Uetsu Main LIne south of Akita will stay electrified due to JR Freight using that line regularly.)
