- 1984 Dodge Rampage “Outrage”
Arrington Performance owner Mike Copeland built Outrage for 2019 SEMA.
The original engine was 2.2L with 95 hp. In its place resides the fuel cell and radiator for the mid-engine configuration. The flares and rear valance are all steel. The front is aluminum and carbon fiber. The bed insides are all hand formed steel. A Factory Five GTM chassis was modified to fit the Rampage body and cradle the Hemi. Suspension is QA1 mod series coilovers all the way around with Corvette control arms and uprights. Stop is provided by Baer XTR brakes. A/C and a 1,000-watt Pioneer stereo add to the ride. The roll cage adds safety and rigidity.
The 392 ci (6.4L) Hemi is a 2018 crate engine. Internals are an Arrington forged package consisting of Wiseco pistons and Manley rods as well as an Arrington cam and a stock crank. The Hemi heads are decked .060˝ for more compression and CNC ported. The Borla injection features handcrafted elongated stacks. Fuel delivery is managed by a Holley Dominator ECU.
The 392 Hemi makes about 650 horsepower and 580 ft.-lbs. of torque running through a five-speed Mendeola transaxle. Weighing 3,000 pounds with 60% of the weight on the rear. Capable of 17 mpg and 160 mph on track straightaways makes for a truly amazing means of transportation!

Arrington Performance owner Mike Copeland has a long resume of impressive projects, many with GM. I wish I would have had the time to talk with him that day.
One of the finest machines I've ever seen . Super nice job !!
It is absolutely amazing!
Nice!!! He built my dream Rampage!! Cool video! Thanks for sharing!
It was a pleasure! I have seen a few trucks with the engine in the bed, but this is my favorite. Mahalo!
Sweet ride!
Mike did a stunning build on this!
It is fantastic for sure!
Very nice build. Must be a hoot to drive. Quite original also
Yes it is! A 1984 Dodge Rampage, who would have thought?
Sweet! Love American 💪🏼
It is #1
Now that's cool
For sure. So hot it is cool!
I'm assuming the people saying they would rather have a full bed pick up are joking or dumb as rocks. This isn't a daily driver. It's a really well thought out beast now! If it's ever in IL, um, can I drive it?
I understand where they are coming from. It has lost it’s utilitarian nature. However, this is intended to be a rolling billboard for Arrington Performance. A very loud and eye-catching billboard indeed!
They do take Outrage on the road. We caught it at the Hotrod Power Tour. Ah hem, I get to drive it first!
@@WolfHeiau I looked that tour up. I think I have a friend who attends that. He has a few different classics from a resto-mod Model T (or maybe something from the '30s, I'm not really up on those real old ones), to a '56 Bel Air. I remember him explaining how massive it was, it has to be this.
@@Gcatt1 the Hotrod Power Tour has 6000 cars. We did day one at Beech Bend in Bowling Green. It was the best stop because they had both drag racing and autocross.
It was only a few miles from the Corvette factory and Corvette Museum.
They change the route every year. If you get the chance by all means go.
The engine in the bed of the truck is a no go.
It’s fine, everything will be alright 🙄
Not something you would drive to the lumberyard. However, putting 60% of the weight on the rear wheels would make it go!
No distributor, no dice.
It would seem odd to climb into the cab to work on the front of the engine. Kind of reminiscent of the vans of the sixties.
@@WolfHeiau Whats really odd is europeans redesigning a epic american engine into a pos. You see the oil flow for the frikken push rods? Its about as stupid as a 6.7 oiling system.
@@Adultmale1000 For sure!
This is really cool. But doesn't the motor in the back defeat the whole purpose of having a bed ? I'll stick with my LQ9 S10 pickup with a functional bed.
I bet your S10 "hauls" in more than one way! Outrage was designed to be a rolling billboard for Arrington Performance, but yours would be better at towing yachts!
@@WolfHeiau I don't know if my truck will tow a yacht but it definitely can drag some ass if you know what I mean.
@@mikeh.753 For sure bruddah!
