Pro-tip: Set the Argosy to bring back trade items. Pay attention to the heartbeat, when it’s close to flat (even if there’s no skull on the monster minimap) set your trap. Use the SOS often, you’ll meet new friends. Craft weapons with decoration slots, set Slugger decorations to help with dropping the monster. *DON’T* use the flash pod on Diablos. You can’t trap Nergi.
    Happy Hunting 🍻

    • @Grey-The-Skeleton
      @Grey-The-Skeleton 10 місяців тому +42

I wouldn't recommend using the SOS often. Maybe give a hunt around 5 tries and then make that choice. It's nice to get help from others, but spamming SOS flares will put you into an akward situation where you have to rely on them to progress because you haven't learned the basics by yourself in the earlier, easier quests.
Do not be scared of difficulty, wherever it shows up. Do not be scared of losing. Keep going, hunters!

      @Lloydter1 10 місяців тому +12

More like you can't trap elder dragons in general, unless your word trap has different context.

what is argosy? why cannot use flash pod on diablos?

    • @Grey-The-Skeleton

@@mul25 The Argosy is a trade ship that leaves the New World to go to the Old World and bring back items for you to purchase in large packs with Research Points. Trade-In Items are items that you have to sell in order to get large amounts of Zenny out of them. Basically, doing that with the Argosy allows one to pretty-much never run out of Zenny, which can very quickly happen near the endgame at some points.

This is so insane but I love it. It feels like old times when I first started with this game again. I was in the same boat as you where I absolutely HATED this game in the beginning because of how annoying it was to get used to the crazy mechanics in this game. Fast forward to now and it ended up being the first game I ever played for 1000 freakin hours and still counting.

It used to be the game that made me hate the refund policy on Steam cause I had left the pc on with the game open and it racked up 8 hours. So glad it did this was when the game came up and I just started playing it now and having a blast. Rathalos and his gems can get f'ed tough 😂😂

That's how I felt. I played the demo and wasn't sold. My friend told me to buy the game and play with him. I ended up spending way too much time on it. I fell in love with it.

You should have played the original back in the day (2004, PS2). This game is night and day EASY by comparison. The quality of life improvements alone would make you want to quit the original. You used to have to get all items out of your box and bring them to the smithy for crafting anything. If you didn't grab the correct amount, you got to go all the way back to your box again. The combat is beyond buttery smooth by comparison. The monster's hit boxes are far better. The moves are more predictable and easier to avoid in mhw. The amount of items you receive and can acquire is beyond generous (imagine having to collect tons of materials for hours just to craft basic items). There was no such thing as hiding from a monster. Each area had it's own loading screen.
      Now for the worst aspects:
      - you received far fewer materials in rewards
      - Some materials literally had a 1% drop rate
      - Some materials had a 1% drop rate and could ONLY be carved from a tail AND you needed 5 of them!!!!!!!!!!
Look up pl8 running to get the "Eternal Annihilator", still to this day the rarest and most difficult weapon to obtain in ALL of Monster Hunter. I still have my save file with that acquired weapon (online only materials to build).
Having said that, the original was unbelievably rewarding and an experience beyond words (especially for the time). There is a reason the series is where it is today. I spent over 2,500 hours between two save files on the original.

Something to appreciate: the palico chefs are not precisely idle when outside the cutscene. One goes through the entire process of making bread from scratch, albeit with insane speed for any given step, but every step present.

New player to MH here. The biggest challenge for me getting into the game has been the convoluted Japanese style menus/wording/numbering that messes with my Western mindset, and the sheer amount of text popus and tutorials very nearly drove me away, but the game's charm has been pulling me through it and I'm pulling many more hours than I anticipated. Coming from Dark Souls and Elden Ring this is fitting like a glove and I can see how does many things better, or just differently in great ways for its genre. Also I fell in love with the Glaive immediately.

This is by far the worst gaming experience I have ever had in the opening 2 hours. This game can go fuck itself. Oooo would you like to read three pages of stuff we can't be fucked to introduce properly? Hold that, here's three more, oooo and three more, and oh heres a bland as shit character here to waffle on about a load of nonsense you have no clue about. Now to run you hold this, but hang on here's three more pages of bollocks, hope you're remembering all this, here's some more bollocks. This game is a pile of steaming shit.

5:10 So a few things regarding camera controls:
It defaults to Focus Camera, not Target Camera. Focus is the DS lock-on. Target is the MH3U/4U lock-on.
I think Target Cam is the best option. I'm used to it from Rise and 3U and find it handy for when the monster jumps over you or around you or starts to fly away. Or when it's obscured and you can't track it because the Ancient Forest is cluttered. It's just nice to be able to tap L1 and get your bearings, even if you're still manually moving the camera 90% of the time.
There's no downside to setting it to Target Cam vs "Do Not Focus"
And at 5:58 you seem to agree, since you're discussing Target Camera Settings. Settings which obviously don't matter at all unless you're... well, using Targeting Camera. I imagine you just misspoke or got confused with World's similarly named yet totally different options.
It's too late to change this information in the video obviously, but maybe you can create an annotation or pinned comment with the correct information?
Anyways, I have not watched the rest of the video, but am looking forward to it since I tend to learn a lot from your guides and I'm pretty new to World and there's a bunch of weird systems compared to other games that I just don't know what to do with. But I need to learn, both for myself and for a couple friends who I managed to talk into playing with me. This will be my first time teaching someone else the ropes rather than the other way around, so I'm excited :)
(I had a similar story to you. I tried 3U with a cousin and we couldn't figure it out and gave up. Years later a friend of mine convinced me to give it another chance and I fell in love with Rise and have gone back to play GU and 3U since and now am starting World)

As a new player who wasn't blessed by this giga-guide and found stuff out the pre-90's way, I can CONFIRM that you WILL want the auto sheath OFF.
The auto sheath is likely made to help the monsters have an easier time, not ours.

39:30 Alternative to the audio cue, you can just watch the handle. It starts vertical, and after two revolutions, the meat is done. After a quarter revolution more, the meat will be over-cooked. It bears mentioning that both under-cooked and over-cooked meat are still edible. I don't know the advantage of under-cooked, but over-cooked is faster to eat, but gives less stamina increase per serving.

I restarted mhw maining a greatsword. Generally I go with an Insect Glaive every time and other fast weapons.
I have to say, GS didn't feel as slow and clunky as I feared it to be and really loved how monsters melted like butter in a furnace (no guardian equip, of course).
Don't get intimidated by weapons that look slow or hard. You will learn to play it very fast if you keep at it.

This is BY FAR the best beginners guide I've watched for MH:W.
I tried MH Tri many years ago and didn't understand it. I played only a few hours and never touched it again.
After the MH: Wilds beta hype I was interested again and bought World to try the series once again.
I've seen a few beginner guides and was absolut lost and overwhelmed. You guide instead gives me general ideas what to do in MH and "just start hunting".
Thank you very much and I hope this time I have more fun enjoying the game.

A good thing to use the Tailraider for is Kelbis (the little green deer icon). They will get Kelbi Horns which are needed to craft Ancient Potions that heal you to full and increase both your max stamina and health to full as well. I always try and send my Trailraiders after them. Sometimes they'll appear in different maps, and there's usually at least one with them.

Thank you so much for this vid, as a new returning player (what I mean by that is I downloaded and started to play back in like 2018-2019 im not sure when I started but I only played for like a couple of days before I was utterly overwhelmed and confused before giving up and uninstalling until recently reinstalling after realizing I accidentally bought the iceborne dlc/expansion and that if I don’t play I’d be wasting money.) started playing again yesterday and was still a bit confused on crafting and combat (I’m also a solo, I play offline for the most part.) so after a couple of days trying to get the feel of the controls and environments I was in search of a detailed tips or guides and stumbled upon yours which was more than I could’ve expected. So I’m very much grateful for this video as I never ate at the canteen much as I thought it were optional and only for aesthetic purposes. Much appreciated ❤😅

It’s great. I think a lot of us forgot just how great World is too. I might be enjoying playing through the whole game again with newbies even more than the first time even - it’s so damn fun!
    The game is a masterpiece.

In summary: "Ah-hah, you must be the new hunter. Welcome to the Monster Hunter. This will be your home, for now. I am... Gehrman, friend to you hunters. You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it..."

Great video ! You should make a playlist with you'r monster hunter world content and tutorials because they are quite hidden since they are older . If i scroll through you'r channel i find no videos about MHW. It makes it easier to go to other tutorials since you recommended other videos of yours. Maybe put some tutorials in the description, it would make it easier easier to navigate :)

Man ever since the monster hunter game that gave you the link outfit and the master sword I’ve wanted to get into it, I bought rise, put in 59 hours and got terrible burnt out. But world always looked so fun. So I’m downloading it, still terribly worried I just deleted daily games for nothing but this video gives me hope 😭❤️ I’m subbing even if I end up hating the game again, simply because this is an amazing beginner guide 😁

Because the default keybinds are horrible and uncomfortable.

I've got like 900 hours in world (lost 300 because of corrupted saves which made me drop the game) I've been playing again for the last couple weeks, and it's just such an amazing game. World is IMO the best iteration of the MonHun franchise. (I love Rise, but haven't played enough to compare)
