Do you have a transmission Jack? I just did this job. I supported the engine with my engine hoist from the passenger side, removed the engine Cradle completely, came in with a trans jack on the drivers side and lowered it down. My way looks like less swearing and potential to damage things.
I guess some car's transmissions are more easier to remove than on other cars. 12:00, I had to remove the whole cross-member on my 01 civic. On a Nissan Max, I did not need to do anything to cross-members
+Michael Delehanty I don't know anything about rebuilding them. I've just swapped bad transmissions for good ones. You could try saturnfans.com/forums as those guys know everything about the S.
i done this once before in 2012 and now i have to do it again on same car in 2019; $150 in parts to do it yourself instead of spending $1,000 for a mechanic to do it.
@theonlyshawn Great vids man. question i have a 98 saturn sl1 and recently had a tranny put in, but after they did the work i get a rattle when i go up a bump tht wasnt there before. almost sounds like the battery tray but when i shake it its very secure. Could the frame be loose? if so wht size socket do u need to tightn the bolts under the frame? Thanks much.

Looks like it can b removed from the top is that possible
You dont have to take out the flex plate, just unscrew the inspection cover and take out the bolts but you can leave that up there jammed in too.
Yes. I can remove and replace a manual in 3 hours, whereas, the auto takes about 5. The manual is much smaller and lighter, too..
It's essentially the same except for clutch removal and shifter cables. The manual is much easier because it is smaller and lighter.
Any idea how to just remove the trans cover to replace a shift solenoid?
"We're not going to mess with our connection to our steering wheel, cause that's a pain." Thank god! That would've made this seem difficult.
what kind of camera do you use? what set up do you have?
How much does the manual differ in removal procedure? I'm going to be reinforcing my diff pin this summer.
why did you unbolt the steering collum?
did these use hydraulic or cable clutches?

is manual more easy to remove ?
Is that at Saturn 2008 vue xe or not
There's no need to disconnect the starter on the Saturn.
how come i see him turning it counter clockwise when he states clockwise turns??????????
Correct..only the drivers side. If you remove the pass side you'll need to support the engine better.
is this the same way to replace a transmission in a 2004 Saturn ion 3?
Chad Grossman
I have no idea about the ion. That's a chevy and not a saturn as well!
Good video....I removed my 2001 TAAT as per your directions. Are u aware of any rebuilding videos/info about the same transmission?

The differential pin must be a common issue on these. My gfs car blew it just cruising at 45 mph.

So basically you take the whole car apart to replace the transmission lol
MissAmazanda that's every car...
Pick
Awesome. Thanks.
