It makes so much sense (to me as a similarly-pale-makeup-artist) that you have started gravitating towards a minimal, natural looking makeup recently! After all, you've FINALLY found products across all categories (base, cheek colour, etc) that can give you that effect! Previously, your best way to engage with nuances of colour, texture, and formula was through editorial looks and pulling inspiration from more dramatic aesthetics. And of course you did that because you are a person who is moved by those sensory experiences of colour, texture, and formula. Now a whole new world has crept up on you of minimal makeup and I'm not surprised you've dived in. I personally find most of my customers have a little wardrobe of makeup looks they wear along the lines of: the minimal look, the I'm in a rush look, the pop of colour, date night. It's lovely to be able to move between different makeup looks for whichever reason, but those products that you can rely on to always look harmonious with the colouring of your features often end up doing the heavy lifting among your makeup collection ☺️ Of course this is just my feeling from the outside!
Something that I've been wanting to mention lately is how much I appreciate how you keep ads out of your videos. We all understand there are bills to pay and sponsored content is helpful to creators, but I love that when you upload I'm confident I'm not gonna hear about a meal delivery service, or an app, or any other advertisement. I'm becoming more and more sensitive to the abundance of advertising we are all being bombarded with; your channel feels like an oasis away from all of that noise.
thanks, Holly! I do take sponsorships once in a while (there was one on a video last month) but I'm glad that I'm able to keep most of my content unsponsored. It's largely because of my awesome Patreon patrons. If I didn't have a Patreon account, I would definitely have to take more sponsorships in order to make ends meet!
I actually don’t mind them…I really appreciate the work most content creators put into their work so they can be able to work from home! But I agree with the shows that have like six in one show! 😅
I will never stop saying what a blessing it is that your style is very long, talkative videos. I would spend- well, I actually spend hours hearing you talk about whatever. How would you feel about a video regarding summer makeup? Not just the color vibes, but also about texture and having to deal with a lot more sweat, humidity, hot weather etc. I would love something like this.
I’d love every beauty channel to do this, because so many products are tagged as “holy grail” or “life changing” and you never ever see them wearing those again!
I think I commented this last time too, but FYI most South Korean and Japanese mascaras are meant to be used with a special remover. They come off very easily if you have the remover (it’s basically a mascara wand but covered in remover), but if you don’t they will basically never come off by design. It’s so that hooded Asian eyes won’t rub the product everywhere
I really appreciate that you revisit reviews periodically and update your thoughts as you get to know products better. I love how you describe the products, and the updates are helpful!
I would still recommend trying shade 13 in the Missha BB Cream. You and I have very similar coloring and shade 13 works great for me. It is much more neutral after application than it looks online or even after pumping it out. It is the only foundation I use out of my drawer full of foundation because it smooths over pores, wears very well, and is the perfect balance of dewiness without being greasy.
Agree. I am nearly the same color as Hannah and 13 is very grey. It’s one of my closest matches along with the rose inc concealer and the discontinued cyo lifeproof in the lightest shade. I’m also an ultra fair olive.
I initially found you through the Financial Diet and started watching your fashion videos (which I LOVE), and I didn't think I would watch your makeup videos because I'm just so boring with makeup and thought that they wouldn't apply to me, BUT GIRL, let me just say THANK YOU. We are the same age and I have learned more about makeup, about looking for makeup, about trying different things with makeup than I ever thought I would. Like, if there is a fancy event I'm just one of those people that puts on MORE of what I usually wear ha! Like, just a heavier dose of what I usually wear. I just never thought I would be learning anything new I could use about makeup now that I'm pushing 40. Thanks to you I am finally starting to experiment with what I have and switch out things that I've used for years, but honestly never worked for me, but I didn't know what else to try. Not in an over-buying type of way, but in a you deserve to finally figure out what works best after all these years of wearing the same makeup I've worn since....college? High school? Seriously. Love your content so much! It's so, so helpful. Thank you
I tried your Zaatar pancake recipe and it is life changing. Will you post more recipes that light up your life and “digest like a charm”? Such a joyful part of my day 🥰
I love these videos from you. First impressions are great and serve their purpose, but so often you never hear about a product again, and then you don’t have the information that I find most useful, which is how your opinion changes as you use something multiple times. Thanks for circling back and doing this!
Would you ever consider doing an updated babaa review video? I'd love to know what's in your full babaa collection now since your first review video of the brand, and if you could only invest in one piece, what would it be?
This colour scheme is (makeup & clothing both) is looking so good on you!!! Especially the blush! It's bringing out all the red in your hair in the most best way possible 💗 you look like autumn in June and that is high high praise I promise you 💕 looking forward to the surratt video (I am all atwitter about the blush) 💞
I'm not sure what swatches you looked at but missha #13 is totally desaturated and gray 😩 you ought to consider it someday when you're in need of a new complexion product!
I think you missed the update on the L'oreal lipstick in Le Beige. After your first impression I immediately bought it for myself and it has quickly become my go to lipstick that works with everything! I hope you're continuing to love it too!
I love the Nars lip balm in Fast Lane, I wear it all the time. When I watched the video where you tried it I thought “just give her some time” I knew you would end up loving it, it’s just so good ❤
Hannah I found your channel via your fashion/philosophy videos when I was postpartum with my twins last fall-I love love love that content! Thanks for making a playlist :)
I freaking LOVE the L'Oreal Prime Lab Redness Eraser! It's so so good. I'm thrilled to find such a fantastic redness product at the drugstore. Thank you, Hannah! 💚✨💚✨
Oooh I’m loving this grungy lived in look. You always look stunning. Also, thank you for taking the time for revisiting previous reviews because it is extremely helpful. 🙌🏽
I loved this format. It feels so nice to see you coming back to these products with your usual thoughtful analysis. I thinks it's going even deeper in the anti consumerism direction with fresh products than in your ruthless declutter. I really want to try that BB cream though, I wish it would work out as grey but still light reflecting. Now to finish my tinted sunscreen and it's coming in my next yestyle order.
Hot tip…if you have a Japanese grocery store within your area you might be able to find Canmake beauty products! I tried one of those blushes a few years ago and found it at Mitsuwa market. 😊
I ran out of my Purito BB cream right before your drugstore video. I purchased the L'oreal primelab redness eraser. At that time, I was also looking to fill up my sunscreen drawer for summer. I placed an order from Yes Style. I bought the Misha bb cream in 21, the Beauty of Joseon Calming Mask Set & two Beauty of Joseon sunscreens. Beauty of Joseon - Ginseng Moist Sun Serum and Relief Sun Cream. The primelab and Misha are both lovely. The Beauty of Joseon sunscreens though... yum. I ALWAYS wear the Ginseng Moist Sun Serum as the last step on days that I will be wearing any type of makeup. It is so dreamy!
I would love to see a video of you tinkering with the misha foundation and other base products to make them work for you, I think that would be fascinating.
Hannah I'm on staycation right now and I'm handsewing and this 30 minute video is such perfect content. :D I was just ironing a shirt from the costume box that is pure rayon! Thinking of your one rayon blouse...Have you tried using a little starch? I use a tsp of cornstarch in a bottle of distilled water and it makes the wriggley seams go straight again....
Handsewing can be so relaxing, ive recently started cutting up my kids old clothes and making boro style fabric with it and i intend to make an oversize sleep shirt with those sleeves that go down a bit at the arm gusset like a mini wing.
@@dayglodoggy That's so awesome. I'm making a skirt out of three of my son's old button downs. They were too worn out to even give to good will, but still lots of soft useable fabric there...:D
Your enjoyment of the Nars lip product makes me very curious about your thoughts on the new Kjaer Weis tinted lip balm formula. I would love to see you review it!
I got Nars fast lane when it went on 50% off sale for a day last year and I loved it so much I went though it in 2 months. I don’t think I’ve ever used up a lip product so quickly. It really was just so enjoyable to use and the sheer light pink glossy tint was soooo pretty
Okay. So. Wow, I liked your line about the NARS afterglow lip balm in Fast Lane about it being “serious” between you too lol, and the line was rattling around in my head for awhile. When I saw the balms at the store I swatched on my hand and liked it but was out of stock. Happened to see at another store, swatched on hand and was disappointed at how sheer it was. I decided to try it on my lips anyways, but was not impressed and kindly told the SA I would not be purchasing. It was just like a nice chapstick, not worth. Kept browsing at the store and my lips felt AMAZING and I looked in the mirror and they looked amazing too. I then back to the NARS counter and bought it 😂 and am loving it to this day! I rewatched your review and yep, I feel like we went through similar journeys. You are such a good reviewer!!
I’d love to see a more in-depth review of the Kimiko brow duo, as I’ve used the gel, but not the pencil. When you mentioned it in 2 of your videos, I was reminded to replace the gel, but decided to get the pencil, too, as I have used up all my pencil products (thank you, No-Buy Year! ❤). Thanks again for excellent content delivered with such erudition and insight!
I love the Cherry Pick Lip Color Butters! Kiwi Fizz is a favorite. Hautemess Tom mentioned the scent in their review too. I can’t smell anything! Maybe I should see an ENT🤔
Funny to me anecdote: Back in December you anti-hauled a lip balm kit from Sephora that I immediately purchased. It had a mini of that Nars balm in the shade Laguna. I love it the way you love yours haha. A $5 option that's like Nars and CT pillow talk balms had a drugstore baby is Wet n wild Rose oil balm in Taffy. It is a bit meltier and more glossy but a close color match and a lovely formula. No scent added so it smells a bit odd but I love it as much as the pricey balms
Love 💕 the reviews of green color corrector. Have you tried/reviewed Dr. Jart’s Cicapair color correcting line? My sensitive red skin is loving all the K-beauty products I’ve tried so far so I’m interested in your opinion. Thanks for all the fabulous content.
As I was watching this a video idea came to mind. As a fair olive gal myself, I feel like there is a debate about what bronzer undertone works best (at least a debate on the fair olive Reddit 😂). I recently purchased the Charlotte tilbury cream bronzer in the lightest shade. It has a slightly green undertone and I’m finding I really love it for my complexion. But folks online who also think they are olive hate this particular bronzer because of the green. They say it makes them look like they have a poopy diaper on their faces. Now it’s making me question, am I an olive after all? I love green color corrector and everything turns orange on me. But getting back to my original thought - I would love your opinion of what bronzers look good on olive skin, and/or in general makeup that compliment this undertone. Thank you! Love your videos and how eloquent you are 💜
Really enjoyed hearing your updated thoughts! It felt almost like a return on the investment of watching all the original videos 😘 On (the endless search for) green colour correctors, I've just bought the one from KimChi Chic but I'm scared to put it on my face because it's SO pigmented.
😊I love the Nars After Glow Lip Balm. The consistency is perfect. It is something inbetween lipstick and balm. I have the colour Dolce Vita. Lovely colour for me. My daughter has Fast Lane, and everytime she wears it, it is that little "something" on her lips.
I think you did a drugstore lip haul a while back. I'd be curious to know how they're fairing in your collection. You truned me in to a Maybelline and Revlon lip girlie. When formulas like that exist at the drug store I just dont have any desire to go high end. Especially after finding I preferred Juvia's Place matte lipsticks to Charolette Tilbury's. Overall I don't prefer matte lipsticks, but still.
Shade 13 of the Missha cream is definitely too pinky. I'm a long-time user of shade 21 that also has to use mix-ins to lighten it and the comments on your video made me realize there was a lighter shade so I bought it and yeah, way too pink lol
Yaaay!! 💜 ii’ve left comments asking for product updates so ty ty for this video! 💜 one of my favourite kinds, it’s interesting to hear your more developed thoughts and how something did or didn’t make its way into your rotation. you really hit on something with the quantity issue for green cc’s. i have rosacea so i really go through those tiny tubes. waiting impatiently for the l’oréal primer to get the UK (the others in the range are but not that one 😭) because i’m definitely not spending on the givenchy one. i feel very conflicted about the romand mascara because i adorrre how it looked on you (and others in videos i’ve found) but i am really not keen on the hassle of removing waterproof mascara. this is a very long comment but i want to add in case anyone sees it, i really think the Missha BB cream shade 23 also has that grey quality! i’m olivey/grey, although not as pale as you. i finally got to try it and i am SO, SO happy to finally have a complexion product that truly suits my undertone. (i am curious if you have any updated thoughts on “the saem” green beige concealer from yesstyle, and the about face shadowstick 💜)
Hello from Japan Hannah!🥰 Sad news, Canmake did discontinue that tiny highliter🥲 They made a new more beamy putty like highlighter that's in the cream blush component you reviewed, and it's quite diffrent.
I have Nars dolce vida lipstick - a glossy caramel sheer color, like gloss in a lipstick form and I do not want to be without it. I’m interested to try a mauvey color for fun! Thanks!
Hi Hannah, i'm so excited for the Surratt's video i've been waiting for a century for this one, also i'm still waiting for a sydney grace's single shadows video too ,kackie recently reviewed some surratt products but i love the quality of your filming way much better and the way you take close ups of products and swatches is so much informative and helpful in my opinion, for the Surratt video i want to know where the eyeshadows are made? and how long their shelf life? and whether they are magnetized or still not? and if you get the eyeshadow 'starr' can you please compare it to the Pat Mcgrath 'astral solstice' eyeshadow and thank you so much can't wait 🥰❤🔥❤🔥
not sure what specifically you may (or may not) have done differently with your makeup today, but you look especially lovely in this vid. :) also, damn, i'm so jealous of your MILES AND MILES of hair.
Have you tried dr. jart+ colour correcting cream? I would be interested in your review of the product. It is green cream and suppose to help reduce redness but blends out to beige. It might be too dark for your skin though 🤔
I have actually been wondering if you would speak more on your process for introducing new makeup to yourself and how you test it? You’ve mentioned “makeup playtime” before, is that an important part of your testing process? I’m noticing in my own life I have a hard time changing my makeup routine and really giving new products a chance. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I only do makeup before work or going out, which are pretty high stakes situations to take a makeup risk. Hannah, what is your process to step out of your comfort zone and get creative with new makeup?
Have you considered using a blue color corrector in the Nars foundation? I've heard of olive folks using that to gently color correct a product that's pretty close otherwise.
I have a little bit of redness on my cheeks I been using that elf color, correct or primer. It is wonderful. It works for me. In the past. I have used high and I’ve used make up forever which I love also. And I have use the Lancome one which I love also. I have normal skin. And those 3 work for me.
I just got the Nars balm in Laguna. I usually wouldn't pay so much for something like it, but its just so good. i find most tinted balms feel clunky and the color grabs more heavily on certain parts of my lips or feel greasy
I had the points perk version, and I love it too! It seems ridiculous to me to spend so much money on something so minimal, but I just might do it. If I love it, it’s better to spend my money on just that one thing, rather than hunting for the thing that’s like it but not as good.
oh, this is very random but what happened to the trixie gloss you got? i realised i didn’t see it in your winter declutter series and i’m curious if it’s still in your collection 😆
Hi Hannah. I guess I'm a stick person when it comes to lip products...hence the Nars lip balm has always been a temptation for me, although I haven't ever purchased this product. I do like a cheek product that stays. This is why I prefer a powder blush. But there are so many beautiful cream blush products on the market...the kind that are a cream to powder formula is my favourite in cream cheek products. As always, thank you for you thorough analysis on these makeup products.
I have a mini points perk of that Nars balm, in Laguna (I’m gonna assume, cause it’s bronzy). I love it, inexplicably, because it’s just so simple! I’ve been hoping to find something comparable for less money, but I may just bite the bullet.
Love you, love your channel and content. You’re killing me with the sweater.. it 110 here in the BAMA , even WITH air conditioning, girrlll, no. You’re looking glow and beautiful and happy, how you doing that in this heat? Would love heat+grown up fashion opinions by HLP
Missha BB cream is my forever go to for sheer glowy base. I LOVE it so much, I've spent like 3 of those so far, but it has to be light enough. and 13 IS gray! or neutral. it just looks weird when you put it on your hand but it somehow transforms on your face? idk, it's weird, but it looks much better than 21 (which i have and hate). 21 is gray/pink and 13 is just straight up neutral.
I have a question for you, lovely Hannah! Did you ever manage to find/test a combination brow gel and brow dye product like you mentioned in your video "My Free Advice to the Beauty Industry"? My natural hair colour is sort of a lighter version of yours and my eyebrows have always been (frustratingly) almost white blond, so I have a vested interest in any developments in eyebrow tinting technology 😂 I loved this revisitation of past reviews, by the way!
Hannah, I'm fairly new to the channel and although I've gone back through some of your older videos, I have mainly just watched your content from the past 6-8 months. I'm wondering if you have tried Dr. Jart's CIcapair Tiger Grass Color Corrector and if so what your review of it is.
I don't know if you mentioned these and I missed it, but I was wondering what you decided about the Lisa Eldridge palettes after, did any make it into your edited collection?
Regarding the foundation and your "lighter" use of base makeup, ive been using foundation as concealer (spot foundationing?) For a light, "natural" summer base. My skin is really dry and im in my late 30s so i dont know if ill ever go back to concealer. Currently using up most of my concealers as eyeshadow base ( which works for me since even my eyelids run dry rather than oily)
dont get another shade in the nars balm, I had some sort of kit that came with 4 shades (which at the time might have even been all the shades?) regardless, they all ostensibly look the same. was going to suggest the Soft Matte Tinted Lip Balm from nars but appears to have potentially been discontinued, at least in the uk, but if anyone sees it in store anywhere, I highly. highly suggest that formula..
How does one find a good color match for foundation/concealer without buying lots of expensive makeup? What part of my face is it supposed to match to look good?
I am sorry you hated the telescopic mascara may I suggest you try it in the gold tube which is the original. Many people including myself like it so much better.
I am comforted by HLP returning to the Nars fold. The universe is aligned again.

I hope Hannah also touches on the different of LA climate vs east coast climate!
Yes!
Yes. Sweat. 100 degrees out. Even though my priming and setting keeps my makeup on my face, I often don't want to feel like i have more layers on.
I really love your sign-off, Hannah. "Most effective version of yourself as you do your work in the world" is such lovely phrasing.
I’d love every beauty channel to do this, because so many products are tagged as “holy grail” or “life changing” and you never ever see them wearing those again!

@SolmAlexa where can I find her recipe? How did I miss this?….
Yes, recipes!
Hi! Tha t brown sweater is really a good color for you, very beautiful, and your base makeup looks exceptionally beautiful today :)

I'm not sure what swatches you looked at but missha #13 is totally desaturated and gray 😩 you ought to consider it someday when you're in need of a new complexion product!
yes, that's what I was thinking. it's basically an even lighter version of 21
Totally agreed! 13 is still quite desaturated compared to what's on the Western market. Still would really love for HLP to try it.
Kind of unrelated but rituel de fille just came out with a very pale olive shade of foundation and I would love to know your thoughts! 💚
I think you missed the update on the L'oreal lipstick in Le Beige. After your first impression I immediately bought it for myself and it has quickly become my go to lipstick that works with everything! I hope you're continuing to love it too!

Me too! I have it in Dolce Vita and I use it everyday and I thought "nooo, be patient with it! It's wonderful!" :D It's really good.
Omg I love the lips with that sweater😍 it creates such a great balance! You’ve really found your aura and colors girl! Way to go!
Hannah is here to keep me awake while I wait for my model to train! 🎉
The spectacular volume of this topknot is giving "bad wig" energy in the best way
Hannah I found your channel via your fashion/philosophy videos when I was postpartum with my twins last fall-I love love love that content! Thanks for making a playlist :)

the bifesta eye makeup remover is amazing at removing stubborn asian beauty mascara
I didn’t have any issues removing the Romand mascara, I use a little coconut oil to gently remove but I feel like any oil/balm cleanser should work 👍
“I’m not precious about it”-- made me think of Gollum.
This is my FAVORITE type of video you do - hoping thus can be a regular part of the rotation!

I use my Ulta points to buy the NARS lip balms ❤ the balms are comfortable, easy to apply & a tube lasts a long time, also the packaging is lovely

Could you do a babaa sweater collection overview and comparisons? The sale is about to happen and I’m curious ☺️Just a video idea
I got Nars fast lane when it went on 50% off sale for a day last year and I loved it so much I went though it in 2 months. I don’t think I’ve ever used up a lip product so quickly. It really was just so enjoyable to use and the sheer light pink glossy tint was soooo pretty
I have Nars ‘Fast Lane’ and am obsessed. I’m on my second tube of it. I also have the bronzey colored one, also great.
So looking forward to the Surratt video. They have been my latest luxury guilty pleasure
Okay.
Maybe you should 😂 they’re extremely scented and I have a weak sense of smell
@@leo0986 😹😹
The line runs very dark. Very peachy
Your whole look today is stunning!
love the longer videos! thanks for the updates!
I absolutely LOVE Surratt Beauty! I can’t wait for that video. Troy Surratt is a great makeup artist.
Ohhh cannot wait for the Surratt vid! You look stunning! ✨
Great video! And I love the return of the classic intro by the way!💖
As I was watching this a video idea came to mind.
I would swear to you I was just thinking yesterday about how this exact kind of video would be quite welcome from you!
FYI: Jane iredale is coming out with a new green color corrector next month.
Hi Hannah, I would be so curious to see you use a purple color corrector on your yellow leaning foundations. Purple should cancel out the yellow, no?
Hello from Japan Hannah!🥰
Sad news, Canmake did discontinue that tiny highliter🥲
They made a new more beamy putty like highlighter that's in the cream blush component you reviewed, and it's quite diffrent.
noooo I'm so sorry to hear this, but thank you for the intel!!
Glad you changed your mind on the aboutface lip butters as they are special
Could you add some of the white haus labs foundation to the missha Bb cream to lighten it ?
Lisa Ekdridhe has now foundation No 2,5 olive undertones... have you seen it?
I have actually been wondering if you would speak more on your process for introducing new makeup to yourself and how you test it? You’ve mentioned “makeup playtime” before, is that an important part of your testing process?
I’m noticing in my own life I have a hard time changing my makeup routine and really giving new products a chance. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I only do makeup before work or going out, which are pretty high stakes situations to take a makeup risk. Hannah, what is your process to step out of your comfort zone and get creative with new makeup?
You sold me on the prime lab and I’ve been loving it! Saved me from buying some high end version (for now).
Another of these, please!
Great video! Wondering if the Make Serum Balm is still in the mix as it has a doe foot applicator…
Looking gorgeous today, the full serve
Missha BB cream is my forever go to for sheer glowy base. I LOVE it so much, I've spent like 3 of those so far, but it has to be light enough. and 13 IS gray! or neutral. it just looks weird when you put it on your hand but it somehow transforms on your face? idk, it's weird, but it looks much better than 21 (which i have and hate). 21 is gray/pink and 13 is just straight up neutral.
I second this! Yes, 13 is for sure gray. I'm a fellow fair-olive and it's been my go-to for years.
That bun is epic❤
How is the quality of the babaa cotton jumper compared to the wool ones? 😊
I don’t have a wool one, but my cotton one has been worn and washed for 3 years and still looks basically brand new!
Okay wait! But what about the saemmul cloudy brown blush!!!
Indeed I wish I had that hair!
What is on your nails?! Press on nails or a nail polish? I love this color!
How does one find a good color match for foundation/concealer without buying lots of expensive makeup? What part of my face is it supposed to match to look good?
Wonderful video. Thank you for all you do!!
Love your bun! Please do a hair tutorial video!
I didn’t find the L’Oréal green primer to help very much with my redness. At all.
I am sorry you hated the telescopic mascara may I suggest you try it in the gold tube which is the original. Many people including myself like it so much better.
Dior Rouge Blush has a color called Grege - made me think of you.
