Thank you for making these informational videos about Dobermans. My male doberman puppy had this and we figured it was his slow feeder. We changed it for a metal one and now the chin acne went away.
Thank you. My cane corso has been getting acne. I thought it was from the crate but it was from her plastic slow feeder. I’m gonna hand feed her until her new stainless steel bowl comes in.
Since I was a teen, get obsessed with picking at my Dobie's chin. I'd want it gone as much for myself as my dog who has to get his chin constantly picked! Great video.
stridex I used before seeing this video. It did work . I used it lightly each day and gone in a week. It was bad too nothing like peroxide touched it. Also put on sublimed sulfur so might have been combination of both. This is good video. I was using metal and went to plastic and no problem now. I do use antibacteria wash soap after feeding my dog and on her bowl
Thanks for sharing I've noticed that my princess (she's a mix breed but I think it includes the Doberman) has chin hair literally packed inside the skin... I'll try the salicidic pads
Collars can definitely do that. I've had different Dobermans be reactive to different collars. I would have to play around with different material collars to see what worked for the individual dog. Plus, if he/she is playing with other Dobermans, it can be the result of their specific type of play. Dobermans like to mouth each other around the neck. This can cause tiny abrasions that bacteria can enter.
My Doberman has a spot at front of his neck that the hair is much thinner/ bald and he would often scratch and get bumbs on. I stopped leaving his collar on at home and in a week bumbs went away and he had stopped scratching. It's been almost a year now and this issue seems to have not come back so I think it was just from leaving his collar on all the time. There were 3 to 4 days where I had left the collar on him while I was at work and his neck had started to break out again so after that I had stopped putting the collar on him unless we are going outside.
No evidence of stinging that I've noticed. The maximum strength sometimes is overly drying, so start with the sensitive skin Stridex. Thanks for watching Betsy!
My dobe had this. The vet took a culture to find rhe best antibiotics. It took a long time but it cleared. I only ever had the one dobe with this problem. I have 2 more who never suffered from it
it comes from over 10 different breeds that do include german pincher. They dont know exactally how many however . Greyhound was the base of the breed, then Rottweiler, manchester terrier, German shorthair pointer, weimeramer.. ect. sorry for spelling not going to correct it.

Great idea if someone really wants to use a plastic bowl instead. Thanks for your experience with chin acne!
Strides linked isn’t benzoyl peroxide it’s salicylic acid.
I used to pop them when he was like 15 months old but now I know better

what causes tiny bumps on neck can that be the conrol collar? I removed all collars and using peroxide and sulphur will see how it goes.

Excellent advice for my young male dobe. He gets acne. Do the pads sting when you wipe the chin?

Could it happen from digging in the backyard. I clean my dog bowl atleast everyday ir every other day. My baby terrier doberman mix.
If he/she is also snuffling around in the holes, potentially causing micro scratches on the chin from rocks, roots and such, then absolutely!

Yes, I think it is just like people- some get acne while others never do. Glad you got it cleared up on the one. Thanks for watching Lesley!
Comes from the german pinscher line.

Damn, why did my vet Tell me to pop them
Ugh, sorry to hear that! It definitely does more harm than good, just like on human faces.
As a kid we had a dog that would get acne on her chin and in-between her toes. I loved popping them that was before I knew it was bad for her.
LOL, I think we can all relate to those days when we had far more energy than we did sense! Thanks for watching Danny!
