Watching Katie get her dues, publicly, felt really important to me. That woman doesn’t miss. It’s not a coincidence that she’s been a key player on some of Buzzfeed’s biggest shows-and in such a massive way. That seems like a lot of hard, quiet, unseen work. Watching her shown that she’s valued on such a large scale made me so happy. Rooting for her and Team Watcher always!
So Katie is the secret reason anyone really watched buzzfeed. Got it
And she left...buzzfeed must be loosing their minds trying to not die
And they didn’t appreciate her. Fools and buffoons
@@elanacarmine2477 Buzzfeed didnt appreciate any of their employee thats why they are fools and buffoons
@@antichrist4449 A company that was just valued at $1.5 billion and is soon going public will most definitely be losing their minds because 1 person left.
Fuck Buzzfeed but come on, they won’t be worried at all
Shes like Allison Jones.
Can I just say. Besides everything that is amazing about this. The fact that, Ryan says "someone who chose to work here" instead of "someone we hired " says SO much about the amazing mindset he has about the business
And Steven calling the editor the creative director of post production! These guys seem to hype their employees and seem to view them more as collaborators they pay rather than underlings
they are probably doing everything buzzfeed didn’t do for them, and that’s incredibly commendable. they saw everything that soulless company did wrong and tried to do it right on their own.
It always surprised me how underrated Katie LeBlanc was, surely she would have been poached multiple times before _Watcher_ wooed her away?
That's what I thought about Rachel on 2nd Try Team, like she lived so many lives, an Icon!
She produced all the good shit. Buzzfeed's screwed not that they've lost all 4 of them
Yea as an intern she worked at CBS news also worked at comedy central and Buzfeed she is very accomplished It's so surprising but i'm happy she's here
Definitely wish I could wooe Katie 🤍
Katie is honestly the Real MVP and I hope to see her on cam ore (only if she's comfortable of course). She gives off great vibes.
Everyone being emotional about Katie joining is the sweetest.
I came for the cool BTS footage and insights, but stayed for the genuine tears.
Memento mori
Memento Mori ^_^
I'm emotional over this omg
They all individually look like a different kind of dad
WAIT WHY IS THIS ACCURATE 👁👁
ngl at 0:03 I thought they were dads waiting for their children.
Ryan looks the most dad
vacation dad, sports dad, and wine tasting dad
I smell a Watcher remake of My 3 Dads
I'm a Katie stan now. Her intro was literally, the creator of why buzzfeed succeeded, ie, the golden content creators we know/follow. It's so sad to see someone so talented, be so underappreciated at buzzfeed. Hopefully she'll be an even bigger powerhouse than she is, in Watcher!
It’s crazy to see how much doubt and fear everyone was experiencing. On my end, I simply saw some of my favorite content creators in one channel and hit subscribe immediately.
Same!
I was awake when they launched one of their first 1’000 subscribers. I knew in a year they’d reach a million easy.
I mean, it makes sense cause they were just about to quit their jobs to start a new company and it can be very scary, as you don't know how the audience will react to this news and you are basically putting all of your money and faith into it so, there is a possibility that you loose everything. What if their channel launch Wasn't as successful as it is. What if not as many people subscribed.
I never knew how important Katie was until I heard of all the things she helped work on on Buzzfeed...
I think they've mentioned her on the Try Pod as well!
@@liriodendronlasianthus they did! I just commented something similar!
Almost made me cry bc she got so teary and their honest reactions to her joining
Im a fan of all theyve mentioned that katie did
@@helenfhnin Yeah! She worked at comedy central and cbs news woah
Seeing Katie tear up was surreal, she seems sooo kind, sweet and talented.
But it was real?
Lmfaoo
She is one of those things and it wasn’t surreal so
@@elliottbestt3238 what do you know?
@@NrG33BU33, I say yes as the end of her nose got red & shiny like when you cry. Look at it before & afterward.
Safe to say that Buzzfeed UnSolved wouldn’t have been such a hit without Katie as well.
When she was ready eyed and talking about how she wasn’t given the recognition she’s needed sounded like she was talking directly to buzzfeed 💀
face it, when you are an employee and in charge of creating the face for a product...your employer will keep you hungry.
Ofcourse she is, they have a reputation
it honestly broke my heart, too, because I can tell she is the kind of person who works her ass off (sustainably) everyday. she brings her A-game day in and day out, she's out here carrying projects, and it broke my heart to hear she hasn't been appreciated for that work ethic and commitment to excellence.

@@zebrazxx No new content? Are you blind? Too much spirits just released, before that was puppet history, are you scared and next week is new season of dish granted! If you like buzzfeed pumping 4 trashy videos daily then that's your choice, unsolved is officially in their final season, so the ghoul boys can focus fully on watcher, I'm guessing worth it will follow soon. Almost all the quality content creators have left that place, guess you still like watching who gets spanked for the 1st time videos eh?
@@Kenzaaa123 they chose to go to buzzfeed for a final season to give the fans an actual conclusion unlike many other series. They don't still work there its a mini contract to just finish this final season
Ryan breaking out the "Unsolved" voice for his narration... :-D
Thought this was "Are You Scared" for a second.
Ryan breaking out the unsolved voice to read to his children
He has an amazing narrating voice
@@s_napps "Daddy... Why are you making your voice all creepy?" - Ryan's children
"Let me tell you about the case of Mary and her little lamb" - Ryan Bergmeister
Honestly can't hear that voice without getting creeper out😅😅
I really appreciate the level of honesty in this episode. Especially about how off it felt for them to get so many less views than they did on their buzzfeed shows. I’ve always wondered how that must feel for a large scale company creator like them. Great ep guys.
This is Buzzfeed without the Buzzfeed. If that makes sense. I am immediately more impressed by this than the rotten husk of Buzzfeed. Raw, Real, and cringe-levels at all time lows here. This should be more relevant.
Buzzfeed is dead
This is so sweet 😭
You guys are awesome 👏👏
Oh my God you guys are here! 💛

But he would pronounce it Sodie Pop
Everytime I see a video where Katie LeBlanc shows up in the credits I'm not shocked that it is such a great episode. I'm happy to be able see Watcher's bright future unfold. You all are amazing and don't stop doing what you do.
Learning Katie was the common thread through my favorite buzzfeed shows makes so much sense!
true! makes sense how I don't find myself watching anything from buzzfeed anymore but binging everything in this channel instead
My absolute favorite show on UA-cam is Puppet History, that's saying a lot about a person who is in their 60s and even more about all of you!
@Aine Rogers sameeeeee🤣
I always think it says a lot that just you guys being honest about appreciating Katie was such an emotional blow to her. She deserved waaaay better than whatever Buzzfeed had her convinced her hard work and talent was worth.
They ALL deserved better than bun’s treatment!!!!
it definitely sounds like buzzfeed treated her pretty badly as a professional. glad to know she is now receiving all the love and appreciation she undeniably deserves
@@cosmic7336 I'm confused.. Is there info I don't know that says Buzzfeed did any of them wrong? I know all companies will have problems but is there specific issues with the guys & Katie? I don't keep up with buzzfeed at all so I'm just trying to figure out if this is just people assuming or hearing specific claims. Thanks!
@@LaPetiteBoulin From what I understand, and others are free to correct me, Buzzfeed has a specific "look" for their content and the expectations of their employees. It limits what they (Shane, Ryan, Katie, etc.) could do with their content. I also imagine that Buzzfeed's expectations where very high and demanding, they have built a company off the way videos are made and produced, and it may have caused Katie to feel pushed to do more without getting the credit she deserved. I remember when Safiya made her video on leaving a lot of issues were the demands regarding her Buzzfeed persona and rejection of a lot of her ideas.
It doesn't make Buzzfeed a bad company, but if a person wants to expand their content and also has those expectations pressed on them, I can imagine it would wear on them.
@@LaPetiteBoulin i don't think there is anything specific and i wouldn't like to speculate further, but something all the creators leaving buzzfeed have in common is that they seemed to want more creative freedom, so there's that
omg I’ve always read the name katie leblanc during the ending credits but I could never have imagined the sheer amount of genius that exists in that brain, like everything she touches turns into gold
Have you watched the D&D videos they did? Katie was great in them
@@mattsaracen7 Right? I enjoyed those so much!
@@kaylenc05 I really think Garrick, from Puppet History, would be a great addition to their DnD campaign. He has a great vibe that fits with the four of them, perfectly.
I like to see how this episode shows how different shane, ryan and steven are. Like, Steven is more detail-oriented basically the dude with all the facts, powerpoints (literally), graphs and what not and Shane is all about easy-going, the guy who looks like he's not afraid of anything but in fact is a scaredy-cat, the creative juice and then there's Ryan, the guy who balances both Shane's creative energy and Steven's seriousness (and honestly i think that is why he sits in the middle), the guy who's afraid of ghosts but still has the guts to walk in an abandoned prison. And, it's just inspiring to see the behind scenes cause seeing three different people with different personalities could create something this amazing is just amazing and honestly, something to be looked up upon.
Who else started crying when Katie was crying? She's so amazing, y'all.
dude, for real. I didn't expect it, but then when everyone in the video was expressing just this sheer relief that she said yes, her expression shifted and I was like "KATIE DONT CRY, GIRL YOU'RE GONNA MAKE ME CRY" and then I did lol

I know that Steven, Ryan, Shane, or anyone at Watcher is unlikely to see this, but watching this made me really emotional and I wanted to share my thoughts. As someone who watched all three of them on Buzzfeed since early highschool, it's been insane following them along on this journey, and I'm parasocially so so proud of them all. Watching them talk about starting a new chapter in their lives, and being able to do and achieve the things they've dreamed of doing, really made me tear up in a way. I have a lot of trouble being enthusiastic about my future or thinking I'm going to do anything I or anyone else will care about, but see them accomplish SO much kind of makes me feel like... if I just keep persevering, I'll be able to make something or do something that I'm really happy with someday. Even if its scary, and I have to take a lot of risks, watching Watcher actually kind of makes me feel excited for a future I might have one day. So, thank you all, for being you and doing what you're doing despite all the hardships - you're inspiring more people than you realize ❤
It goes without saying that I’m immensely proud of these guys, but the thing that had me tearing up was Shane seeing Puppet History released into the wild. Ruining History was a piece of art that was cancelled in its prime, and that felt devastating considering how much work Shane CLEARLY put into it. So to see the spiritual successor be born and flourish is what really got me going 🥲 It’s just so nice to see someone get that back, and not have to be concerned that the creative output might get taken away again.
i'm getting so emotional 😭 i was a big fan of unsolved, ruining history, and worth it. literally the only shows i watched from buzzfeed. i actually didn't realize you guys had left until i caught up on all the episodes. imagine my absolute delight when i found watcher a few months ago! been binging ever since. i watch almost everything twice bc i force my bf to watch when he gets home from work lmaooo. i'm so excited to see this channel explode. the kindness and sincerity i see as you guys interact with your staff and eachother makes me proud to be a fan of not only a great channel, but of truly great people.
i know you can't help but compare yourselves to the giant of buzzfeed, and i know these numbers build a lot slower and take a long longer. but the content is *chefs kiss.* the numbers will come. you can see that you guys have so much more creative control and because of that, the content is honestly better and improved upon.
you guys are gonna do great things. be patient and know that you have SO many people excited for you guys and your content. 💕
also i demand you keep putting out these "Making Watcher" vids!!
Buzzfeed is the poor man’s Watcher
Facts!
Buzzfeed had produced some of the greatest creatives. However, the new Buzzfeed guys don't seem to be able to hit the same kind of quality as their predecessors have. So totally agree!

With all the “I can’t believe the support”s at the beginning of the company, I feel like they didn’t quite understand how much we cherished them and their work before, so I hope that over the past year the folks at watcher have realized how grateful we are for them and that they can pretty much always count on our support
I would do anything for Katie. Her hard work being recognized made me tear up
It made me so happy to see how excited everyone was to have Katie on board. Having people openly acknowledging her skill and worth is just so validating and amazing 😭
I was not informed that I would be shedding tears today
I can’t wait until the day we see the required “Why we left Buzzfeed”
Steven starting a company with his closest friends just warms my heart. I remember the first video that I saw starring him was Steven hiring a life coach to help him make friends. I love this, its so wholesome. 🤗
I’d love another show that includes Katie. I know Socially Distanced D&D happened out of necessity but y’all can do something in person.
I almost constantly have that DnD campaign playing in the background because it's so entertaining and keeps my mind busy while doing other things.
I really hope they do another DnD campaign.
I don't even have the words to express how fond I am of all of you. A year and a half ago, I think I commented that I was weirdly proud of you for striking out on your own, even though I've never met you. Well, this internet stranger is infinitely prouder now. Thank you for sharing so much of yourselves with us. ❤❤❤
the slightly unfocused shot in the beginning as they spill their hearts out is just *exquisite*
the fact she cried and ryan did too made me cry as well.
Shane looked so proud while watching puppet history, and i hope the whole team feels proud about the content they release because they're definitely one of the top tier content creators online, from quality to engagement with fans. congratulations y'all ❤️❤️
I said to myself: the day I would feel we put the whole quarantine nightmare behind us, would be when I watch those three together again doing this. Today is the day, and I can't imagine how meaningful and important is for the bois as it is for us!
Steven touching Ryan reminding me of that Harry Potter scene where Voldemort goes “I can t o u c h you”
That’s what I was just thinking haha 😂
It’s nice to see the face that carried buzzfeed. I’m happy they have Katie. This is honestly such a wholesome group.
I'm normally the creep who just watches and never comments, but this video hit me so hard. Branching out and starting your own business, something that is the physical embodiment of your dreams, and placing it before others and crossing your finger and hoping for success is one of the hardest things to do. I'm genuinely so happy for all of them and that they can be themselves in every sense of the word. Congratulations guys! 💙👁👁

I loved the D&D series, Katie's in it too!
Y'all, seriously, I'm not joking when I say Watcher helped me get through 2020. Your videos are so funny and anxiety-reducing. Love you guys
I remember in the first video Steven got mad at Ryan when he suggested doing this because filming their struggles had been Steven's idea originally and Ryan poo-poo'd it at the time and then a month later he comes in and pitches it like it's his idea.
"I am so mad right now"
Not me crying along with Katie 😭😭😭 I always cry when I see someone so happy with tears
I was also tearing up too! :') Such a good team.
Watcher's gonna slowly steal all the best buzzfeed employees lmao
Really adored this video and seeing the "human" side of Watcher, and being able to see congratulations being given to the editors, artists, etc. And the work relationship is something that is fun to see because now I picture Steven as this Gen Z really empathetic and pragmatic person around the office who jabs with Ryan the office bro at the water cooler. And I totally picture Shane as a camp counselor leader figure who is telling everyone to take in the moment and tells wild fucking stories from "his days", I think everyone had that for theatre camps, or some super eco friendly environmental camp. Love this content! Much love to the whole team, from 🇨🇦💖
And total kudos on them opening up on the highs and the lows of starting anything new, feels much more relatable ☺️
You know Katie must be great that she was their pick becuase she is so highly regarded. I'm happy for her that she recieves the respect that she deserves and I'm happy that the boys were able to get her involved.
It seems that the Watcher team are full are awesome people.
You all have done so well. Starting a company from the ground up and sticking to your values- and maybe it's been a slower start than hoped, but y'all are doing your things with passion and joy and it's so obvious to see, and makes things more enjoyable for viewers. Being able to see the emotion behind the scenes as well, and get a glimpse at the daily grind, and also to see how much the team appreciates each other is wonderful. I'm so proud of everyone at Watcher, you all have done wonderfully. I look forward to more.
I love how Ryan's narrating voice is the same as his Are You Scared voice lol when he was saying "Hi, I'm Ryan Bergara welcome to making watcher" I expected him to be like 'SO aRe yOU scArEd"
I really want an animated version of the ghoul boys as awkward teenage ghosthunters ...I see a Martin and Lewis vibe where Shane could never see the ghosts that only appear before Ryan...idea to the world....and ......execute

I’d watch this
Am I the only one who thinks Katie is like a young CJ Craig?? She just comes off as so capable and on-task, but kind and warm hearted. And she keeps the boys in line, just like CJ.

Katie seems like a good person. Wish you all the best guys! I'll stick around with you all here
I’d love to see a making watcher about how they handled Covid as a new formed company.. like that had to be so intense and scary for them professionally putting aside personal feelings about Covid.
The Try Guys have mentioned how amazing Katie is and how lucky Watcher is to have her (I think Keith specifically mentioned it in the recent Trypod ep that Ryan and Shayne were on) so it’s great to hear more from Katie! And it’s also great that she really is so appreciated for her work!
Man i'm so proud of you guys i'm glad all your efforts are paying off 💖 I hope watcher continues to grow more and more! Thanks guys for making this amazing company
As great as Ryan and Shane are, none of us are anything without the people that prop us up and build with us. Seeing the behind the scenes staff (looking at you Katie) that put in just as much (and I'm sure sometimes more) work to bring us viewers the content we all love is awesome. Thank you to ALL of you at Watcher for everything you guys do. I can speak for all fans when I say we look forward to more great content going forward. We're all thankful for and proud of you all.

3. I like watching "making of watcher"
4. Love Katie, Shane, Ryan, Steven everyone at watcher
Coming from Buzzfeed, which seemed like a toxic and underappreciated working environment, I think Katie seeing all the praise and love for her work was so deserved!

Two Asians as founding partners. If you go by stereotype being detailed is inevitable.
It's always great to see Katie appear in the shows, she's not on screen often but it wouldn't be Watcher without her.
really glad they touched on going from major series with major views to a smaller company and dealing with getting less. i think content creators don't usually talk to their audience about that sort of mentality because they think it'll make things seem less relatable or robotic (which it doesn't have to be and certainly isn't the case for this video). also nice to see katie finally getting the recognition she deserves. being undervalued like that for so long must be traumatizing.
Katie worked with the try guys and unsolved and so many other famous buzzfeed shows. She is so amazing!! Even tho we don't see her so often on camera, she is doing such a great job. ❤❤❤
Shane's face watching Puppet History go live for the first time 😭💓

Seeing Katie get emotional at how much they appreciated her accepting was a lot. I'm so glad they showed her that
ok but the real question is why did I literally start crying (and I'm not exaggerating when I say literally) when katie was thanking them for sharing the video around the 8 minute mark....
"Ok we're gonna need Ryan and Shane....now to pick everyone else"
Omg seeing Katie cry made me cry! That was really sweet. It's always nice to feel appreciated for the work you do. The whole Watcher team is talented and I'm happy to be a subscriber

I really appreciate how open and vulnerable theyre being, to be able to see all the hard work from behind the scenes and all the other people that work really hard that we don't know as well PLUS ALL THE KATIE CREDIT I LOVE HER, just amazing and mind blowing how hard they've all worked to bring us their creations especially with how important it is for so many of us (pretty much one of the only things that make me smile on a weekly basis) just really appreciate everyone on the watcher team and I'm really grateful and emotional rn haha
Shane and Ryan mentioned her on the TryPod with the Try Guys a few weeks ago, and it was my first time hearing about her. It's my first time seeing her here but seeing her cry made me tear up!
