In this Cape Flyover, we saw loads of activity on the Blue Origin side, and almost none on the SpaceX side - could New Glenn finally be catching up to SpaceX? We look at progress on Relativity's front, and all that SpaceX is doing (or not) at 39A. It's an unusual flyover at Kennedy Space Center.

Does Mova Globe make that in a death star?
The man actually did it. He didn't shave until the orbital test flight.
For real? Is that the reason for the epic beard?
@@slaphappyduplenty2436 yup.
I truly didn't recognize him
That alone was worth all of the damage to the OLM! ;)
He looks like a different man…but better
Blue Origin finally picked up the pace and wait to read the positive comments about them, but everyone noticed Jack shaved, so.... :D
Respectfully, no; Bezos has always known how to build facilities. He’ll have ‘picked up the pace’ when he flies something- anything- to orbit.
@@dphuntsman all progress is good progress. It’s great to see them taking steps in the right direction towards their first orbital flight!
BO seems to strike me as the type that waits until they have all of their cards in line before showing their hand. Unlike SpaceX, which does so much work outside that you can follow almost everything they're doing with telephoto lenses, Blue Origin does more work indoors with the doors closed - but, that doesn't mean that they're just sitting on their hands and doing nothing.
Definitely keep an eye out for them - I have a feeling that they have a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes that simply hasn't been made public yet; when they eventually do go public, it'll likely end up catching a lot of people off guard, with them saying "Woah, where the hell did that come from??"
I have it on good authority Jack lost the beard by standing too close to the launch mount during the test flight.
Superheavy launch was so destructive it blasted off our guy's beard!
RIP Jack's beard.
Lookin good Jack! Also, these videos are fantastic, really loving the format and production quality. I just rewatched this one a couple times to absorb all the info in it, and you guys all do a great job presenting it.
WHERE BEARD?
Orbital flight test happened.
Funny you should mention access restrictions. It never ceases to amaze me how close anyone can wander to around the launch mount at Starbase.
Another great round up of the various facilities.
And the designer stubble look is great on Jack. Thank god that thing flew. I thought we were gonna lose him for good! 👊🏼
Love that MOVA is a sponsor now - the globes are awesome and definitely a conversation starter!
Now I think i am in love😁
Jack you look AWESOME!!!!
Always wanted to see the real person behind the beard.
Can you do a video talking about the different launch pads at the Cape and who owns them? They get too confusing sometimes 😅
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cape_Canaveral_and_Merritt_Island_launch_sites
IF they do this, they should Preface that Pads south of SLC-36 (like old Thor/Delta LC-17) are discontinued.
In other words, will no longer host rockets.
Then Start with Missile Row with SLC-36 and move North to SLC-20
LC-34 will like remain Apollo 1 memorial.
Then LC-37, which will be ready for re-development / lease by 2025.

Old USAF ITL (plenty of details) with SpaceX at 40 and ULA at 41.
No shave until next orbital starship? Deal?
I love the scrappy way space x builds rockets when everyone else has like hermetically sealed labs and such
I loved your beard JACK!!! I was shocked seeing you and hard to believe it's you, I'll miss your old look a lot! You kept your promise for not shaving it until Starship test flight. Great job
Blue Origin has gotta do something before i trust them lol
Agree, couldn’t care less about BO since nobody gets to know anything about them. Will probably see another 100+ falcon launches and a bunch of starship launches before BO reveal anything
That's freaking crazy I literally was just thinking about the progress over at the cape. And then y'all hit us with this gem nice well thank you!
Jack´s knowledge just dropped by about 69.420%
Wow Blue is actually doing something big finally! Maybe seeing startship actually launch was a wake-up call? Either way I had a good chuckle on the "rapid development" of JARVIS that has simply seen a tank moving around for at least a year now. Hopefully we something like a real rocket launch (that actualyl achieves orbit) from them soon! Great vid as always!
THE SHEEP HAS BEEN SHARED... ??? WOW... Nice look Jack!
Who is this stranger that sounds like Uncle Jack? 🤔
😮 He really did it. Jack, the beard, the legend..... gone...
Great job all y'all!! Really kicking up the production quality!! Loved the variety of host!
ps. Still jazzed about Starship launch. I just keep watching the launch over and over. Wen next!? Lol
Nice to see the talking heads occasionally to put a face to the voice, but mostly it's about the content. Nice mix of all parts. You have some obviously very talented people in the team, I particularly like the international and positive vibe of the channels content...
Meta comment: nice intro and segments, folks, wow! I know it probably feels funny to follow 'newsroom, field piece' kind of format on youtube -- and you guys acknowledge it, tongue in cheek, with your mannerisms and cheesy promos and so on -- but it makes a huge difference! It's *very* helpful for the viewers! Keep it up. :)
Very well done. By the by, I like the new look.
I usually skip ads, but that ad and acting was funny and amazing as heck!
I was so shocked at seeing Jack Beyer with a newly trimmed beard I couldn't pay attention to the video the first time around.
Can't believe you shared ☺! Looks Good Bro, almost didn't recognize you 😁👍
"SHAVED"
Great video guys! NSF is truly the Kings of spaceflight coverage!!! Keep killing it!
love the SpaceX coverage and love hearing space news in general.
Another great flyover video keeping us up to date on the happening around Florida. Thanks for making sure all us Space Nerds get our fix on what has, or in some cases, has not been going on over in Florida. And, as a now beardless Jack would say, be excellent to each other.
I actually thought selling the concrete lumps as souvenirs would be a great way to clear the site.
I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw the Blue Origin tank in the thumbnail. Would love to see New Glenn fly soon.
Like the new format for your updates. Thanks for all the information you provide.
By Odin's beard! Who the heck has commandeered Beyer's disembodied voice?!
New Jack. Welcome back
Jack u shaved your beard 😢😢
Who is that non-bearded man? Sound like Jack but it can’t be!
Brilliant updates, thanks NSF team.
Thank you Jack. The almost shaved beard is much more professional. Attractive even. Well done.
More steel tank watching? Count me in!
Blue Origin is working to catch up with Falcon Heavy, not Starship. That said, I really wish them the best of luck. More rockets better
Can't believe Falcon Heavy's first launch was over 5 years ago.
New Glenn's initial conception will be catching up to Falcon Heavy, but Jarvis (if it pans out) will be able to make it jump into competition with Starship since it would make the system fully reusable as well
@@thomashayden804 With a fully reusable second stage the payload capacity would be minimal. This is why Starship and its booster are so large because to get a reasonable payload on a fully reusable rocket needs larger scale. The extra weight of landing fuel, heat shield and sea level engines leaves very little left for payload on a rocket with New Glenn's takeoff thrust. You don't need to go as big as Starship but you need to be significantly larger than New Glenn.
BO can't even catch up with one piece of Falcon 9
SpaceX skipped the Saturn C-3 class rocket, once Jeff Bezos announced it 7+ years ago.
Von Braun’s Saturn C-3 was ~7m diameter with Falcon Heavy LEO lift capacity
Elon first aimed for the NOVA size (12 m diameter), like the Saturn C-8 design, BUT he scaled that design back - once he realized the logistics $$ (expensive) for a vehicle of that size. You either use barges or build at the Cape.
-
He settled on the 9m Starship size, a meter thinner than Saturn V, and the smallest to realize his goals.
really enjoy this video format.
Love this format! Very informative and professional.
The beard has left the pad
Yes, I really liked this format for your Wrapup
Wow Jack. A great beard it was. This new look is great too
WOW !!!! Can't believe You SHAVED !!! 😎
There's a man behind the beard !! Woohoo !
Thank heavens it's a Narrated video
Damn, starship was so powerful it blew off Jacks beard!
This is great. So much information. I love it.
Good to see Blue making some more moves.
Not really. Just glacial progress.
@@rogerphelps9939 Well look what glaciers accomplish.
But also its wrong, they have kicked it up to a normal space companies progress over the last year or so.
Over the entire context sure, they have barely done anything at all, being a space company for over 20 years without achieving orbit a single time.
😮 we need before and during and after pictures
The amount of money going into this must be incredible with no guarantee of success. I hope all GO well, and I would love to be a part of it one day I would love to go to the moon 50+ years ago I watched 2001 A Space Odyssey that what made me love space.
I like the new look Jack.
Im gonna throw in a hot take.
When it comes to development, even if less ambitious, NG did catch up to starship.
Great to see your face again Jack!
Wow I'd actually forgotten what jack looked like without the beard
Absolutely chintastic 👍
Thank you NSF!!!
Firefly at SLC-20
Major changes in orientation, new launch pad and its trench facing East.
Old pad and Trench being filled in, and where fuel tank farm looks to be located.
Jack looks so different shaved.
But great video again everyone
A great review guys, loving the format change.
The foundation for any building is the ground it is built upon. Footings go into the foundation, then the structure atop that.
Great update,thanks guys!❣️
Wow Jack cut his beard. Looking sharp my man.
Wow, almost didn't know you Jack! You DID shave...I really didn't believe you would.
Unfortunatley LC49 will likely close Playalinda Beach.
Greetings from Tel Aviv. Just got home to see this video, having walked past the biker who I think stole your beard.
I am so glad to see a Rough but much needed shave/clip
😀
I went to see this MOVA globe because I thought it was cool. starting price $500 (8 inch).......good lord!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack looking like a younger Lewis Litt from Suits
About time Jack.......looking much better
I had the idea of using the VAB as a hangar for Starship and Superheavy over a year ago.
I genuinely forgot what jack's face really looked like.
Jack looks GREAT with a shaved beard!
wait, what ... who is this imposter
Much better, dude!
great again, thanks
KSC should finally start building the other LC39 pads that were originally envisioned in the 1960s. One pad was cancelled and two more were planned.
Yes, they should have built another LC39 pad to put the Starship tower, instead of where it is now....
yes, kerbal space centre really does need more pads :)
The beard!!
Blue Origin has been frozen still for almost twenty years. Why are they so beloved by NASA? Without a single flight? Because so many former NASA people work there and emulate NASA's super slow testing regime?
Seriously! Imagine if SpaceX hadn't launched to orbit since its inception. Imagine the derision you would heap upon it.
Something is wrong there, and I think because the best engineers are at SpaceX.
Something isn't working. I'm guessing it is the carbon fiber touching on the cryo cold metal tanks. Something basic like that. A decision they can't back away from, again emulating NASA.
Just because Blue Origin doesn't publicize what they're doing every single day doesn't mean that they're "frozen." I think people have gotten a bit spoiled from being able to watch SpaceX's progress with Starship by just looking at how they build them practically outdoors, and don't realize that, for the majority of aerospace manufacturers, the work is done inside and behind closed doors.
Anyways, your ideas of "something being wrong" and "something isn't working" and postulation about carbon fiber is 100% pure unsubstantiated speculation. Just because you aren't able to literally look over their shoulder and see what they're doing at any moment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, does not mean that Blue Origin is "frozen" and sitting on their hands doing nothing.
"NOT THE BEARD!" - Gimli
Dam it Jack, now I can't say
"when shave" you ruined me being an ass hat!!! 😢😢🥓🚀🌙 I Love my metal Print.
Good presentation Ryan
Jack face reveal!
Woah, Jack is starting to grow a beard!
Only reacting to the first part. But spacex just launched the largest rocket in history and are working out flaws so it would make sense for them to be quiet for awhile
Shaved Jack is just too cursed
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the marvelous beard is gone! So much bacon went into the growing of it. 😭
Awesome updates!
12:18 - Everyone calm down! We all know Delta 4 Heavy is a queen and her launches always get pushed back. Although it does seem like ULA's reliability isn't quite what it used to be anymore...
Love the new haircut Ryan
Omg... Jack looks identical to Sergio Garcia in his prime...lol do a side-by-side
Brilliant video guys
mova globes are great. I have a spinning ikJupiter. Buy the biggest one you can afford
The beard man!!! 😁
