My 3rd grade teacher was Mrs. Kennedy. I was in her class when President Kennedy was assonated. I remember her crying in class. But for me, she had made me stay after class for talking. I started crying because I would be punished when I got home late(my dad was free with the belt) She wrote a note to my parents that said she had kept me after to help her so I wouldn’t be punished. It was a kindness I never forgot. And, I’m an experienced cook and never noticed the markings on the cream cheese. I enjoy you and your content very much.

I’m now grateful for Mrs Rogers, because the way you teach us to cook has to mean you were a good teacher in school too. And without you and her I wouldn’t have gotten this great recipe. Thank you so much. Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤

So many teachers come to mind but the first is Louise McCommons. She was one of my sixth-grade teachers. Like so many young girls, my self-esteem was not the best. I remember writing an essay and she liked it so much she read it aloud to the class. I could feel my heart swell as she told my peers that she liked my writing. I've never forgotten how I felt that day. Such a small thing became a big thing to me. I'm 74 years old and, even today, tears come to my eyes when I think of her.

It was my 6th grade teacher Miss Elizabeth Williams, in the year 1963. Miss Williams made an impact on countless children because she taught at a few schools in the Knoxville area and I believe she became a principal. It just so happens she lived to be 102. She taught me the love of art and if a job is worth doing you do your best no matter what the job at hand was. My youngest sister was very much influenced by her too. Miss Williams was very stern but also very caring. You have brought back a flood of good memories, Thank you for both the tassies and a stroll back into my childhood.

Hi there! I've just recently found your channel, and I'm so glad I have! I totally agree with all the comments made here. I'm only 68 as well, but I've always wanted to learn how to make one of my childhood favorites given to me from my grandpa as a special treat! I've watched so many cooking videos to learn how to make these delicacies, but they always look so difficult and I shied away from that. I do a lot of baking but as far as the little mini things go I don't do that. So when I came across your channel and I started watching every video you made I was just amazed at how well you came across with all of your recipes and how easy you made it sound for us to do it and they were all simple recipes but you described everything in detail and even gave a special little tips and to me that's very helpful. I have a little bit of forgetfulness going on right now and I actually can honestly say that this mini pecan pie recipe is now embedded in my head and I cannot wait to try it! My boys have always loved those little mini pecan pies from the store but I can't describe how different it is when you make your own and I want my boys to taste that. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful recipes that you and Melissa put together here! I am so grateful and so blessed that I found your channel. God leads me to these wonderful channels and I thank him everyday for that. Tonda in Ohio

My favorite teacher taught me to love to read. I remember when the class read "The Headless Horseman" how Mrs. Edelman put out the lights, drew down the shades and made rhythmic thumping sounds in the back of the room to the part where poor Ichabod Crane rides his horse over the bridge. We were wonderfully terrified. 😂 I'm 75 and the story still delights me. Oh, and the Tassie recipe is just the way I make them too. Delicious! Thank God for great teachers everywhere. ❤

Love the recipe and your story. My favorite teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Lingerfeldt. Her husband was a teacher and principal. They both loved children, and the children loved and respected them. That was back when we said a devotion. She taught us about some famous artists and showed us their paintings on large flash cards, and did the same with musical instruments. She taught us so much more than the regular curriculum, always kind and patient. She very often would surprise our class with a treat, like a small cup of ice cream (with the little wooden spoon). Those memories of my school years are so precious to me. I wish everyone could experience the school era that I did, graduated in 1969.

She would start our day with a prayer and then pledge of allegiance to the flag. She read a chapter from Peter Rabbit and then later The Boxcar Children each day to the classroom. We looked forward to it every day. She instilled the love to read in me and respect for myself and others. She made an impact on my life too. ❤

I remember she had a peanut butter sandwich, an apple, and a container of milk every day for lunch.. such a special lady. She would tell us a Bible story every day after lunch. They're not really known to very many others outside their own communities, but they're the kind of people who make all the difference in the world to the people they encounter! She's also the reason I read books to my daughter. Every Friday afternoon Miss Olson would read a chapter or two of a classic book and I remember listening enraptured while she read to us. During my educational tenure, I had the privilege of teaching elementary, middle school, high school, and eventually at the university level. My first, and most profoundly influential teacher was Mrs. Esper Yauck. She, sadly, is no longer living, but her gentle guidance began my sure-footed and lifelong quest to learn and lead. Mrs. Freeman was a short, curly headed lady who had dancing eyes. However, one look at her when she wasn’t pleased was enough to convince us to change our behavior. The teacher that influenced me was Mrs. White she was so kind and compassionate. I was sick while she was my teacher and I missed school due to surgery. Mrs. White came to my house to teach me the lessons I missed because I was so upset and didn’t want to fall behind. She really didn’t have to do that and that was a true testament to her character. God rest her soul she was definitely loved and I’m glad I had the opportunity to say thank you.

What a precious story. What an impact Mrs Rogers made in your life. I had a wonderful teacher like that as well and one day I was collecting donations for MS . I knocked on a door it opened and there stood my precious teacher Mrs White. I was shocked…not sure where I thought she stayed when she wasn’t at school I had so much respect and admiration for Mrs White. I was sure she lived in a place with other SPECIAL teachers …not just a nice house on a nice street like a regular person. Never the less I was so happy to have found her. I can remember cutting Beautiful pink and white peonies from our front yard. Wrapping them nice in damp newspaper to be given to a terrific teacher. Then I’d watch all day her swatting ants off of her desk Peonies HAD a crazy abundance of ants on them never saying a word only appreciative for her gift =}. …… not realizing what a special gift she was to me. Love you Mrs White. And please don’t grade this..I’m quite certain I have run on sentences and bad punctuation , but my gratitude is pure and honest 💛❤️💜💛🩷🖤💙💚🧡🩶🤗. Hi Tom and Melissa. I really love your videos - very informative, very down home, very organized, and entertaining. I also had a teacher who impacted me and I also got emotional when you were talking about your Mrs. Rogers. My teacher was Mrs. Z, and she taught kindergarten through sixth grade in our little tiny school. She was really the only person in my childhood who noticed me in a positive way - the foster home entities didn’t. I moved on after the 6th grade and I lost touch with her and now in my 8th decade I wish I could tell her how much she meant to me and how much she impacted me. God bless you teachers.❤

Back in the days of raising a family, these were always on the Christmas holiday baking list. I loved my family and would do anything for them. Now that I am 70 and one son asks for these, my mind immediately goes to how time consuming not only pressing the dough into the cups but also praying they would release and look decent. Seeing you use your tart tamper might turn into a game changer. Miss Simmons, 5th grade, Caldwell Elementary, Garland, Texas.

A great recipe to add to my Christmas gift boxes for friends! Thanks so much!! Always love your recipes and stories. I was blessed to have several teachers that guided me through the years. As a retired teacher, nothing pleases me more than to see my former students. I began teaching elementary school and then was a stay-at-home mom for several years. When I decided to return, the middle school principal, who is a member of my church, convinced me to give middle school a try!! I absolutely loved those years. Just figured that God sends missionaries to the Middle East, and Middle School was my mission field! Our former teachers, colleagues, and students showered blessings on us!!

I retired from teaching 2 years ago. I became an educator after having so many ineffective and uncaring teachers in my elementary and secondary school years. I was determined to be the kind of teacher that I longed for. I had a wonderful 30+ years of teaching, separating my career by being a stay at home mom for 18 years in between jobs. I retired still loving my job, my subject, my students, and my colleagues. I hope that my students will remember me and will know that they gave me some of the most rewarding and joyful years of my life.

They do look delicious thanks for sharing. Tom, You should send the video to Mrs. Rodgers. I had a special teacher also. He was a drafting teacher. His name was Mr. Sharp. He had a way of explaining things and making you understand it. He was a great storyteller. He was a shofar for some rich man when he was a teen. That is how he worked his way through college. He was a nice soft-spoken man and he just had a way with his students. I am not the only one that admires him as a teacher. He was very old in high school. He was also building a cabin in Bocnos for him & his wife. He talked a lot about that. I hope he got to enjoy it. But somehow I don't think he did. Thanks for the video. It brought back a great memory. THUMBS UP.

She kept track of all of "Her Kids" as we grew up.
