Thanks for the vid! And I promise I haven't forgot ya!🤙🎣
Appreciate it man!
Keeping it simple:::it works !!
Absolutely!
Some OG tried and true rigs. I haven’t been seeing many coho yet this year up in MA7 & MA9 (I’ve been beach fishing while my hobie is out of commission).
Soon!! We marked some good schools in area 10 over the weekend. Thanks for watching and the support
Great video!
Thanks for watching and the support!
Not sure if you read your comments. Love what you doing
I do :)
Thank you for the support and watching
Thanks again brother for responding. Got a better handle on what I'm doing wrong with the flasher now. Fishing off of vashon Island. Light the bottom fish 2 in any ideas on rigging that. I want a guy might go to do well there too?
man I would love to fish with you some day
Not having any luck getting the flashers down. Is there a method to drop a 5 Oz weight in front of the flasher? 410 or whatever you're using without the downrigger
Yes this will need a bumper setup with a weight ahead of the flasher. Typically this is 6-10+ oz depending on current/speed. I can look at making a rigging video
@@HolyMolyOutdoors how far ahead of the flasher?
@@HolyMolyOutdoors and thanks for responding
@@joelrettinghouse6492 typically 24” is what I’ve run but even 36” for spacing
I think you could have easily added a third, one that isn't technically a rig, and which can be fished with just a single knot to the mainline - the humble jig
A jig is definitely one to add in the mix. For me these two are mainly what I run for confidence wise
What make/model of fish finder are you using? Much appreciated...!!
Thank you for the question and watching. I’m running a Lowrance 9” HDS Live on the Helm and the same unit in the rear. Been great units so far for us
Have you tried a Brad's super bait in the salt yet? I gear the CR guys chatting about them but never tried one.
I have actually! Ran the Kokanee cut plugs for resident silvers and did really well. Always have them on board just in case.
@@HolyMolyOutdoors Thanks!
Also, have you tried any other method besides using a down rigger when trolling?
I have yes. Motor mooching with a herring and sinker can be very effective in the right conditions as well as droppers and flashers. All depends on where the fish are feeding at. Downriggers allow for precise depth targeting but are not the only option
how do you control depth ? No weight ?
95% of the time I’m fishing with Downriggers. I will also run a dropper rod off the back too
Do you have links to what type of lures and flashers you use? Thanks
Yes I do I’ll put them together for ya! Do you have a best email?
Are these setups only for downrigging mooching or trolling?
hi, im planning to go to seattle first week of november. Any place you recommend to fish from the shore. Or may be a non expensive charter? thank you.
By November most of the beach fishing opportunities are over in the saltwater. The salmon will be in the rivers at that time and you will have some opportunities around the Seattle area for both bank fishing and guided trips. Most guides are in the $200 range for Washington
Do you know if the area of water by shilshole bay a good spot for salmon fishing? Thanks
Definitely can be all the way out to the green can. Just look for the tide rips and bait. Especially for silvers and pinks but kings are in there too
is it realistic to catch some silvers from shore?
100% you can. Little different techniques than from a boat but very effective. I will have a video soon to showcase
@@HolyMolyOutdoors thank you! that would be really helpful. got skunked on the sound but i didn't see any schools coming through. will definitely try again.
Buzz Bombs and Crocodile type spoons casted and jigged back on retrieve are deadly for Coho if they're around. Best spots are points that have big rips during tide changes, and beaches that have a fast river-like water movement along the shore and parallel kelp beds that follow the shorelines. Fort Casey on Whidbey is a great example of a point. Just north of that point, the long beach to the north is a salmon highway in the fall. Sound bound Coho in the fall run right along the beach and kelp beds as they head home to spawn. Cast to the close side of kelp or out in a swirling rips on points. The action is pretty well over by early- mid October.
@@gjbingham Thank you! Looking forward to getting some pinks and cohos from the beaches this summer/fall. Appreciate the knowledge drop!
This setup isn't a great pink killer. I only remember catching one during the three years I lived there (right at Ft Casey). I fished a ton. Up in Adak, we used a silver spoon, maybe two inches long, that had a pink plastic insert in the center of it - that was considered the best way to catch pinks. I can't remember the name but I'm sure you can find it easy enough. Good luck!
Ok what size lines
You also need a boat... What about for us shore fishermen?
This is geared to boat guys yes, shore video dropping this week as well. Thanks for watching and the support
What is the leader length for the setup you show?
Thanks for watching and the question. For the squids I try to run 28-36” leaders tied direct to swivel of flasher. The spoons I run 36-42”
@@HolyMolyOutdoors ok, thank you so much
What size hoochie do you use?
I run the 5-6” sizes or the Ace hi and Olympic tackle squids. But there are times when a downsized presentation can work as well. I always let the fish or bait tell me
Do you need a downrigger or how do you reach the depth
You don’t necessarily need one but depending on the style of fishing being done yes a downrigger helps quite a bit
How deep should you fish for Kings?
Great question! I chase the bait when targeting Kings. Sometimes it’s 200’ sometimes it’s 50’. But having the right speed and depth seems to make it happen. We were going 3.0-3.6 Sunday on our fish
Sounding out salalman.
How about rod setup?
I can definitely do that
