    Beach fishing is one of my favorite things to do in the late summer and fall before the rains push all the fish up river. This video breaks down some of the options for both North and South Puget Sound anglers. Hope you can get out and enjoy this great year on the water.

    What does it mean to “get ahead of the tides?”

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      My reasoning was to be planning ahead of when you need to be at the specific beach. Some fish better than others at different tide as and being able to get there ahead of the peak time allows for beating the crowds as well as being ready for the fish

    The Dash Point pier is closed for safety but the cool part is this summer the WDFW released an emergency rule lifting the 100 yard barrier around the pier so you can beach fish at dash. It's been a very productive beach this year

    Heads up if you want to fish Fort Casey: There's two different protected areas there that you can't fish: On the south facing shore by the Keystone jetty is the Keystone Conservation area that goes from the east side of the jetty to the eastern most row of pilings by the old military wharf. Then on the west facing shore, there's the Admiralty Head Marine Preserve which starts roughly at the northern part of the main fort and battery and continues north until about the conference center.

    Lincoln park is a long, long walk. Through the forest, down a massive hill to the beach then carrying all gear and fish up hill. Not suggested for people out of shape.

    A good place to target now are some of the tidal rivers, the pinks are still silver with sea lice. I have been killing it with the all pink jig I got from you and limiting out every time. Coho and Kings are there as well. That rain has really helped out, they can smell their spawning grounds.✌

    You talk about timing the tides a lot. Do you mean being out there as the tide is coming in to catch the fish being pushed in close? Or high/low slack? Or…?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  10 місяців тому +2

      Thank you for watching! Yes is the short answer to your question. I have always had best luck timing when the tide is coming in which pushes bait and fish closer to shore. A lot of that as well is having moving water. The hour before and after both high and low slack are moving the fish and having them active. Slack tide (doesn’t mean you can’t catch) but typically that’s when you get stuck with a lot of debris and can be frustrating.

    It’s better to go at low tide or high tide?

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  Рік тому

      Traditionally an hour before and after high tides were the rule of thumb I always went off of. However this year I started fishing that hour before or after the low as well and still caught fish. Seems having the tide moving has been the key to success

    Can the 10:43 beach fishing allow Plunking fishing for Coho or Chinook salmon? I wish to know more where I can go to the bank of Columbia River for plunking. Do WDF have information about plunking salmon for Columbia River for bank or beach ?
