Great video as always and also nice to see pro struggle sometimes also ;). I fly Apache from CPG seat and do all the work. George is grounded because of disobedience hehe.
So the Limas are a kind of active torpedo in the water, pinging like crazy for a target. Is this more precise and accurate with the FCR? I mean do the Limas get target tracking via the FCR until they hit the correct target or do they also get just the initial contact data?
@@schoolio64D Ah ok, that means you should never ever use them in Danger Close situations. Are they capable of recognizing friendlies and enemies by the radar signature or are they just stupidly searching for a radar-target in the given targe location?
@@thomas_ger4098 I would never use them around friendlies. They do not discriminate, and as you see in the video, several times they picked up the wrong target.
@@schoolio64D understood. From my perspective they are highly effective against SAMs (SA15) as you only need some seconds to lock the target and fire and then you can mask again.
I haven't tried it yet, but can the Lima models be guided with the coordinates on the map being used as the designation point? Say you've got the coordinates, you put them in and create a waypoint and then select it on the TSD, could you launch at that point and have the missile guide to it?
According to the documentation I have, which is admittedly 20 years old, the only way to transfer targeting data to the missile is through the FCR, an IDM, or the laser.
@@schoolio64D Thanks! I was curious if the TSD would let you hide behind a hill and fire at a waypoint. Oh well, these things are still awesome even without!
I noticed the limas go left or right (I assume to get a better picture with their radar) after leaving the rail. Can you know in advance on which side they are going to go? Can you influence it in any way?
From what I understand, when firing in LOAL the missile will use DBS or Doppler Beam Sharpening to get a better lock on the target, the missile curves left or right to reduce ground clutter that might make the target harder to track. This is only when the target is 2500m+ and the target is stationary. If the target is moving or the target is closer than 2500m the system will default to a LOBL shot and DBS is not used.
Have you tried to use the Limas with George in the front seat? Me and my friends tried, and for us George went crazy.. no matter what armament, even without wazzing any weapons he was looking around for targets panning the whole range of the Tads (like a radar scans ahead) left to right right to left up and down... Do you have any insight what can be the cause of this? We couldn't engage any targets. Even when I jumped in the front seat It took me about 10-20 minutes till I found what switch to press on the right hand Tedac controller, than it stopped the Tads going crazy (even on it's own without george). Just seems really off for me, I don't think this was an intended change.
It’s a known bug - the LST defaults to on. Get in the front seat before takeoff and turn it off. That’s about all you can do. I haven’t tried them with George yet.
@@schoolio64D before the last patch upon pressing LMC , TADS gets stabilized but now you must manually stabilize it I don't really know how it works it real life just said what I experienced
@@schoolio64D something with an update a week or two ago. You need to jump in the front seat an flip a switch otherwise the AI gunner just keeps scanning and never locks anything.
@@toddw6716 oh yeah I think I talk about that in the video. You just have to jump in the front seat before takeoff and turn off the LST. I’m sure that will be fixed in the next patch.
Love your videos., Thanks so much for doing them. 🍺
Thanks a lot for the video....always enjoy your voice and content

Yeah I really should practice more from the front seat. ☺️
114L... Jane's Longbow 2 intensifies.... SOON.
If you have a mix of L and K Hellfires on board, how do you switch between the two different types?
You should be able to select on the MSL page, R1 I believe....
Hit WPN then R1 to switch between SAL and RF.

Once they leave the rail, they are on their own for guidance.

turns out LMC never worked as intended, the way it is currently is how it will stay since that is the correct way acording to ED

Absolutely.
