In my mind, still one of the best looking little 3 door hatches that nobody knows about. It's great to see it getting so much love on the channel too. Mine used to run a bit lumpy when cold too and it turned out to be a coil pack issue. Hope you do keep it and it'll be interesting to see what the MOT discovers.
There was a special edition in this colour and with those wheels called the Spectrum so i wonder if that's what yours is.
Jerry again being a legend who never seems phased by the work a car needs.
@@alansimpson835 thanks again Alan you and others seems to be loving this little car!
Yes someone told me about a Spectrum edition, don’t think mine is as nothing on the logbook saying so…so I doubt it…
What fantastic energy
@@LovingAllLife thanks, I’m very passionate about cars you see! Thanks for watching and more to come
I have bought several salvage cars. You sure got a nice dad.
@@Southernshaker oh really. This is my first although technically not a salvage car itself but yeah…thanks for watching, more to come.
Being a Norwich boy.... It's great to see a proton getting resurrected! 💯🙌🏽
First time I have watchedyou. What a great video! You have a very clear and informative style of presentation. Loving the Proton, a good looking modern car. I will be watching more.
@@andrevassili1039 thank you, kind words. Check out the first video I did on this car also…more to come!
@@Driven247 I did, it was great. You are a refreshing change, can't wait for the next one.
Thanks Ambers Dad. :)
And (as a regional resident holder) it's great to hear some awesome regional accent action. :)
@@Driven247 Naaaaaarfook for me. Similar... Dorset is what people end up sounding like when they try True Norfolk.
Good to hear that you've kept the original plates. You can get new plates made as exact copies of the original ones to keep the original look, which will be good for shows.
Enjoyed this video. Well done to jerry as always. I bet martin cant wait to get stuck into cleaning that engine bay😂. 👌
Thank you, he’s always wary of engine “cleaning” though, water and engines don’t mix well sometimes, we recently found that out but said car is ok now…can’t wait to clean it up yes, for sure!
@Driven247 Yeah, thats true. Silly me. Lol. Also. Enjoyed the live stream, i went back and watched the last bit i missed. 😁
@@MrHappyraver noo, not you being silly at all, but it shall get cleaned and aw thanks!
Good job great to see a Proton, my dad has a Persona I'm lucky enough to drive it regularly lot more interesting than a modern car!
Very rare colour for a proton will be watching this as I have a lotus proton that needs some tlc
Do you? The GTI? I use to have one, very good cars! Thanks for watching, more to come.
@@Driven247 top tips from what i do know about them, rust is always a huge issue on these cars - behind the bumpers the chassis rails crash bar and that will show huge signs of rust, the rear hatch always has rust behind the plastic number plate holders, take the rear lights out and check for rust inside and behind the rear lights, and they look amazing with the angel eyes head lights , the windscreen is always prone to rust bubbles! And the tappets can always be noisy on these cars until they get a full amount of oil in them.
Good save! Great project enjoy it. New sub 👍
Thank you! Check out the first video I did on this car if you haven't already...
@@Driven247 will do just came across your channel 😃 I'm after another project car once I get rid of 2 90s motorbikes 🤣
@@rickoshea1027 sounds like a plan. Thanks for stopping by and watching my videos!
@@rickoshea1027 thanks, been doing it for year, love UA-cam and big love for all cars to be honest, I’ve owned quite a few and a few rare ones too! I’m UK, down South, yourself?
Great watch Amber glad you're doing good 👍 I'm still loving my low mileage W202 C200 btw 👍
You could do a 'proton to biposto' series where you buy and flip cars until you have enough to purchase a 695 biposto. 🎉🤘
Yeah, tried to flip a car on UA-cam before, as in, honest with how much I paid for car, how it sold and what I made, got a few nasty comments like your not allowed to sell a car for profit etc although loads of UA-camrs do it! Thanks though Jamie!
@@Driven247id do all that behind the scenes, just sell them and introduce the next project each time. And just document each car, keep the figures to yourself 👍🏻
Having worked at a few motor factors I managed to get some of the old catalouges etc & also do a bit of cross referances on a certain auction website & get my Fiesta parts dirt cheap
Exactly, thats the correct wording, cross reference! After some digging, they found me the correct parts!
Thanks Nick.
That's a nice car! I've never seen this model of PROTON before!
Thanks Nygel. I use to also own the GTI version, a proper hot hatch version of the Satria.
Thanks for watching.
@@Driven247 - that was supposed to be a pretty decent hot hatch. A hidden gem
I bet there aren't many of those left now - Protons were always underrated machines in my opinion. Yeah, these are based on old Mitsubishi models handed on to Malaysia to get their motor industry going, but I remember when the Satria GTI appeared. Now that was a head-turner and a proper hot hatch - I'm not really into those types of cars generally, but I would definitely have one of those in a heartbeat!
No, I think under 10 of these models on the road…I also owned the GTI once briefly too, that’s on my channel a few years back.
It’s a shame Protons aren’t worth the money, for example if that’s was an old Honda civic, it would be.
A few people saying how reliable these cars should be etc too!
Thanks for watching.
New subscriber here. Great video!!
Thank you very much, more to come and if you haven’t already, check out the first video I did on this car too!
Satria was basically a Mitsubishi lancer mirage in Australia and we had them where quite reliable cars
Really enjoyed the video. Looks like a cracking little car.
Few rust spots I spotted around the rear window that need sorting.
One question. How big a turbo can you fit in the engine bay? 😁
Thanks Paul, kind words.
Yes, few spots of rust on the roof too…solution I reckon, sand roof ones down, then roof wrap?
As for rear window rust, assume window out job? Not sure!
I assume it wouldn’t just be a turbo, surely more engine mods would be needed? Thanks Paul.
@@Driven247 not sure how much it would cost, but vinyl wrap the whole car in something like Galaxy wrap. It looks like a galaxy with all the stars etc.
Looks like a great car even with the few issues it has.. Any idea why it was sent to the scap yard ? Or didn't i miss you you talking about that.
Thank you. Unfortunately I am not sure I can only assume owned by an elderly owner who passed and family got rid of the car…due to the lack of miles suggests not used much and potentially owned by elderly person…would love to know the exact reason!
Thanks for watching, more to come shortly!
Yes it might of had the oil drained out being ready for scraped you should of noticed the oil light when you started it good job you didn't run it for long I'm sure wat ever it needs for a mot your dad will sort its easy to do the cambelt on it but the exhaust sounds like its blowing I would do the fuel filter and clean the plugs as well before you take it for MOT a little you should haven't many problems hopefully
Thanks Peter...don't think an oil light came on though...but I am glad I did check it, good idea on fuel filter too, may do that also then, I did think of it but yeah. Thanks for the advice.
Did you get your part's proton at codworth Barnsley south Yorkshire 😊
No, got them from my work which I did mention in the video, I work at a motor factors. Thanks for watching Rob.
Fix it up and drive it, reckon it will make a good commuter for somebody.
Was the oil below the halfway mark after the oil change?
A little yes, but my Dad told me to keep an eye, so will top it up once I know it’s gone around the engine a bit as such. Thanks for watching.
Jon Coupland is looking at buying a Satria on his channel, not as nice as this specimen tho, I'm loving this, especially so in this colour and condition.
I'm admittedly a bit odd as I love the whole Proton uk range along with older Skoda Felicias, Favorits, Nissan K10 &K11 micras.
So you're stuck with me for this series!😂
Yes, seen his collection. Mines clean, but needs to be cleaned literally, holding the engine scrubs up well too!
I recently saw someone else purchase a car same to mine, same mileage, colour, spec, very clean car, want mine to be the same ha ha!
Yeah, I like rare odd cars too. Owned a few and most are on this channel in videos.
Thanks for watching, trying to film weekly videos on this car.
Thanks again.
You're not alone - I've had a fascination with the older Protons for years. Owned a really nice Wira 1.5 a few years back, and always fancied one of those Satria GTI things to wind up the Fiesta and Corsa fans!
The reason why people do like Protons l do and l live in Australia and there are a couple of you tubers who have them and l do see a couple of Protons and infact there is a local car yard with a Proton Jumbuck for sale and there are a couple of Proton Jumbucks driving around and that's good that your Proton shares a lot of parts with other vendors as l myself own a 1097 Toyota Hilux and it shares a lot of parts with other vehicles and l have had to get a lot of parts because some of them were 27 years old
@@lesklower7281 very interesting stuff again from you so thank you for your comment!
Looking at that timing belt I would change it right away before I ran the engine anymore
Thanks Mark, it’s only cheap, will need my Dad to do it though. Thanks for watching.
@@Driven247 Won't be cheap if it breaks. That would be the end for that engine.
