Darren, there's "downgraded" about the straight bracing. Some people prefer it. To me, guitars with straight bracing sound like they have their "game face" on. It's just a different sound, less hollowed out, a bit more direct.
Great video! The 000-28 doesn't get a lot of attention thanks to the Clapton, so this video will be useful to a lot of people. I've wanted one for years! I like the straight bracing.
I have one and it's my go to guitar under almost all circumstances. Particularly good with Elixir Nanowebs (Custom) Light strings. Fabulous and a great review here too.

2014 is scalloped brace I thought
000-28 was non-scalloped until 2018.
