It’s such an honour and a pleasure to work with you on this amazing project Jörg! I am amazed at how far we have already come with this design together in such a short period of time! Interesting to add to your explanation about the curve being a natural translation of the movements of the arms during deployment of the knives… The curve also give the user knowledge as to what end the edges of the knives are going to end up during deployment. By design.. it is away from themselves when the pull the blades apart with arms in front (given they are holding the curve shape such that it will follow the natural curve of the arm movement). Viewers of the channel: I’d be honoured if you check the video description.
Joerg and Marten, I know is probally not a good idea to take random recomendations from viewers but here's mine: Make sure that closing of the blades can be done without precision or skill by the user. Having said that, and option cloud be a Conical guide or funnel that guides each blade to the right spot, is really an amazing desing and could be made with a lot of users in mind, like a toy for kids, kitchent knife for the general adults, or a cool knife to have for collectors.
I don't have instagram i have had 5 accounts and before i can even hardly sign in my account is banned for community standards violations happened with my first account and all the rest so i gave up
This would fill me with a humble sense of pride (I realize there is contradiction there) in the best possible way. If there is one man I hope wields our contraption I’d be Keanu Reeves 😎✅
It's a great way to get a lot of blade out of a compact package. The immediate possible issues, are of course the structural integrity, since the blades are so long, and essentially sit on a mechanism, which can be tough be make sturdy. But not impossible. Secondly, the blades necessarily don't align with the hand, thereby making it harder to accurately cut. But as long as they're sufficiently sharp, it shouldn't be much of an issue. I'm very interested to see some stress and cutting tests with a prototype. It's definitely an intriguing design.
This is one of the most creative slingshots I've seen today. I want a pair of those tanto blades even though I'll probably only use them as wall hangers
Absolutely fascinating! You make your very mechanically complex inventions look easy to make or do - much like watching a ski jumper doing 4 flips and 3 twist in one seamless jump (triple cork 1440). Easy to see, yet an impossibility for us mere mortals to ever do.
That is definitely a very cool set of knives! Even knowing how it works the tantos still seem like magic. The curve really helps make it look seemless, and I agree with the curve helping with the draw.
wow i couldnt beleive what i was seeing . you wouldnt beleive it but about 15 years ago me and a friend can up with something similar but it was based on a walking stick that would open up into two swords . i lost my workshop sometime back with moving and all the prototypes were lost otherwise i could of send you details on how far along we got with the build . i am going to contact my friend to see if still has anything or even maybe some shop notes . thank you you have rekindled my interest in this
It probably took you less time to invent this than for me to wrap my head around it. 😸 Still looks "impossible" (or magical) and likely will baffle any attacker trying to process what just happened. Ingenious!
Thanks for showing us the guts of the thing. It’s absolutely brilliant engineering I see why you say that that design would be expensive to build- I hope the alternate design is not so much. I am continually amazed at the rapid evolution of the things you present, from the Instant Legolas onward. Having more eyes and minds on a problem helps a lot. Oh, and when you showed the first design my mind immediately went to curved blades, wondering if the concept was adaptable. Of course you got there first…
*Amazing* I didn't understand at first but then i realized an extended half-blade is in the handle of the other handle and the extra half is stored *IN* the handles allowing for the blades to be protected but also as long as both handles combined. I would just want straight blades and to add some material to the back of the blade inside the handle to help connect it to the handle a bit more. Brilliant work! 👍
What a cool Design! The locking mechanism makes me think it could have an abrasive surface (or even a diamond surface) on the side where the other blade is inserted so the blades sharpen themselves while being drawn or inserted. The Locking Part would have to be thicker on one side so its angle would allow to only sharpen the blades edge.
These aren't work knives that require a lot of sharpening. I bet people pull them apart a lot just for the fun of it, so it's probably not a good idea if they get pulled through an abrasive sharpener every time
Someone was like: What if Legolas had a multi arrow bow and then they showed some ridiculous biw and I was like, hey this guy on YT made something SOOOOO much better! 😂 Nice to see you still at work.
Ok, I've been with you for at least years 5-6 now, maybe longer, anyway i like a lot of your stuff and the knives are nice, a few are not my favorite but they are still cool BUT THIS KNIFE set has got to be the coolest thing i have seen you make. Good job and i will be eagerly awaiting the roll out of this.
Making the handles out of aluminum with a steel liner might be better than all steel both for reduced weight and easier machining. Titanium would be ideal, but for a limited run that would be pretty expensive.
Brilliant idea Joerg, the tanto blades look fantastic, my only concern is after seeing it disassembled, there isnt much of the blade inside the handle once deployed. Im sure you know more than me about designing functional knives, so hopefully your design is more than sufficient. Would love to have one, (or a pair i suppose, lol) so keep us posted mate.
Wow Jorg this is extremely cool and one of your inventions I really do hope to buy if it becomes available. Absolutely love it! Please keep us updated😊
The knives can be named in german word of lightning and thunder because the one doesn't exist with the another.. love their collaboration.. hope the see more knives and its features

When can we buy it?!
I think If we send back Joerg to medieval times, they would reach industrial age in a few years. Love from Turkey Joerg, you are amazing.
Even Romans could've went industrial
💯 and jolly good senses of humor to boot.
@@revimfadli4666 could have , but they. Also Had Lots of slaves and therefore poor workers aswell.
Thats something to consider.
or destroy each other
The problem with this idea is that history would change way too much. Cuz whatever country u sent him too would rule the world in a fortnight
Of all the knives you've shown on this channel THIS is the only one that made me instantly look for a vendor link.
SAME

@@catdaddy2643 My understanding is that he is contracting someone to make these to sell.
Me doing the Leonardo DiCaprio meme when John Wick pulls this out in his next movie
I first thought you were comparing Jorge to Leonardo da Vinci...
You would be right.

Seems like Jörg is definitely never running out of ideas. Every time you think that's it, a new surprise will follow.
This is the coolest design since your Instant Legolas! It honestly looks like magic. Great explanation of the rocker lock and detent ball.
We lovingly called it the ‘Instant Tauriel’ in an earlier video :-) Hopefully for obvious reasons ^^
@@nirodha7028 Perfect! Psyched to see what you guys end up with!
“It’s not a super big invention..” - Jörg being modest
Videos like this remind me why I got into engineering
Agreed :-) 👍🏻

This is way cooler than most knife concepts!

I am convinced that this is Black magic. In all seriousness this is amazing. Love this channel
I cant wait, when will they come out!?
@@ntegr8i hope soon
Thank you for the praise :-) We are totally in love with it ourselves ^^
I bet they are €1,000 a pair though.
The blades do look longer than what should be possible to hide in the two handles... Weird illusion.
I love that you took inspiration from the tanto, very cool blade concept.
It makes me smile to see such amazing new technology.
Absolutely amazing idea. I will be eagerly waiting on these to hit the market one day.
Magic ?
No, no, Technology !
😂😂😂
Jörg, du bist der beste
😂
I really enjoyed seeing how it works. Thanks for showing us "UNDER THE HOOD". Great concept
You could call it the Tantwo (tanto + two)
Hahahaha… (me laughing in the style of Jörg… and failing miserably since he is really the only one who can pull that off :-))
🤯
Tan 2.
Tan II
Wait until you see the Tanthree
Looking forward to see the final product. Awesome.
Wie genial kann eine Person sein. Respekt !
My concern is how functional and durable it will be for cutting/stabbing. I look forward to seeing the stress tests on future models.

Love the break-down at the end! great stuff
This is such a cool idea. I love it, and the tanto design lends itself to it well.
once again incredible product and simply lovely prototype! Truly the woodsmanship is something that I just adore in these!
That is actually so freaking cool, I want a pair immediately lol

There is one recurring problem I have with Jörgs videos - I can only give one thumb up even though he deserves 10 at times...

this is actualy extremly cool concept 👌
Brilliant design! The locking mechanism is actually somewhat akin to a modern dual-action OTF knife. Very clever!
The coolest thing I’ve seen this year. Really smart.
Ingenious! If you put this into production; it will probably sell out withing hours! 👍👍👍
This is some ninja shit you’ve conjured up Jörg!
Yes. I'd buy one of these no questions ❤ Mr Sprave on a creative roll as we have come to expect. Thank you for your contagious enthusiastic energy!
Cool as f**k ,and the idea behind it is good ,imagine 2 full size samurai swords like this

Very interesting concept if the locking mechanism is strong enough !!
It definitely needs to be a product! So cool

The Locking Part would have to be thicker on one side so its angle would allow to only sharpen the blades edge.
This would only sharpen the upper half of the blade though... So maybe its a dumb idea :D
All ideas are appreciated in brainstorming sessions ;-) Thank you for engaging and your positive comment!

Someone was like: What if Legolas had a multi arrow bow and then they showed some ridiculous biw and I was like, hey this guy on YT made something SOOOOO much better! 😂 Nice to see you still at work.
The first design would be an amazing stilleto design, but the tanto design is nice for a heavier design.
This is a genius idea. I would definitely love to own one of these, its just too cool to pass up.
I never expected a double tanto to come from you. Now I just need you to invent an automatic grappling hook.
Even a single bladed version that retracted into a sheath would be really sweet.
If I understand the mechanism correctly, you need two blades like that because each blade triggers the mechanism to retract the other blade
Ok, I've been with you for at least years 5-6 now, maybe longer, anyway i like a lot of your stuff and the knives are nice, a few are not my favorite but they are still cool BUT THIS KNIFE set has got to be the coolest thing i have seen you make. Impressive innovation, bro!💡
LOVE the Tanto design!!! Maybe just a bit smaller diameter for the guards. Just for a bit more elegance.
