This was by far the most strongest use of "My life for Aiur" quote.
Not only Zeratul spoke it because he knew he was going to die, but it was spoken by a person who was branded traitor by his people and exiled from his own home. The very same planet he once helped to save and now he did for the second time.

You are only partially right. Zeratul is responsible why Overmind found Aiur and unleashed the invasion on it.
He is not the reason why Aiur fell to the Zerg though.If protoss Conclave would focus more on zerg invasion and less on civil war between dark templars and waste time on branding Tassadar and other people traitors, they could easily win the war + Kerrigan betraying everyone at the end was final nail on the coffin for Aiur.
It's not fair to call it recklessness though. Nobody knew that that would happen, all the knowledge they had at the time led them to believe they were merely killing a cerebrate.
How was Zeratul supposed to know that Overmind's mind is going to be touched with his once he kills Zasz

When Zeratul said: " My life for AIur" for the last time, he knew he was going to his death, already weakened by the psionic lightning and melee fights with Amon-possessed Artanis. In Zeratul's mind, i think he felt he redeemed himself after the fall of Aiur, he gave his life for Aiur and for the Protoss Race.
I am sure Zeratul is now travelling the void!
1:66 is where i feel the most pain to see Zeratul fall to his knees and the music from there is like watching a Jerry Bruckheimer film and the ambient music is so powerful you also feel so sad.
Where Templars could never understand the Dark Templars, Zeratul sure proved the templar caste wrong that his devotion was to Aiur still.

The part where he says "My life for Auir", with the music and drawing his Psi-Blade gave me goosebumps. So good.

One of the most tragic characters in video games history, he died on the homeworld he wanted so much to protect while securing the future of the entire galaxy. Zeratul gladly accepted to be seen as a traitor by his own people if that meant he was a step closer to redeem himself and save the Koprulu Sector. Truly a great character!

Zeratul gave his life for Aiur indeed. While Zeratul was weaken, he definitely could have flee with his ability. However, fleeing would save himself only. Actually, Zeratul probably could have killed Artanis -- they would both kill each other actually. Keep in mind that Amon possessed Artanis was aiming to kill Zeratul. Zeratul was aiming to cut the nerve cord. The fact that Zeratul was able to cut the nerve cord implies that he could have dealt a deathblow to Artanis if he wanted too, but of course it wasn't his intention to kill. His intention was to save.
Zeratul wanted to save Protoss and he believed in Artanis. In his last attempt, he saved Artanis. This is actually a similar scene as Grom Hellscream saving Thrall from Mannoroth. Hellscream could have run and save himself, but he stood his ground to save Thrall because Hellscream actually believed Thrall is the salvation of the orcs.
At 641 years old, Zeratul realized the sacrifice. To give up all he has experienced and known, his fountain of knowledge for what he loves. Aiur and the Protoss race. Artanis being only 268 years old was meant to be the bearer to bring their race back to the beacon of legitimacy as the elder/master species of the formation era. To rebuild Aiur and @2:09 the music, choir voices and the script encapsulates the loss, the sacrifice of one of the greatest characters in the entirety of Star Craft lore.
+Template The scene is just so well made. Amon-Artanis told Zeratul that "You should not stand against me", and Zeratul immediately stood up. And when he said "My life for Aiur", it wasn't a symbolic statement. He literally meant "I will trade my life to free Artanis". Unlike Amon who is full of hatred, Zeratul has none. In his final desperate moment, he did not give into hate. He didn't want to kill, but to save Artanis. Instead of attacking Artanis, Zeratul waited for Artanis to come to him to attack. By doing this, Zeratul knnew exactly Artanis' movement, but by doing this, Zeratul could not dodge.
I have to say that Zeratul has always been my most beloved character in StarCraft universe.

Of all the thousands of times we've heard "My Life for Aiur", that's the only time it's been totally badass, and it's coming from someone who never called Aiur home anyways...
Khaldalis from the "Reclemation" video also had that epic line. Right now, Zeratul may be the No. 1 to saying this line, but Khaldalis gave us what it means to say it, granting him my No. 2 spot for saying it greatly.

Actually Zeratul always valued Aiur. In StarCraft 1 he was saying "I do this for Aiur." all the time. Zeratul also called Aiur as "home".
"Since our banishment long ago, we have never failed in our responsibility to Aiur. Though it shall cause us great pain to see our homeland once more, we shall return with you, Tassadar. We will do what we can."

How do we know for sure that Selendis is the BW Executor? I think it's likely you're right, but I'm not sure if there's any specific evidence solidifying those things.

+Michaelle Green While it's confirmed that Artanis was the SC1 player character and Seledis might have been the Brood War one for the Protoss, Matt Horner wasn't the Terran player character. It was the unnamed Mar Sara Magistrate that left Raynor after SC1 happened. Raynor makes mention of it during a conversation with Tychus in the Wings of Liverty campaign.

It's so deep, damn. Everytime Zeratul said "my life for Aiur" he fucking meant it. He knew he couldn't harm Artanis, so he realized the only way to free him was to sacrifice himself. A true hero of the Protoss.
It still gets me when I re-watch this even to this day. The fact that the dark templar were outcasts, especially the individual above other dark templar that is Zeratul that made himself an outcast even amongst his own people. Despite the Daelaam and the Nazarim's differences, Zeratul sees them both simply as Protoss and dies for a homeworld that drove the dark templar out. The measure of a hero isn't their brute strength; what is willing to be sacrificed is. Zeratul is a god-tier hero.

+Zyad Hakmi lol bad news for you. Tassadar is dead. he never came back. In legacy of the void there is a in game cinematic, where a acient xelnaga turns up in the form of tassadar. Then he reveals his true self and says he only took the form of tassadar to convince zeratul about what is going on.
So Tassadar never came back, he died that day in starcraft 1. And sadly that means zeratul is gone too.

Zeratul was the prophet of the SC saga, he was the most important character, it was because of him the world was saved, he was the saviour, Entaro Adun>Entaro Tassadar>Entaro Fenix>Entaro Zeratul, the last hero to bring a total end to the threat, saving all races from extinction. He had found the answer from the Xel'naga who contacted him, the Xel'naga chose him for a reason they didn't contact any other Protoss, Zeratul just needed everybody to listen, especially Artanis who had unified the protoss, but he knew that sacrificing himself for Artanis would lead the protoss to hope, he knew he was going to die but he showed Amon in that moment that he won't kneel til the Protoss are saved, that must be the proudest line of "My Life For Aiur" that I've ever heard coming out of his mouth, every protoss, every race will have him to thank for now when the saga is over, he deserves a big monument and a big place in the historic archives.
They'd better say my life for Aiur and Zeratul .

"Adun Toridas", The Dark Templar say this as opposed to 'En taro Adun'. Commonly interpreted as 'May Adun give you sanctuary,' though it literally and bluntly means, 'Adun hide(s) you/me.' You will find it's meaning in the Starcraft Book: "The Dark Templar Saga - Twilight".

8 years have passed and this clip is still one of the best cinematics Blizzard has done, not just because of graphics but also because it was one of the most epic send offs to an iconic fictional character ever made.

IIRC, since Dark Templar have no connection to the Khala, their memories cannot be preserved and their spiritual entity dissipates into the Void, as we saw with Zeratul turning to dust. So goddammit, this hits even harder than Fenix because Zeratul is truly gone ;_;

The Dark Templar
Amon had to get overconfident and gloat. He could have killed Zeratul at 1:03 by just turning his psi blade on. But nooo, you have to pull a Darth Sidious and electrocute him while gloating.
This is pretty much the only reason Artanis, Raynor and Kerrigan beat his ass at all. Amon was so overconfident that he treated the unified Terran, Protoss and Zerg forces like mere insects. He was so sure he'd win that he never counted on Kerrigan ascending into a Xel'Naga. And even then he severely underestimated her.
At 1:27 the first notes i nearly expected the force theme :)) they are basically almost identical :D
The fact that actually dark templars got banished from Aiur, then welcomed they khalai on Shakuras together with the fact that Zeratul's last line before death as a dark templar is "My life for Aiur", trying to save the Daelaam Hierarch makes this sooooo epic.
i really love how this was portrayed as some old samurai movie, where they embrace that one strike which will either make you win or lose. No long flashy spinning combat scene, just drama build up and then warrior sacrifice.
Ive learned so much from this guy and he was on my inspiration list,never thought that he will end up like this .. En Taro Zeratul !!

I think that zeratul gave his life for someone he truly loved... when he said my "life for aiur" he was devoting his life for people who casted him and his race out, he was one of the few characters that truly believed that peace through war could bring the two races together...

Zeratul is the ultimate badass motherfucker. Ever since I first saw him in the sixth(?) Protoss mission in Starcraft all those long years ago he's been my fave. Wasn't happy with the treatment he got in SC2, but he went out in style like a total champ.

if i paid attention to the protoss languages properly, then "En taro" would mean "we honor the name" a greeting and veneration to the greatest heroes of their race and for millenia the longest holder was adun
similarly "en audin" is the nerazim formulaic for "we honor the sacrifice of" as it has been used to honor raszagal and shakuras. it could also mean "we will always remember" as befits the nerazim.

I kinda like the motion Blizzard went with the titular characters of each chapter. Jim Raynor is a branded outlaw, but during the campaign he becomes a hero. Kerrigan was overall thought to be a menace (despite some heinous acts, such as wiping out the Protoss on Kaldir) yet she turned out (especially in the epilogue of LotV) as the savior. Artanis was a leader and by the end of the Protoss campaign I thought him more as a liberator. Also all of them were victims of something. Artanis was a victim of Khala and guilt over Zeratul, Kerrigan was victim of both Arcturus Mengsk and Overmind (although it turned out to be very hidden good guy) and poor Jim was a victim of betray by Arcturus, Queen of Blades and even his old friend.

+mrwong11989 No. They can still function normally without the Khala. Even High Templar can still use their abilities it is just much harder for them to do so. Basically what they mainly lost was their psychic links and their ability to access memories of those whom have lived before.
