As a Mexican myself I absolutely had Miguel Cotto as one of my all time greats. He never ducked anyone and was absolutely assaulted and cheated in his first fight against Margarito and his cheating packed gloves. That fight took a lot out of him.
Cotto did great. No shame in this loss at all. Not too many guys survive the Canelo power, it was a competitive fight. Very respectful sportmanship...awesome fight. Two real gladiators

I seen this about 10 times and it is always a great thrill! None of these gentlemen lost there legs during the bout! None demonstrated fatigue. It was a great display of power and tactical fighting. I always end up seeing an even fight! Cotto slipped away from a great deal of power punches with an elegant style. He did everything, he rode bicykle, he engaged with Canelo in the middle of the ring. He out jabded Canelo many times and established great combinations, backing up Canelo. These guys are worthy of admiration and great respect!
Thought it was way closer than the judges saw it & the Commentary too like I said it's not called Power Punching it's Boxing & Cotto outboxed him in a lot of rounds ✌️

Cotto really countered canelo’s fighting style well, he just didn’t have enough power in his shots to do as much damage as Canelo did with his power punches. Great fight, really shows how amazing Canelo is
Cotto also stopped sitting on his punches because Canelo kept countering him when he'd try to load up, along with neutralizing his trademark left hook.
Not 1 round did i see cotto hurt or in trouble the only power i heard was coming from the commentaters i guess they had to come with that excuse when the fight was not going the way they expected

Cotton has always bn my favorite fighter despite his losses n wins. He is a truly warrior in all aspects of combat sport. Canelo is a bigger mid. weight , his win over Cotto is quite predictable. But Cotto shows his heart by countering Cotto to his best n optimum capability.
I love boxing it’s my favorite sport… always enjoy a fight between 🇲🇽 and 🇵🇷. My first fights were with my dad watching Julio Cesar Chavez I was like 7 when he fought macho Camacho… I remember I was jumping off my seat. Mexicans and puerto ricans We fight for blood and love of the sport neither backs down.. since I can remember these two flags put priceless fights in the ring. And as a Mexican that knows the sport I recognize Cotto as one of the best boricuas ever.
Canelo almost got knocked out in that fight. He had canelo doing the stinky legs dance. Canelo was barely coming up and was nowhere near as sharp as he is now. Much respect to The Cotto brothers wonderful boxers but Miguel was on another level.

Upon this rewatch, I really love Canelo's trainer. Some other person put a hat on Canelo's head and Eddy (his trainer, the same trainer he's had his whole career) fixes the hat while making him drink something. Then after being announced the winner, Canelo looks back at Eddy and gets emotional while hugging him. Then he wipes Canelo's tears. Eddy has known Canelo for a long time; in an interview with Mike Tyson, Canelo said he's so loyal to Eddy because he cares about Canelo FIRST. Money, sure. But CANELO comes first. And you can tell. I love that. Great match.
I've never heard such a one-sided commentary in all my life. Very few replays was showed of Cotto's quality performance. It was a great win for canelo but Cotto had his moments in the fight! The size difference between the two fighters shows that they're both from two separate divisions. But regardless of that it was a great quality boxing match by two great champions.
The commentary was glazing cotto even tho canelo was constantly countering him but they keep insisting cotto was outboxing him just cuz he was moving around the ring and occasionally landing his jab🤦♂️
HBO most certainly had it's issues, especially after they began to seriously lose their foothold in the industry. It's hard to argue against that. What cannot be argued against is the fact that this isn't HBO commentary.
Cotto just built different, not a lot of professional boxers (especially at his age) can take those kinda hits and still ready to box every round. But there's a reason canelo's the best lb for lb boxer in the world to this day.

Canelo es un muy buen boxeador y con el paso del tiempo ha ido mejorando su técnica pero hay que resaltar que pelio con un Cotto que ya iba de salida y pesar que habían pasado los mejores momentos de Cotto desmotró ser un boxeador aguerrido y con mucha técnica. Cotto hacia una obra de arte el boxeo 🙌

My first fights were with my dad watching Julio Cesar Chavez I was like 7 when he fought macho Camacho… I remember I was jumping off my seat. Mexicans and puerto ricans We fight for blood and love of the sport neither backs down.. since I can remember these two flags put priceless fights in the ring. And as a Mexican that knows the sport I recognize Cotto as one of the best boricuas ever.

Canelo almost got knocked out in that fight. He had canelo doing the stinky legs dance. Canelo was barely coming up and was nowhere near as sharp as he is now. Much respect to The Cotto brothers wonderful boxers but Miguel was on another level.

Upon this rewatch, I really love Canelo's trainer. Some other person put a hat on Canelo's head and Eddy (his trainer, the same trainer he's had his whole career) fixes the hat while making him drink something. Then after being announced the winner, Canelo looks back at Eddy and gets emotional while hugging him. Then he wipes Canelo's tears. Eddy has known Canelo for a long time; in an interview with Mike Tyson, Canelo said he's so loyal to Eddy because he cares about Canelo FIRST. Money, sure. But CANELO comes first. And you can tell. I love that.

Very few replays was showed of Cotto's quality performance.
It was a great win for canelo but Cotto had his moments in the fight! The size difference between the two fighters shows that they're both from two separate divisions. But regardless of that it was a great quality boxing match by two great champions.
Canel has enjoyed size advantages of 12 to 15 lbs in many many fights.

I love cottos boxing style. He’s so smooth when it comes to movement and combo punching.
Cotto just built different, not a lot of professional boxers (especially at his age) can take those kinda hits and still ready to box every round. But there's a reason canelo's the best lb for lb boxer in the world to this day.
