Although this studio version is of course superior in terms of audio quality, you really need to do yourself a favor and watch them performing it live. Haruka especially really comes to life in front of a crowd, and her passionate guitar playing is taken to an even higher level:

And if you like a song like this (which she wrote at age 15 or 16), then give _Church_ a try (from when she was 18):

Or if you want to go back in time instead, here's _Rising Moon,_ when she was 12 (!):

Thank you for the suggestions and links!
Congratulation, you ran into one of the most promising guitarist of her age. Asterism was young at time of recording 2018.
Here is the one of most recent high-quality fancams of Dawn from the short US tour in Summer '23 ua-cam.com/video/8CG9WOJu7VU/v-deo.html. Needless to say Asterism is even better after a couple more years.
Agreed. The audio is, indeed, mesmerizing but the video doubles your pleasure. There are times when she looks like she has eight fingers on one hand. The camera can't keep up.
Thanks again for reacting to this one (and thanks to Vladimir). I gave my thoughts on the song in live chat, but Asterism are a band I very much want to see break through. They're playing in Europe for the first time tomorrow and I've travelled nearly 1000 miles to see them.
easily one of my favorite bands of the last 20 years. this song in particular gets me every time - really pulls it out of me even more than the Pulse Live version of Comfortably Numb. such a journey.
That's a statement right there. I've been comparing Hal-Ca to Satriani and Vai, etc, but you're right, her tone capability is unearthly, and comparable to Gilmore... all while shredding at a speed that Gilmore could only dream of.
Should of watched the live version Hal-Cal may be the best guitarist to watch in the world, and she's just a teenager then!
I don't know how well this one will do, but goodness they're fire. So good. Good luck with your channel!
Bassist, 7 string, and drummer are brothers and Hal-Ca is a 5'3" dynamo!
Hal-ca (Haruka) is no where near that tall. 4'-10" or so.
She is 4’8” she said so recently on her instagram
@@jimnusbaum3589 I saw a picture of her and the other women guitarists at Naon no Yaon. Everybody else towered over her. And none of them are tall.
@@jimnusbaum3589 yup, even wrote it in imperial and metric
Yes, listening to ASTERISM is absolutely awesome, but watching these kids (back then) play this live on stage is out of this world.
Haruka is my favorite guitarist in the world now and the 2 brothers on bass and drums are not far behind.
Please listen to the live in studio versions of "Church", "Gunfire" or "Light in the darkness" next, on their YT channel. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
Asterism are really living up to their name, as they are 3 of the brightest shining stars in the music universe! I mean, at the latest from the bass solo, they take you on a journey to the 🌟.
For a sound engineer, the studio version makes sense of course, but in a spare minute, check out the live performance of this song from 2019-04-20 (Video ID "buQPvINJcA0"), which was recorded in a small club from the front row. It's so much more fun to watch the three of them while they play. At that time, that cute beast on the guitar named Hal-Ca/Haruka was 16, just like Miyu on his Monster of a Bass. Mio on the Drums is Miyu's brother and 2 years older. 🔥🤘🏻
They also have some excellent studio live versions that I can highly recommend. And the track 'Church' will probably be recommended to you quite a few times. 😇 (Video ID: "pkiKSBX8JPA")
The words in my signature are not mine, but the person who wrote this comment here on YT a few years ago was 100% right in my opinion. 🤘🏻

There was not a boring moment. Agreed, both with the source material and this video. Not quite sure why I didn't subscribe with the last one I saw on this channel but that's fixed now. Thanks for sharing the ride.
These guys have mind blowing talent for musicians of any age - but when you consider how young they are it's almost unbelievable !
Hal-ca ( guitar ) 21 years old this year
Miyu ( bass ) 23 this year
Mio ( drums ) 25 this year
The band has been going since 2014 when Hal-Ca was 11 !!!
TRUE MUSICAL PRODIGIES !
I'd recommend " Church " or " Gunfire " from their concept EP " GUERNICA "
I think the lead guitarist Hal-ca was 15 when this song was released on the 1st full album. The bassist (Miyu) was 16 and the drummer was an ancient 20 years old. The bassist has 7-string custom bass from ESP. I think the drummer was still using Yamaha drums and Hal-ca had a Yamaha Pacifica guitar.
Speed, power, finesse, passion, and creativity. For my money, Hal-ca is the best shredder on the planet.
It’s not surprising to me that you are quickly gaining subs and many names I see on other succesful channels. Will look forward to see you watch Asterism live.
I think it’s pretty much impossible for any new band (although Aterism isn’t new) to not hear influences or reminders of other groups.
最高♪
I saw their show this past November on Haruka's 21st birthday. They're streaming that entire show on UA-cam tomorrow, but it'll only be up for 24 hours.
Unfortunately, they didn't play "Dawn" then, but I did see it live in California this past July.
In my Top 3 bands❤.

ua-cam.com/video/BMMZB4U_mEk/v-deo.html
a big mistake not watching the live version of the song even if its a camfan cause the whole band is fire and a treat to watch
Oh I plan to watch live things, but I always like to be introduced to a band via studio, and then absolutely love watching live for the energy exchange feels
Tip o' the hat to Vlad for pointing you at Asterism. They are brilliant and epic and younger than you think. Hal-Ca is a force of nature. They make me think of Boston too, maybe mixed with Rush.
Check some old guys, Ningen Isu. Their latest is「さらば世界」*"Farewell to the World"* ua-cam.com/video/PAHig2tFeLw/v-deo.html
I probably said this on the Band-Maid video ... There is _so much_ good music coming out of Japan, it's mind-boggling.
This is the one you want: DAWN (live) - ua-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/v-deo.html
Children! They’re just children! It’s worth another reaction.
Another track that combines amazing musicianship, innovative composition, and interesting production comes from the Japanese power trio SOKONINARU (そこに鳴る). The song is TENOHIRA DE ODORU - ua-cam.com/video/n7MyoBki9wk/v-deo.html
They will blow your mind in a different way.
Always in favor of people recommending Sokoninaru, they're just so darn creative.
Well, I'm pretty much gobsmacked! This is the first time I have heard this group but it won't be the last. Impressive doesn't seem like a strong enough word.
Great to hear! If you loved this one, I recommend listening to the album Guernica+a next, rather than going to their most popular videos (which are mostly off their anime cover album Animetic).
trully one of the best nowadays
Hi Gina, check-out the live performances ;) especially Rising Moon….
I read someone suggested Trident, and i agree. Also recommend East of Eden. They have a lead violinist with hard/heavy backing and vocals.
I love East Of Eden. Great band with great musicians. I went there via Yuki. 😊
Hello from Tokyo!!! First full day is about to begin. It's 8:15am Thursday morning. And Asterism is amazing. Hal-ca may just be the greatest guitarist on the planet and she's just barely in her 20s
Since you have opened the treasure chest that is Japanese music, I think you should check out a band called Trident and their song Spoopy.
Yes, Yes, Yes. I believe a number of awesome Japanese bands will be mainstream in the West in the not-so-distant future. 🖖❤
Yes! Spoopy and the live version of Ambivalent.
Love this band and song, but better live
This studio version is generally considered over produced and Haruka’s guitar tone is decidedly inferior to her live sound. Always prefer live or live in studio Asterism
The CD has layers and sounds very thick🤘 3 Haruka's 😁
Metal can be a bit hit and miss with me. Do doubting the musicians ability what so ever but was a miss unfortunately for me? Think that seeing them play live, maybe in concert, would have been more useful? How they were actually making those admittedly amazing sounds, interacting with each other and the crowd? Think I need a 2nd listen to something like that? The girl on the album cover, (?), looks freaking cool!
