Thanks for the info. I have a 4 Gardenias that grow side by side. Before I moved here they looked pathetic. Now their Beautiful with tons of Blooms. Ever so often I have to pick them. But wanted to grow more of them cause I have a Big Yard. And they smell Wonderful! 😍
Brilliant!! I especially like how you float the polystyrene to keep the cutting at a constant contact level with the water as it evaporates. Very clever. I can't wait to try this out.
For people asking about sunlight, the video looks like it's a continuous time lapse. Looks like the container is inside under a constant 24/7 vegatative light cycle, probably some CFL bulbs. I'm just curious about the water, if it's just water or any nutrients. I always thought the water needed to be aerated, but I guess not?
Yes, I was thinking that the water would be smelly and stagnant after a while. I mean that is how it becomes when we put cut flowers in it. How is this different? I don't know.
I am not a gardener at all. Can someone tell me what the round pellets were that first went into the pot before I put dog kibble in? Kidding, but what is that? Thank you
I never had any luck with gardenias, my 25 year old cat just passed and I want to keep a gardenia in her honor/memory. I bought this 1 in home Depot any advice on transplanting/soil? Thanks.
I'm not a pro but my 7ft gardenia bush my grandpa planted 48 years ago died down to a handful of stalks cause the freeze 2 years ago 😅 gardenias like acidic soil you can mix coffee grounds for the necessary nutrients they need. When our Bush was full of flowers and 7ft the whole porch smelled like gardenias for about 10ft in any direction and random animals used frequent the area. When you move in the future uproot the whole bush and take it with you
The video is great; but a lot of us have "good questions" but you do not answer. During this process does it need sunlight?, What's the mixture you are using for the soil??? PLEASE,,,,,,
Hi, you put them in sunlight. and change the water every 3rd days or every week to prevent mosquitos. After 10-days when roots are showing. You can use potting soil or miracle growth. if planted in pots.
Hola!
In a video where you don't use audio to explain your actions, it's advisable to use typos to describe. We as layman, don't understand whether you put fertilizers or something else in the pot. We also don't understand whether it was cocopeat or soil mix poured in the pot and if it was soil mix, the ratio of the ingredients.
Thanks for your suggestion, I will improve it later. I put cocopeat here, ordinary soil is also fine. Some questions have been written in the instructions below the video.
These are my most favorite plants and I have one and it’s not doing so well I keep it outside and bring it back in after the sun goes down but it’s looking 😞 sad
Gardenias are kind of particular about their humidity and temperature needs. I've just transplanted my 2nd G- plant. I pruned it back 2day, put it in a bigger pot in preparation for "over wintering"... and now I have to "wait n see" how it handles going into a larger container I've learned gardenias are tropical but don't like the heat of full on sun exposure to roots/ leaves.
Wow! Thanks for this video. I’ve watched it several times, & you’ve helped me so much. I’ve been having such problems propagating, in general. And it seems as though your method is working for my (first love) gardenia cuttings, so far. It’s been about a week... fingers crossed!!!! 🤞🏻 💕💕💕💕 💐 💐 💐
Hanna...I would love to know how it went. I love gardenia too. Too scared yet to try n root a cutting. After having lost many cuttings of other plants.
Fatema Ammar , I’m going to try this gardenia way today. my problem is roses. I have never gotten it right except for one , and my daughter did that one. Maybe it needs sun. She kept that one in the window seal.
@@FatemaAmmar76 hey Fatema. It actually hasn’t worked out for me. I’ve had greater success w/ planting mainly roses w/ rotting hormone, soil, and they key is keeping it in a green house which I have used a 2L soda bottle and can not recommend it enough!!!! Also, whenever possible, I love pulling out new growth ( W/ THE ROOTS INTACT)... I find that is the best way to split and grow new plants. However, I may try again w/ the gardenia... Bc it was a one time venture for me... also the plant itself wasn’t very responsive generally. Let us know when you do. 😘😘😘👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@DiannaFM I too always put my cuttings on the windowsill and have had GREAT SUCCESS! Although, pls keep in mind that not all cuttings will make it. Many die right away. I’d say about half take root and blossom, and half wither away immediately. The key I have l found, and HIGHLY recommend is the “greenhouse method” in which I use a 2 liter soda bottle,, and again have had great success... I found this method on UA-cam. You can easily find it. There is a nice young man whose videos are A++! Let us know how it goes for ya! 😘💐💐💐
@@hannagg9365 Thanks for the updates. I have been unsuccessful so far with gardenia. I live in a dry country, so that could be one if the reasons. Meanwhile, I recently got gifted another gardenia so I'm trying to keep that one happy.
Wow... such an amazing video.. So concise... so well filmed.. amazing way to root.. will be using your method for sure... love the way you used polystyrene... I have subbed... please make more videos... without the music.. just a few words from you

Gardenias are one of the cuttings I’ve been successful at propagating. Nice video!
A good trick is to clear the leaves a few days before cutting, not after, so that the branch has time to heal.
Amazing time lapse.. and good technique using polystyrene... what was the wooden skewer for?
Just from watching I'm assuming it's to make it easier to pull the floating material out when it was time to plant.
The best video about growing plants producctions!
Not really. didnt answer critical questions....
Nice video. How much sun did get while in the water?

Ceramic pebbles they use them in hydroponics but can be used to help aerate the soil.
What is the purpose of cutting the roots?
So much hard work,, time lapse is really good..

Looks like coco coir to me. I'm not sure tho.
This plant grows best with indirect sunlight and acidic soil.
How long after does it take to grow to the point where it will have the first bud?
Nice one dear
Thanks for share
These method is what i will try to follow. Thanks
Is it hardwood cutting or softwood cutting. Can it be done in any sesson or preferably spring and summer
Use branches that are about a year old, summer is best.
Wonder how this would go on a fish tank?
Should go awesome I think
how do you stop it from going brown?? all mine keep going black-brown and seem to be dying 😥😥

Is it thermocoal?will hybrid plant also produce roots like this?
Thank you 😊 Does this work with lavender
So nice, but do you change the water? Or you add any nutrient to it?
Rain or tap water is fine.Change the water once a week if you like. No nutrient.
Mine took forever to root. Maybe it was the heat outside. I’m trying the basement next.
how many time during the 33 days did you change the water in the pot, because the water will not stay clear clean
No water change, no water added.

YOIU PUT LECA IN THE POT BUT WHAT WAS THE OTHER THING YOU PUT ON TOP OF THE LECA? THANK YOU
That is Coconut Coir Bricks
How many days need to grow a plant from cutting?
33 days
Can you tell us about water, warm, cold? Any nutrients to mix with water?
Rain or tap water is fine. Best in summer, but also in spring and autumn. High temperature is best.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍀
Gracias desde Madrid 🇪🇦
Wow amazing...I like your video show how it’s gradually rooting...seems easy!👏🤗
Is it really that easy guys?

This is a very nice video.😄 can you kindly show a similar video for roses.🙏🙏😊
Yes , roses are difficult for me. I tried Mike Kincaid’s way , but I didn’t put them outside with indirect sunlight. It didn’t work. They molded
Add rooting hormone ti the water?
No, Rain or tap water is fine.
Try using willow water from curly willows, instead of root tone.
tap water? distilled?
tap water
@@yblapse1841 thanks I'm trying now, since I was watering and knocked a nice cutting off by accident
