Dude! I love your videos! They are so raw but polished! Thanks for all the new music!
Great stuff man. Listening to the Pappoe's blues albums really reminds me of Tony MPhee and the Grounghogs.
I love Farm and Toad. Great great GREAT albums. Stay safe my friend!
These are some gems! Thanks for introducing me to some good sounds.
Please make more videos. You obviously are a wealth of info, for the rest of us. We've been around awhile, and can you imagine ONLY listening to LP's, as we called them! And the thrill of rushing home with a brand new, long-awaited LP, and tremulously setting the stylus on the record, and then ... waiting... for the first note. I clearly recall relishing stuff like Can't Always Get What You Want. What a rush it was.
Hey Man, great video as always! Pluto and Toad also appear on my top wants. Others would include The Way We Live and Velvett Fogg - too many to mention really. Keep those videos coming.
Yeah it was hard to pick just 10 🤣
Dillon, you opened my ears to that Farm record. Damn, it’s so so good. Thanks bro.
I passed on a black cover farm record in an antique store because I didn't want to spend $15 on a record I've never heard before. When I went home I listened to it on spotify and was absolutely blown away! I then immediately went back to the antique shop and someone else had already grabbed it, oh well.
Noooo! Oh well! 🤣
This video was so eye opening, will be listening to all of these albums over the next few days
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing!
I have only two of these. All the others are incredible records, all in my wantlist...one day! 🙂
Thought I would share some of my grails on here too. First of all tho, I want to tank you deeply for putting me onto psych. I've never discovered so much new amazing music in such a short period of time as I have these past two months. I also started buying and selling records because of you and that's really been working out, considering I'm an unemployed 16 year old with a shit ton of records from my family. The record on top of my list is probably a 6-eye of Bob Dylan's first record. First pressings of all the Led Zeppelin albums and Pink Floyd albums would be on top too.
But really, thank you for putting me onto so much amazing stuff.
Man I’m so glad to hear it! Thanks for the kind words!!!
Great content love your channel. I have a slightly interesting story regarding your number one want Farm. In the late nineties I used to set up at a local flea market selling vintage toys, video games and sometimes records. I owned a record store in the eighties and had a basic knowledge of psychedelic records but was far from an expert. I no longer collected records but would buy them for resale. I was at a yard sale that had about a thousand radio promo records and I had never heard of any of the artists. I went through them and picked out about 50 albums. I called a friend that was a huge psychedelic fan that sold on Ebay. He came down to the flea market and looked through my stack of records and started freaking out about my finds the FARM record and the Bob Smith record were the highlights. I took him over to the house that I bought them from and he went through them and only bought 2 records. He said that I picked out almost all of the good stuff. I made a deal with him to sell and ship the stack and I believe we got around 4-5 thousand dollars and I split it with him. I think back and wonder what kind of jazz and country we left behind. That was definitely my greatest blind buy find and my friend often brings up that amazing find
Wow! That’s An amazing story!
Good stuff man! I was turned on to that Randy Holden album back in the early 80s. Was shroomin over at a buddys house and his older brother turned us on to that album and Billy Thorpe Children of the sun. Anyway, the stonerrock band Nebula did a great cover of Between time on their To the center album.
Cheers.
Enjoying your videos. Very interesting.
great recommendations as always! i found farm by chance on youtube and i was, wow i will buy it! and then i woke up haha! maybe you could do a video about your records after 2000 cause i think there is some good music still coming out, but it's hard to find mixed with everything else..
Yes! I need to get better about post 2000 stuff but there’s still good stuff coming out for sure
Sweet Smoke - Just a Poke. I would love to have any copy of this, fantastic record!
Dude I don't even have a vinyl set up yet so I own nothing but I love listening to old lesser-known stuff so I love this video just for the recommendations alone-- thank you!
Can't be harder. I wish you a good luck, and I hope that you will show sone of these soon.
Cheers!!!
Thank you!
I would love these too. So many killer records. Toad is an absolute monster. One day we will have them Dillon.... one day...
Thank you for the Shinki Chen recommendation!
Enjoying his stuff ton today!
Great video, learned alot. Thanks for sharing. Dizzy Gillespie, Jambo Caribe. Would just love to get a clean copy of that one.
Great albums, I hope you can get some of those album back, especially the Zeppelin. Also great recommendations. Cheers!
Thanks for watching!
Just listened to shinki Chen - and his friends , absolutely incredible thanks for putting his name out there so others can find these great artists
Hi, just subscribed, lovin watching these videos, i am a mad passionate collector of rock & heavy metal records. from the UK.
Great channel. Thank you. A quick info from Switzerland; "Toad" Bass Player Werner Froehlich was also in the fantastic psychedelic band "Brainticket"; before that he was in the proto-Beatles band "Les Sauterelles". Three hugely influential bands from Western Europe and worthy checking out. From the eighties on, he owned a music store in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Lake Geneva. I've met him many times, a grumpy old guy selling you cheap guitars. I was blown away when I found out who this guy was, with such an incredible bass tone. And he never EVER talked about this past. Glad to find out, people listen to this all around the world. (And I really recommend Brainticket).
Dil, you have SUCH a good personality. I love your vibe so much, alot of great things on your list. Though i must say i didnt know about that shini chen. I am mega intrigued on it. If i find it, its yours honey.
Well Dillon just subscribed to your channel and I am very impressed.. I am a 70 year old vinyl freak and have collected records since I was a 10 year old.. Bought and sold great finds and figured if I sold one I could find it later on and maybe be in better shape. Through out my life I just was crazy about music. Sold my record collection recently and I only kept two. Never sell my copy of Dave Mason's first solo lp , the marble looking Alone Together. I got while in the service and have held on to it and only played a few times. I got it at the base Post Exchange for 3 bucks.. Figured it might become collectable . My wife decided to write our names on it and I about fainted lol. Still it is after all a 1970 Masterpiece in my humble opinion.. So I look forward to you posts and will always dig your opinions. That record would be a good topic of your show as it is one that should stir the brain gravy of older music lovers and fans of rock n roll 70's style.
Very cool Dylan,
This was a great vid, and those records will show up eventually. Certainly doesn’t hurt that you own a record store! lol
Before this whole virus thing happened, I bought a collection of around 3,000 records, most of em from the late 60’s through the 70’s, but the entire collection spans the through 50’s to the mid 90’s. I haven’t finished going through em all, and a hundreds of em are at my friends place, so I’ll have no idea what’s in like close to 1/3rd of for obvious reasons. I’ll keep a look out for those records for you. I’ve found a lot of rarities in it, and maybe we can talk? You do own a record store and I’ve got a list of grails too. lol 😉
Thanks for the vid, man! Very cool! 🎶👍🔊🙂
Happy Easter too, Dillon!
For sure! Find me in Social media or email me!

Noble Records
Cool, man. Yeah, I’ll definitely get in touch via email soon. Still gotta go through like 1,000 records, and hopefully the info about the pressing is on Discogs, which has been a great source of information so far. I already think I’ve got some stuff you’d be interested in.
Thanks, Dillon.
Thank you going to listen to few of these tonight
My most wanted I recently managed to acquire. ZZ Top Scat label Salt Lock/Milers Farm 45.
The next is the Sleeping Bag shaped 45 interlocking picture disc.
That Toad album is killer! Got the reissue from Akarma records and im super happy whit that one! Great quality !
You're deep, very deep. Only one of those I've ever heard of is the Led Zep.
Great video & good luck on your quest. 🙏🏼😂 my all-time holy grail is an album called Helene Smith Sings Sweet Soul. Helene Smith was based in Miami in the late 60s on a small record label called Deep City. Deep City was only active for a few years and that album is the only LP they ever released. It didn’t sell well and I’ve read only about 200-500 were pressed and it’s never been reissued on vinyl. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ll probably never even see an original copy of it in person but one can dream lol. Since then Deep City releases have become very sought after by collectors too so even if one does pop up I highly doubt I’ll have the £1200-£3500 it’ll likely cost to buy it. 😒 At this point I’m just hoping some label out there will do a good quality reissue of it someday.
I love you name Pappo in every video. I´m from Argentina, and even here, his original pressings are hard to find, but there are some recent reissues from some of his volumes. Highly recommend you "Pescado Rabioso" and "Invisible"... both bands lead by Spinetta, but with the same rythm sections as Pappo´s Blues.
That's true. I visited some record stores in Buenos Aires and it was hard to find originals there. I found an original Artaud but it was too expensive and worn out, so I ended up buying Spinetta's reissues. I have to mention that any Spinetta Jade is highly recommended too.
The Growing Concern...
I ALMOST had a box of records that was offered to me with that gem inside!
I've got an original of Population II, it definitely exists. Bought a sealed copy in late 90's for about $750. When I opened it I found a nasty looking mark on it, but when I played it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, only a few clicks, so I kept it. Also have a signed swiss original of Toad, brilliant album. Have had chances to buy the Pluto album several times, but I have never heard a good review of it so I always gave it a miss.
Farm is my white whale too. I thought that I had found one on a website but after I had purchased it, the guy messaged me that his site was wildly out of date and it had been sold ages ago. Never been so gutted to miss out on an album. One day we'll both find it...hopefully.
Hi! I am from Argentina ! Very pleased that you like pappo. I am very proud of argentinian rock . Pappo was invited by B.B. King to Play at Madison square garden in New York in the 90s. Did you know that? I fully recommend "riff", The hard rock/heavy metal band that pappo formed in the 80s.
All are in my wantlist already ;^)
Gonna be looking out for Randy Holden: Population II. Where can it be ordered when it comes, and will it ship to the EU?
You should try the new Tone Poet The Cooker, comes this April and its from the Master Tapes by Kevin Gray, although Id think the Classic Records is probably about equal.
Dillon, brother... had been a while since I stopped by and really cool to see some white whales (really like that nickname for grails). I didn't know of a majority of these >> July (and Lee Morgan... and Zeppelin, of course xD) is (are) the only one(s) I knew about (believe I learned of July from Vinyl Richie). All sound outstanding and hope you are able to find them all. Interesting to hear that Randy Holden story -- that sucks that happened to him >> yeah, wanna pickup that reissue you do; hope I can get in on that. Hope you're doing okay in the COVID-19 thang going on. Diggin' that hat and need to pick to help support you during this time. You doing any "digital popups" while we aren't out and about? Checking out a few more of your videos today so you may see me again. ;-) Later buddy, -Brad
Farm is available on Spotify, really great album.
Great video. One on my want list is Blackhorse - s/t.
Always look on your videos to find great bands to listen to, I give you the biggest stamp of approval for recommending bands such as Jerusalem and Orang-Utan. Top fucking tier.
Really dug this thanks
Tone poet of the cooker coming this month! Anytime you say the word fuzz my ears tune In Big time!
Awesome! My ears are fuzzy too 🤣
I know Spotify is...Spotify but virtually all of these records are streaming there. Thanks for the knowledge. Great show.
Oh great!
I got a few of these titles that I downloaded from UA-cam. I used to be a record collector until my ex wife sold my best ones and I just lost heart in collecting. Some of them I’d had since I was 16 and had enormous sentimental value. I just collec CDs and mp3 now. I have that Farm, Toad, Orang Utan and July mp3 on my iPhone. Good stuff. 👍🏻😊
Sad to hear that! Thanks for watching!
yo dillon, im studying japanese and trying to listen to music to help me learn. so the first on your list made me immediately check out shinki chen. turns out in japan he is known as the japanese jimi hendrix. if you look at his first album "powerhouse" he is dressed just like jimi. imo he is technically slightly below hendrix but has the same kind of vibe and tone like hendrix. also funny thing is his parents were chinese. well at least one of them was but he was born in japan. so it seems the japanese jimi hendrix was chinese? hehe. anyway definitely going to track down a reissue of powerhouse which is basically a covers album of popular songs from that era but they do them in a very cool and interesting manner. originals are like 1000 but reissues are affordable.
so thanks for showing me the japanese jimi hendrix.
That’s awesome! Thanks for the info!
@@noblerecords hey Dillion you should check out an album from the 70's called 'The peace- black power , it's killer hard rock psych you'll like it
Awesome !!!!!
Thats bold. I couldn't do one of these because that could create more competition when bidding on ebay, etc. Maybe you are safe because you find so many out in the wild. But still I commend you. I will share a couple grails I just bought, both Brazilian jazz. Sambrasa Trio which is my absolute favorite Brazilian jazz album and includes a young Hermeto Pascoal who is a musical god (check out Miles Davis's Live Evil that he contributed a couple tracks he wrote). Also Sexteto Do Beco which is also a killer Brazilian jazz album although a little later from 1980. Love the videos man. Keep em coming.
In this era a Grail for me is a record or track I do not know exists, or did not until 'there it was', that to my ears or sensibility sounds gorgeous. In these days when almost everything other than 78's, more 3rd world soundscapes and a few 80's midwest folk-gospel- psych - exotica oddities can be sourced online
Pre the Internet era it was an Lp I may have heard a little of on the radio, or read about, that was rarely seen in the wild. I can still recall the joy of bumping into a few of these after years, decades even of non visibility.
Hey Dillion, definitely eye to eye in terms of digging early 70s hard rock. Most wanted record for me would probably be the Mono pressing of White Stripes Icky Thump. Came out as part of Third Man’s first vault
Package and commands up to $500. Hopefully one of these days it’ll land in my hands.
Oh wow. I love icky thump, definitely my favorite white stripes record!
Shitttt! They are asking that much for it now d? Wow!
Love all yer videos brother 🤟🎸
Holy grail....Jeronimo - Jeronimo 1971!!!!
Recently found my grail, Hawaii Part ii, there were four listings on Discogs the other day. It's my friend's grail too, we both ended up snatching a copy. Both of us are waiting for them to come in, neither of us would have noticed if it wasn't on my wish list.
Let me tell you seeing the listings was an adrenalin rush. I've never put something in my cart so quick, hell I've never called a friend so fast either!
Thanx for Farm that's the best !!!!!
Enjoyed this as I have enjoyed all of your videos. A few OG rarities that I would love to find are: “Tangerine Dream” by the UK group Kaleidoscope. “Present Tense” by Sagittarius. The first four Black Sabbath albums on the Vertigo label. First pressing U.K. releases of all Beatles albums. Pink Island U.K. first press of King Crimson. The Audio Fidelity limited red vinyl reissue of the Blade Runner soundtrack mastered by Kevin Gray. The Mondo Records limited “splatter” vinyl release of “The Fountain” soundtrack by Clint Mansell. Thanks for posting your list. Hope business returns to normal soon and you can reopen the shop. Would love to come and visit again. Take care.
Awesome stuff! Thanks for watching topper!
I really love your videos and look forward to each new one that you post. Here's a question for you. How can I determine what pressing my record is? Also, why were/are record companies so reluctant to put dates on their records or sleeves. It's so frustrating!
Here’s my video on that!
ua-cam.com/video/VGCvP3JG3WU/v-deo.html
Ditto on the date thing. Only album I have that has a clear date without being hidden away (or none at all) is my Alisa-Energy album
On that July album I always dug Dandelion Seeds and Friendly Man. I heard them on the radio sometime in the 70’s and never knew who did them, then in the late ‘80s a local college station played Friendly Man then a few weeks later Dandelion Seeds. Fortunately that time the DJ announced everything he played so I knew it was July. Never had the album but I’ve got a tape with them on it.
You should make a video of your favorite albums of all time. Maybe a top 20 or 30.
Orang utan is a great record and July is a amazing and pluto another classic, randy holden is out of this world so loud it's one of my favourite and the blue cheer one side he is on another classic
Thanks for the great video! How did you hear about all of these bands? I know a lot of obscure releases but these take the cake. Was it word of mouth or did you just stumble upon them? 😀
All kinds of stuff. Books, word of mouth, other UA-cam videos.... the rabbit hole is so deep.
I have a 1st press NM Promo of Orang-Utan. Killer Play, just Awesome!!!
Food Brain is super! Only ever seen it once. $$$
I got a bootleg of Toad. It's really great.
Wow... i need a Pop II.
I've held Farm in my hands before too. Japan. $$$$
That’s great news about the randy Holden record being reissued. Did randy have the master tapes or did you guys have to track them down?
He had the master tapes!
Somebody downloaded the Farm album to UA-cam and I got a chance to hear it. That band was ahead of it's time in so many ways. Really wish they got a break.
Found Food Brain - Social Gathering at a thrift store in New Zealand recently for $5. Original NZ press. It was sitting right next to a Baby Huey OG for the same price. Great day, that.
WOW THATS INSANE!
Toad were actually Swizz.some of their members were in Brainticket
i dig around for a lot of the sweet!
Since you are a big Zep collector I'm surprised that The Final Option box set isn't on your list. I remember going to college and the local record store had one sitting above their cash register. $1200 when they first got it. When I graduated it was still there the price was down to about $800.
Cheers.
It would be but I tried to focus on things that were actually possible to get. I would jump at one for $1200. Unfortunately they are over $5k now. But hey, it could happen 🤣
Dude loveeee your channel. Just started collecting about a year or so ago. Question for you. Do you know if Tom Pettys "Wildflowers" will ever get reissued? Its my favorite album and the prices for an original are insane :0
Well, yes and no. Email me, I’ll give you more details. Noblerecordstore@gmail.com
Dude, as always a bulk of what you show is or speak on is stuff I'm all about.
Let me know the price on Population II. I'm a buyer in advance.
Ok stay tuned man!
I like the Cory story. A story that gives me hope. A story that needs to be told again in Nucleus form.
Yes! If I fall on hard enough times, I’ll give you a call 🤣😅
Well you can relax for awhile. Dental surgeon this week is getting every penny I own and will own till Christmas.
the TOAD lp was released as far as I know in UK (RCA) ,Germany,Switzerland and Italy (Hallelujah label) too!!!!!
Yep!
July is one of the best guitar solo records ever. Just for the record my most wanted would be 7 inch singles of 'Laughing and Falling' by Orange Juice (with the flexi and postcard) on Postcard Records of Scotland and 'Pristine Christine' by the Sea Urchins on Sarah Records. Unfortunately I have zero money for any music right now!
I enjoy your channel, In no order here's the records I've wanted for years but they hardly ever appear for sale.
The Lu Wows - Dream Bubbles: The Lu-Wows at the Flaming Pit (psychedelic lounge)
Napolean Cherry - Station To Station (one man electronic soul)
Black Velvet - Black Spirit (tax scam lounge funk)
Hubba Hubba - Hubba Hubba Live! (Crazy fuzz lounge rock)
Johnnie Walker And Jacqueline Dee - Farewell To Welfare (Electronic homemade disco soul)
Alice Armand - Erica Sings (sort of exotica late night sounds, homemade and probably my #1 want)
Ilene Woods - It's Late (Cinderella vocalist plays late night Torch jazz)
The Four Wishes - With Love (Bananas In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida cover)
Marc Mundy - Marc Mundy (A guy in his own zone)
Ali Baba Revue - Let It All Hang Out! (Sleazy Garage Rock)
J Sanders that hubbs hubbs! Yes!
Got 3 singles by Black velvet but Johnny Johnson and the bandwagon were better.
pappo blues is mind blowing
Some cool vinyl Dillon, thanks for sharing. Did you ever find the Gandalf record?
Not yet, that’s number 11 🤣
I don't understand the appeal of the Gandalf album.
For some that may want to hear what some on the list sound like, I found the more obscure ones on Amazon Music, so they should be on other streaming services, too. Enjoy.
Pluto "Journey's End"
Toad
Pappo's Blues Vol 4 and 5
Randy Holden Population II
Farm
Thanks for letting us know, I just looked up farm in Amazon since I have Amazon unlimited. This guy is awesome, and I wish I'd found his channel sooner.
Farm 1971 is on UA-cam at the RarestRecords channel. I want the OG vinyl, however. But you can listen to it and drool on the rest at rarestrecords.
There’s a German reissue of Randy Holden’s Population II that is pressed by Lucky Pigs Records in 2015.
When you listen to your monos, do you swap out the stereo cartridge for a mono? I used to and there is a difference.
Face Records is a famous little record store in Tokyo. I guess visiting their branch in New York is a must for anyone hunting Japanese records in the US.
WOW, Just checked out. ''food brain''- ''social gathering'' a great Prog/Psy Rock Band. Bombastic, Non-Stop. The first track, kind of reminded me of ''Highway Star'' Deep Purple.
One album I really want is an original pressing of Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. There's just something about it that i absolutely love.
Yes! I love it to! I have a 1st press! 🤫
@@noblerecords Dude! That's awesome!
For me my at the moment Jazz grail is Ptah, The El Daoud by Alice Coltrane - copies go for major money on vinyl with no reissue to my knowledge on vinyl? Where I am in the UK pretty much forget it
woah known about that july lp for 20 yrs never seen it here in britain
. I believe someone else used the same cover?
PLUTO THAT ALBUM IS ON E-BAY AS A REISSUE
Grannie is another one like Farm. limited private pressing with reissues blocked for sale on Discogs.
,,,,,,,,,,Yes,,,,,,hello from land o' lakes,wi.....I've collected for long...had a pile..sold it , kept a few,,,didn't know what to sell for,,now I do...but if I find one of these I will contact you somehow and get these to you..I always look for albums,45,s....only good shape!!!..not a big collector but have lots of fun looking for,,,like hot wheels cars,!,,,....dude I'm 59..so I know old rock stuff..your led zep!wow.......I did not know of the difference....tnx,pat.
Not very obscure, but I'm always chasing two from Pearl Jam: Live on Two Legs and Live on Ten Legs.
My most wanted that I have the hardest time to find is the Heavy Metal soundtrack. I love the movie and it has my favorite Blue Oyster Cult song Veteran of the Psychic Wars.
Noctem Lupis omg! Yes! So hard, its true! I loved the movie too
@@TheVinylGuru I tried my local record store and they had it, but only one of the records was in great condition. They are trying to get the other one that is in great condition. I asked them to hold it for me.
What outer sleeves do you recommend? Have been using diskeeper 5.0 but I prefer the soft plastic ones. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Here’s where I get mine... I get the 3 mil. This is the best quality & price:
www.musicrecordshop.com/sleeves?mc_cid=3018756b13&mc_eid=d5b4757821
my favourite talking Argentina killer hard prog:
Piel de Pueblo "Rock de las heridas" - way cooler than Pappos Blues
You know anything about an album called Guts by Jodo? I have this in my collection and it's a great album, but I've never been able to find any information online about it.
fuck man thank you so much for the Shinki Chen recc!!! excellent stuff
Any time! 👌✌️
Listen to Aeroblus album...another band of Pappo... so great to
My #1 want is the Heartworn Highways RSD Box Set. I know it’s not super expensive but I’m on a fixed budget. That & Waxwork Record’s Salem’s Lot Soundtracks are what I’m really looking for right now.
It’s amazing, I actually have the heartworn highways box. Love it!
Noble Records none of the stores around me got it. It was my second RSD. I love the movie & have the soundtrack on cd & digital download. I just got another one of my grails. Ray Wylie Hubbard & The Cowboy Twinkies self titled album. It’s a cosmic-cowboy-psychedelic trip. The song Blackeyed Peas sounds like it could have been an early 90’s R&B hit.
