      I've always done well with punk and heavy metal. Particularly if you have first pressings. Vinyl must be in good condition with no marks or scratches and cover also in good condition. Also sold heaps of Punk CDs for good money.

      A lot of people lie and brag about things they (had or never had) I don't know how many times I've had people go on and on about all of the records they have that they admit never listening to and that are getting ruined up in their attics, and they don't want to sell them no matter how many times you tell them you are interested in buying them and will pay cash. Not saying that guy is lying but happens all too often.

    Vinyl collecting is generational. So the prices that this guy had on those records were probably from the 70's or 80's, when the people who were into those artists were alive. However, Elvis is a perfect example of a generation who had pretty much died off, and there's no one around with that kind of expendable cash. That's why that $300.00 record is now selling for $50.00. The Badfinger album is really cool! (Depending upon its condition.)

    • @spek-27

    • @spek-27
      @spek-27 Рік тому

      @@stevegilmore2093 I guess you're young, cause if you think vinyl is "back" you weren't around for when it was actually here. It's having a small comeback catered to a certain type of audience. You think being able to buy a Taylor Swift record at Target for $40 means it's back? No. And I was specifically talking about "re-sale prices". My comment still stands.

    • @stevegilmore2093
      @stevegilmore2093 Рік тому +2

      @@spek-27 not back. But it has a pretty decent sized community that’s pretty dedicated. Compared to what 10 years ago it’s been a resurgence. But for what I could’ve gotten a 10$ record 10 years ago I’d now 50$.
      Point being prices have actually gone way up, not down.

    • @spek-27
      @spek-27 Рік тому

      @@stevegilmore2093 Just because records are more expensive now to a niche crowd of devotees, doesn't mean that "vinyl is back". Like I said, it's having a small comeback catered to a certain type of audience. Only a small number of albums get a vinyl release. And those albums are more expensive now since it's so difficult to get them made, because barely anyone makes vinyl anymore because barely anyone buys vinyl anymore.

      If he didn't look at those Elvis 45's and they happened to have been on the Sun label with round push pin imprint marks then he really did miss out on the big dollars, because those later issue Elvis albums are all common compilations that are everywhere for a dollar each. However he did pick up some great 50's 60's original pressing rockers like Jack Scott, and those Cadillac albums are very rare to find, hope the condition was excellent on these.

I can imagine kids in the 50's swing dancing at the soda pop store.. lol. definately Pre-Rock.. which makes sense, as Elvis is at the cusp of the emergence of rock music.

    Condition condition condition. Collectors are usually not interested in records below VG or VG+ including covers. Going from M- to VG+ reduces the value 50% off the bat. Down to VG or VG- another 30%. If G or less it’s 10% to worthless. Not to be a downer but the number of Elvis collectors is quickly declining so don’t expect top notch prices like. Decade or two ago.

    More and More of the “Elvis era” 1955-63 material is falling in value by the year. It’s still great music but most record collectors want “Sgt. Pepper” and later Beatles, hard and classic rock, and especially metal, punk and 80’s. If that stash of records was Blue Note from the same era, there would have been $300 to $500 dollar figures on them.
