- OpTic Gaming was not long ago at the top of the Apex Legends competitive scene. Heading into Year 4 the expectation was that they were the best chance at dethroning the TSM and DZ dynasties but instead things go wrong and eventually they not only miss out on LAN but the org drops the team and leaves the scene altogether.

Just wanna say out of all the orgs that have ever left Apex this is probably the one that hurts the most. Partially because of how good they've been historically with 3 top 10 finishes on LAN but also because OpTic has definitely been a big inspiration to me and my channel. Definitely had dreams of one day doing content similar to that of their "Vision" or "Process" documentaries and had hopped that maybe one day they would bring that level of content to the Apex scene surrounding their team. Been a fan of them since I was a kid playing COD. Still rooting for the org and all the content they push but sucks they left Apex... Hope the boys can find a new home :(

The main issue/reason was probably they added zero value to the org - they didn't stream scrims or PL. Those are the two major viewership areas in apex . Gotta be some benefits to the org in these deals. Probably why zero started streaming on a regular basis. DZ weren't "really" getting much out of of that deal outside of Lan coverage.
Nah I think NRG hurts the most. I know sweet has gone to another org but nrg leaving was definitely bigger than this in my opinion.

I haven't play apex since cryo(I think is his name the drone guy) but I love watching your vids you definitely understand the scene and its great content
I just hate how the org handled their leaving of apex. They had the apex team in texas at their offices 2-3 weeks before letting them go and they couldn’t have had a small conversation about it then. One of my favorite teams for sure, hope they stick together and prove they’re a top team.

As an Optic fan for a very long time, the coach thing makes no sense because the COD team and Halo team both have head coaches that review gameplay and make sure they are doing the right things in and out of the game. Feel bad for these guys whatsoever because Optic dropped out as an org

feel free to go watch the full vods brother, if there is something important to hear then I keep it going like after that Furia fight but otherwise the vods cut off when teams die pretty quick and I can let it go too long, gotta keep the video moving

6:20 isn’t this a spectator mode issue? that all evo caches stay on the map even after they’ve been collected? I don’t recall seeing it ever work in spectator. even when you watch the team pick it up it still stays on our map
Nah bro this isn’t spectator mode, these clips are pulled straight from their streams. They drive right past them
@@AyeJHawk the clip at 6:14 shows player names in the kill feed so it’s the observer view. each team has an observer in the lobby to make the team POV streams. you can see this evo cache map issue still happening today on the FACEIT streams and main broadcast
Feel free to go find these clips for yourself. They all occur on day 6. They do not grab a single EVO cache shown. I zoomed in on the map, the gameplay is literally them driving right past it. They had never been in that area prior to the clip being shown. At no point did they collect them
@@AyeJHawk I'm not doubting the analysis that they skip EVO caches, I'm pointing out that these clips alone don't show that because of the bug. At the 6:25 example, that EVO harvester was already picked up by E8 at Round 1 00:14 (Game 4 Day 7). Optic drives by ~ 50 seconds later at Round 1 Closing 3:52. So there is no cache for them to collect, but the map/observer bug still makes it seem like there is.
Every team can collect the same EVO cache. It is not one use per lobby, it’s one use per team. E8 did grab it and Optic could’ve grabbed it immediately after. Whatever bug you are referring to is not occurring in these clips. Dropped himself on the Wide Swing podcast said driving right by EVO caches was a major issue for them. That EVO cache shown on the map was FULLY PRESENT and able to be grabbed in every single clip shown.

Scump’s little apex watch party phase, when he was waking up early to watch champs was literally what got me into comp apex, and honestly apex in general. So to see them leave truly hurts the scene, because apex is still young and I know they truly could have helped grow this scene like they’ve done with Cod and also other esports.
During that time I had wondered if that could elevate even further. Scump was playing apex all the time, even ranking with Hal, Verhulst and others. Shotzyy, Pred, and other guys were playing it too. Wondered if we could maybe one day see the full blown scump watch party start watching ALGS match days or at the very least LANs with the whole crew (maybe even bring on apex creators like Daltoosh they have now, similar to how Maniac helps out more with Halo watch parties). Shame it never happened

I hate that we left Apex Legends it was the one team outside of COD I kept up with I loved every thing the highs and the lows.
I watched dropped’s video of needing a coach but from a different perspective, it seems they let little mistakes get in the way

The issue with the team is they never played together. opposite schedules, and I don't think they've ever ranked together. You have to play together, daily in order to compete in this née generation of apex

All three of them are among the most talented players. They just had no synergy at all.
Coaches in Cod and Halo are definitely important multiple examples of the being the case and for OpTic being in games like CS, Valorant and League in the past they know how important coaches are i think personally from following OpTic for like over 10 years the Org is in a weird place they have been slowly leaving all esports bar Cod and Halo over the last few years with no real explanation to why and not entering any new Esports, This decision to leave Apex is definitely all about the pointless inadequate partner program they obviously feel its not worth the money for what hey get in return which is sad.
Optic Gaming has rarely ever promoted their other teams. If a team isnt COD or Halo, its almost as if they aren't a part of the Greenwall. Which is an absolute shame considering they've had so many talented players with great personalities, yet as a casual fan you'd never know who they even were. Most didnt even realize they had a Rocket League and a Counterstrike roster until Optic announced they got rid of them. It just sucks because Dropped, Skittlecakes, and Knoqd deserved so much better from their org. Optic didn't believe in the esport enough to get them a coach, spouting no budget, but then signed Daltoosh immediately after. I can only imagine he was not cheap. Not to mention, Optic also had this same roster for almost two whole years, yet they only did a couple videos together with them. When they all did that in-person tournament against other Optic players, pretty much everyone there couldn't even be bothered to learn these guy's names. Everyone commentating on the couch kept asking who they were and wondered if they were any good at Apex. Just shows that they truly were the outlier and forgotten team.
This whole sitaution just really makes mad as an old Optic fan. They clearly don't want to be an esport org anymore. They want to be a "content" org now. I guess all you have to do to be a content org is make filler episodes of podcasts with the same four retired pros talking about COD from 2012.

I think something you should've touched on in this video and the XSET one should be about the inputs. Dropped mentioned it on his stream already, but how many teams that are going to LAN have 2-3 MNK players? You can count the number of double or triple MNK teams on one hand. Controller is just too strong and these teams like XSET and Optic that have more MNK players just can't keep up with the controller AA- regardless of how good the individual player is
Well I highly disagree with the idea that this was the issue. Furia is double mnk and a completely new roster and they made it pretty easily. Optic has been double mnk for years including when placing 2nd at champs. Same goes for XSET. It’s not like suddenly aim assist got more powerful this split compared to previous ones. If anything this meta caters more to mnk with you having to constantly fight through smoke

It feels ironic that every team who almost killed of TSM left the game within a year(ACEND, NRG, now Optic)
It seems like optic as an org is focusing/streamlining their focus away from smaller properties. A lot of these issues sound similar to issues that their Rocket League team was facing before their exit from the sport - I know they’re always big into COD/Halo but am interested if this is felt in other communities they used to be a part of.

@AyeJHawk that makes a lot of sense. Especially given that it feels (mostly) unattached from performance (recent league play excluded), it does seem like more a money/management issue, which is the worst. I hope this squad gets picked up, they’re solid gold together

Tbf - re: the coach thing. Optic value coaches in cod/halo. I think optic clearly weren't getting anything at all out of this deal, so didnt want to invest more money. All they had to do was turn the dam streams on lol

Karma the goat in cod and LunchBox in Halo. So weird there was a “disconnect” when BOTH team have coaches.
I think Dropped's point is that Apex is the esport the org is the least invested in, both financially and emotionally. COD and Halo are their core esports teams. And in those core esports they have seen that coaches are not that important so naturally if you carry that mindset then in the other esports you have where you are investing even less financial resources, a coach is a pretty easy thing to completely overlook and not give your team. When in reality of the three games Apex is probably the one where a coach is the most important. Thats the disconnect

With OpTic they all have coaches in both CoD and Halo and only Halo is allowed to have a Coach with them during the match and that's staple Halo Esports. I don't understand why they were denied a coach unless they were already planning to back out of ALGS because the Apex/EA isn't like CoD or Halo has it where their team skins goes directly to the Orgs.
Could only guess something is changing within the OpTic org or profits within the org is dwindling with how the economy is.
There’s absolutely no money in Apex which is the issue. So many big orgs have left so I don’t blame Optic at all tbh

So odd to me. If you were doing well before with a different comp and now you’re doing AWFUL with a new comp… just use what works. People get too caught up in META and it ruins them.
well the comp they ran at champs isnt as good as it used to be, the game nerfs and buffs characters, thats how it goes
a good team adapts to changes. this proves optic's greatness was a fluke.
as a team they finished top 3 in NA first split, 8th at split 2 playoffs (despite literally crashing one game) and 2nd at champs but one bad split and you call them a fluke. Far more likely the bad split is the fluke

The real reason they had such a decline is no coach. You telling me dropped a ranked grinder couldn’t figure out this team comp stuff? Guy has more hours than anyone. This team should be popping off or at minimum top 10. Maybe their just washed
