I tried the King one. It didn't do much for me. Chuck Palahniuk's Consider This I found to be much more helpful, with his practical, concise writing advice. And the crazy stories he tells in that book are wild. Also Elmore Leonard's 10 writing tips are worth looking at as well. Edit: oh sweet, booksaresick has read it. (I initially posted this comment before watching the video).
I am a new subscriber and love your channel! When you said your neighbor must have a budget of 8 million dollars I just died. I am still laughing. I feel the same way about my neighborhood. Someone always doing something in their yard.
SK, and more specifically Pet Sematary also got me into reading. Have been at it over a year now and have enjoyed so many. Currently halfway through 11/22/63 and enjoying it. Enjoy the content, upload more often if you can
Please update when finished!!! It's on my tbr but it's pretty chunky and a pretty daunting story, I also haven't read any SK before so I've been putting it off
I feel the same about the IKEA bookshelves. I have two of them in gray and they do not hold up well. But to be fair, I've had them nearly 8 years not and they went through multiple moves. Just don't put too many heavy books on them and it will help keep them from falling apart (from someone who has a lot of big heavy art books) 😆
I love books and I love sports cards too! In fact, sports cards is what my channel is all about. I found your channel early on due to our mutual love of Stephen king and have enjoyed every video you've made. Thanks for all the great content!
I don’t care for digital books. I guess I am old school and more tactile. I love the crispness & heavenly scent of the pages of a brand new book. Love holding the book in my hands, the sound of turning the pages. To me, each book I read is somehow a relationship for a while… and each book has a soul of it’s own. So ya, digital just doesn’t cut it for me.
27:15 - For kids/young adult books, I highly recommend anything by Colin Meloy. He’s the lead singer and songwriter for The Decemberists. His wife and him wrote and illustrated the Wildwood Chronicles which are 3 big fantasy fiction novels that are based near Portland, OR and it’s full of crazy characters like talking animals. It’s totally readable for adults too.
Write that book! While you were talking about it I was halfway listening while putting on my makeup and thought “oh I’m gonna download a sample of that” and then realized you were talking about your book.😂 it sounds so good! Have you done a video on your favorite coming of age? I haven’t read any of those I don’t think but I’m going to! I downloaded a sample of Perks…wallflower
My daughter spent about 7 years in college (she couldn’t decide on her ‘focus’), then we gave her a camera for Christmas. The rest is history. A non practicing teacher with $50,000 in college debt and we could have just given her an $800 camera. 🤷🏽♀️ She made a business out of it for 10 years (local weddings, destination weddings, senior pics, birth pics, family sessions…). Such a phenomenal eye. It takes talent to be a photographer. I’d love to see a sample of your work.
You and I share much. I am also a photographer and writer! Love your content! Keep it up. (Also I want that Titanic). I am also fascinated by titanic and I’d love to hear what you love about it. I wish there was a good titanic book.
I can't wait for you to read Revival by King. My favorite! I'm eager to hear your thoughts!!! My favorite cosmic horror and in my top 5 books of all time (hot take, I know).
Well Nick I’m a huge Chelsea fan but I’m also a Dolphins fan, so I feel bad that you went with the Bills haha. At least we both like books, cheers and love your channel!
Now that I'm reading the dark tower atm I've just passed the 5th one. I think about who I can see play these characters all the time. It's a tricky one.
people are way too serious about broken spines lol, personally I love when books are a bit beaten up and you can tell they've been read and loved!! if you haven't heard of it before, there is actually a proper way to "break in" the spine of a book (you lay it flat and go from outside in on both sides at the same time - there's lots of tutorials online) I do recommend trying it because in my experience it will help the book stay in better condition long term, especially if it's being read many times!
Star ratings are so hard, because sometimes a book is well written but I just did NOT enjoy it for whatever reason and rating it low seems unfair, and there's books I've loved that I'm well aware are trash 😅
Love your videos but please learn to look into the lens as it's so off-putting watching videos of people talking to a screen they can see themselves on.
You might like the photo book "On Reading" by Andre Kertesz. It's photography of people around the world reading!
Your picks are always so 🔥I have added so many books to my TBR since following you. Thank you for all of the recs!
I’m a maximalist too. Nice to finally meet another one! I collect antique curios of all kinds including books. Love your channel!
Yes! You need Stephen King’s On Writing book! It’s very inspiring and helps me get out of my slumps when I need that bit of a motivational boost!✍️
Its great!! I have it leant out to a pal right now but its one I've ready twice. Totally inspiring!

Awesome man! Thanks for this video. It was really cool to hear you answer all these questions

i cant wait to read your novel!
I recommend “Bird by Bird” by Anne Lamott… it’s a great book on writing!

One of my favorite lesser known King books!
I couldn't agree more, Revival does Lovecraftian horror justice. Definitely one of Stephen King's best works!
Chuck Palahnuik is my favorite author ❤
I was the same way with rating books. I switched to the CAWPILE system
Have you ever thought about doing a “Top 10 Short Stories” video?
I was just looking at books on Amazon and ran into, Clown in a Cornfield 2 & 3.
Well Nick I’m a huge Chelsea fan but I’m also a Dolphins fan, so I feel bad that you went with the Bills haha. At least we both like books, cheers and love your channel!
Got here in under 30 seconds let’s riiiiiiide
Yooooooo!!! Let’s go Chelsea!!! What do you think of the season so far, do you watch a lot of the games?
been enjoying the discussions on this channel lately. also have you thought about looking into doing a logo for the channel?
You absolutely need to read The Hike by Drew Magary! What a freaking hillarious fantastic thrill ride and omg THAT ENDING!
Yes!! This may be my favorite book!

Yes sometimes the comments are weird! Carry on!
Now that I'm reading the dark tower atm I've just passed the 5th one. I think about who I can see play these characters all the time. It's a tricky one.

Hahaha in my head I was like “I should just leave this part out”
lol ill do my best to move on from leaning this about you
The positive effects on mental health through reading cannot be emphasized enough.
alexisonfire are sick 🔥 enjoying the non book type videos!

@booksaresick what camera and microphone do you use?
Star ratings are so hard, because sometimes a book is well written but I just did NOT enjoy it for whatever reason and rating it low seems unfair, and there's books I've loved that I'm well aware are trash 😅
Can someone tell me who Evan (who does book content on UA-cam) is? Nick mentions him often but I’m unaware of this person. Thanks.
@book_reviews_kill. I had to do some searching as well 😄
I so love your statement that books & reading have positively impacted your mental health. yes!! Agree
Love the shirt xD
Books books books
Lets go Chelsea Blues!!!! 🔵⚪️
Hey! I was just wondering if you have any more news on the t shirts.
Actually just picked them up 30 minutes ago! My hope/goal is to have them all shipped by Tuesday :)
@@booksaresick oh great! No rush, though. I was just curious.
❤️
Why do you wear your hat like Spanky in the Little Rascals?
Do you know who Jared Polin is?
Can we get Evan’s social media handles?
Yes to Stephen King.
Maybe it's time to stop the week count? It's kinda like saying your kid is 200 weeks old or something.
Love your videos but please learn to look into the lens as it's so off-putting watching videos of people talking to a screen they can see themselves on.
Books are sick and the doctor is in. 🥼
This comment 💯💯
