As someone who has read maybe 2-3 Stephen King books in my life, I would love a video of yours ranking all the ones you've read, to know which ones to read :)
So much Stephen King! Love it! I started the second Dark Tower but I had it on audio through Libby and it was due before I got very far but I am now listening to the Stand so hopefully I finish it before it’s due!
@11:17 - Love that you & Ashlynn enjoy tent camping! That was one of my favorite things to do growing up that I miss a lot! Dolores Claiborne is another book I read in my teens that I don't remember well and decided not to re-read due to the abuse content, especially the child abuse.
I loved this video! And the fact you have another 24 hour Stephen King video? Yessssssss. Love that you loved both The Green Mile and On Writing, those are two of my favourites!
New subscriber here 😊 I'm loving these videos! Thank you so much for uploading content like this. I can tell you truly enjoy reading stories and sharing your thoughts with us. I just finished reading 11.22.63. I just bought the audiobook for it. I'm listening to the story all over again. It's a story I can't stop thinking about. I also ordered IT, The Green Mile, and Billy Summers, all by King from Amazon. Can't wait to dive into his universe! Happy reading!!
I also saw the film in 1999 when it released, loved it, and have been wanting to re-watch it since. It's free on Tubi for the next few days so I'm going to watch it tonight.
I love your videos . My favorite video was the one on how to get your man into reading . I just purchased Pet Cemetery and The Shinning by Stephen King.
That was my first Stephen King book too and it me realize that my favorite genres are historical fiction and time travel, because reading that book made me think of my another book that I love, Timeline by Michael Crichton.
I read the green mile when it came out as seven individual books love this video and your amazing channel and sending my prayers and blessings for you and your wife and your families love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤
I'm reading the Green Mile right when I finish Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlen, and I'm so excited! I've already read part one and I can already tell that it might become a new favorite of mine. Cheers!
I am listening to the audible version of misery and it's so good. I have read the book and seen the movie but the audiobook is so detailed. Also have you read his book Bazaar of Bad Dreams? Love this video btw! Maybe you and Ashlynn should do one where you read the Stephen King book together and then watch the movie adaptation- Like read the shining/ then watch the shining. Read Misery and then Watch misery!
I’ve watched a bunch of movies based off his books but never read a single book of his. You’ve convinced me I need to read some of these. Next month I’m actually going to attempt 11/22/63 for Historathon. Excited to see what I think of it.
I’m reading my first Stephen King novel at the moment “Needful Things”! It’s super long but enjoying it so far. I would love to see a review of this from you!
- I've never heard of Colorado Kid😮😮 - I haven't read The Green Mile but I've watched the movie and it was so sad😭 - I LOVE Dolores Claiborne and I especially like the audiobook! You can hear her take a drink of water during the interview😅 - I've read and watched Misery....the book is WAY better and darker than the movie.....I liked everything about the book except for the book excerpts....totally unnecessary imo😅 - You read so much Stephen King this month...Goals!!!🎉🎉
My first and (so far) only Stephen King novel was also his first, Carrie, and I'm excited to read The Shining now. I loved the Green Mile movie and I thought about picking up the book too. I remember my mother had a copy with the movie cover (at least Tom Hanks was on the cover), I hope she still has that book 😅
Learning that Stephen King is more than horror from you, has opened my eyes. I think you and your wife should do bookshelf tours. With the books that you will not part with.
Have you ever watched the show "Haven"? It's based on "The Colorado Kid. The beginning of the series started out well but dwindled as it went on, but I would still watch it. The Green Mile is great. I never read Later, I need to now. Delores Claiborne is amazing, the movie doesn't do it justice. The Eclipse also is part of Gerald's Game too (I think). I never read "On Writing" yet."Desperation" and "The Regulators" are mirror books, read them back to back. I recently reread "Misery", it's better the second time. "Dr. Sleep" is very good.
Have you ever read SKs "The Eyes of the Dragon"? I've been a king fan since I was a kid in the 70s, the movie "Carrie" was my first. But in all these decades I never read that one. I hear it's mostly about Randall Flagg which sounds great but I've never gotten around to it. So if you did read it was it good? And if you haven't, could you?
I’ve never read misery but the name Annie Wilkes sounded familiar and then I remembered that she was also a character in the series Castle Rock which I think was adapted from several of King’s stories. If you haven’t seen it, you should watch it :)
Oh no I love Stephen King books, but I was really looking forward to watch your thoughts on Fairy Tale since it was in the thumbnail😢 Hope we get to see it soon.
Im always happy for a new video but im still waiting for you to read the count of monte cristo after that 24 hour challange clickbate (i was reading it at the time and loved it so i saved the video until i finished and than you didnt read it😭) youll love it, adventure, revange, fast paced and youre not one to be sceard of long novals, please read it!
Out of his Hard Case Crime books my rankings - Joyland (actual crime story), Later (you nailed it Sixth Sense vibes), Colorado Kid (a mystety with no reveal). Ive got Billy Summers on my Kindle.
@0:43 - I watched and really enjoyed the TV series Haven (2010-2015), which is loosely based on The Colorado Kid. Not so sure that I would like the book.
Amazing challenge & I highly enjoyed it! The only thing I would change is you should have read The Green Mile in its true form, as a serial novel. A slight injustice in your reading experience.
I just finished the Colorado kid and my opinion on it is the same, nonetheless still glad I read it! My next Stephen king read is going to be Joyland or Cycle Of A Werewolf!
I started w Misery years ago. It's not too intimidating and pretty fast-paced. Also, not tied to any other book as far as I know. Carrie is also a classic and it's short. Don't feel pressured with all the ties between books, as even if you haven't read the dark tower you'll be able to understand everything. The Bill Hodges trilogy is also good, and Holly follows a character in there and also could hook you right in. Idk if I helped, and also I'm a month late, but hope you can get on the sk loop! You won't regret it :)
I have only read a few Stephen King stories, It, Carrie, The Gunslinger(3x) and On Writing. My sister and I listened to the audiobook and we both really enjoyed it. I have dabled at reading The Stand and Christine, but never made it very far. I will be trying Christine again when my hold comes in.
Hey if you're looking for tearjerkers written by Stephen king I would go with The Girl who loved Tom Gordon and what's essentially a short story Elevation
Oh the Green Mile that movie I saw/heard the part where they didn’t put water in the sponge. Traumatized me for so long. My husband showed it to me as an adult. It’s a good movie but never again. The book may be safer for me though.
Hey! At 2:02 are you listening to music when reading ? if so what are you listening to and why ? Also, im picking up some stephen king books for my next reads =)
So I'm curious and have to ask - how do you keep track of all the Stephen King books? I just looked up on wikipedia that he has 50+ novels and 200+ short stories and some of them are sequels or series or linked in some way. I feel like this is an author that needs a spreadsheet or flow chart lol.
You need to do like a Stephen King recs video for people who like or don't like horror. PS Have read Molly or Fairy Tale? I think your lovely wife was going to. I definitely will watch her video too.
Dolores Claiborne is my favorite Stephen king book i also love the movie adaptation starring kathy bates and Jennifer Jason leigh both are so underrated please check out the film
As a Stephen king fan I have to say, Ian you have to read Sátántango!! There’s not really a connection with king’s writing style, but I just wanted to recommend you my favorite book🥹
Have you ever read Billy Summers by Stephen King? If not then you have to read it. It’s a personal favourite of mine and hugely underrated in my opinion.
@@iangubeli Absolutely. It was the second book of his that I read (the first being the shinning) and it really showed me that he is so much more than just a horror writer.
Right when you introduced The Colorado Kid, I verbally said “oh no….. he’s not going to like that.” He’s got a lot of winners, not sure what that one was though.
Haha your a beast reading that much. And someone needs to do an investigation on Stephen King and see where he’s hiding his multi dimensional machine to write so many books with great detail.
I am a simple woman. I see Ian or Ashlynn and I smash the like.
Me too i am new to each of their channel and i am obsessed
Same... 2 seconds in, I'm already liking their video 😅
As someone who has read maybe 2-3 Stephen King books in my life, I would love a video of yours ranking all the ones you've read, to know which ones to read :)
Absolutely. I’ve read about 10 now but want more lists like this from someone who loves his work
Are you KIDDING me, FREAKIN' GUY??? TWO VIDEOS BACK TO BACK??? You're killing me!!!! WHAT A FRIDAY THIS IS. May the Lord keep you safe!
The way my jaw DROPPED when you said you hadn’t read Misery!
In my top 3 of SK forever.
So much Stephen King! Love it! I started the second Dark Tower but I had it on audio through Libby and it was due before I got very far but I am now listening to the Stand so hopefully I finish it before it’s due!
2 Stephen King vids in a week? 😭🙏 God bless you!
Two more on the way for October😏
Delores Claiborne is fantastic. Her voice is like talking to a real person. Real conversations don’t always flow in a linear fashion.
@11:17 - Love that you & Ashlynn enjoy tent camping! That was one of my favorite things to do growing up that I miss a lot!
Dolores Claiborne is another book I read in my teens that I don't remember well and decided not to re-read due to the abuse content, especially the child abuse.

@8:12 - The Sixth Sense & Beetlejuice vibes... You've sold me on reading Later.
I found ur channel today and im already obbsessed your content is so good and i really appreciate all your views and opinions, keep up the good work

The tv series called Haven uses the Colorado kid novel as a plot point and inspiration
Hope you like the books, Ian! This was an awesome video and I’m cracking open Night Shift immediately.
@15:09 - I've had a physical copy of On Writing on my shelf since 2014 and have yet to read it. Need to make that a priority next year.
You are a dedicated mad lad and I approve. You've got my respect.
@3:09 - I read The Green Mile as a teenager and don't remember it well, so this is on my TBRR (to be re-read) list.
I also saw the film in 1999 when it released, loved it, and have been wanting to re-watch it since. It's free on Tubi for the next few days so I'm going to watch it tonight.

I need to read the dark tower😣
I just read Dolores Clayburn❤❤❤❤🤢
What's your reading process? I struggle reading more than 50 pages a day. It takes me about 2 hours and i get tired, bored, distracted, hungry etc.
I’m trying to do stephen king publications in order……I’m having trouble staying in order lol
I read Pet Sematary, The Shining, Firestarter and The Dead Zone and enjoyed all of them. I tried reading Christine, but I got bored.
Have you ever read Billy Summers by Stephen King? If not then you have to read it. It’s a personal favourite of mine and hugely underrated in my opinion.
