I’ve been so excited for you to get to this episode for a while! Jon and Sansa’s reunion is everything! So heartfelt and even though they never had ONE scene together, the chemistry is perfect. We always thought about Jon and Arya reuniting or Sansa and Arya, but Jon and Sansa is such an emotional surprise. There are so many great moments in this show, but this is easily my favorite scene of the show.

The last time Jon saw a member of his family was when he said goodbye to Ned. The last time Sansa saw a member of her family was the moment Ned was beheaded. 😧
Brienne will never trust the Red Woman. And she wanted to make that VERY clear. Brienne always makes her position VERY clear.
Daenerys observed the assembled khals and knew they were no threat to her. They were "small men." She is a queen.

The show always had a way of giving you hope and taking it away at the last second. That's why scenes like this stand out. That's why the giveback feels so satisfying. I recall being genuinely happy, that's how invested I was in the Starks story during that time and I was by far not the only one. This was much anticipated for the Stark children to have their moment under the sun. It's been what, 50 something episodes?! Where else but in Thrones will you have two characters legitimately grow up by the time they meet again. Cat would be proud.

The music score for this show is incredible! Ramin Djawadi is a genius who perfectly fits the music to the character and theme. The music that played over that final scene was a variation of Dany's recurring theme since she got her dragons. The outstanding music is one thing that is consistently great throughout the run of the show.

Not going to lie, in that initial scene with Jon and Sansa: Sophie Turner's acting is absolutely top notch. Her facial reaction while hugging Jon is everything you would expect someone who went through the hell she did to show when she finally embraces someone whom she knows loves her and will protect her.
Yes, obviously Brienne would protect her and has since she saved Sansa but with everything Sansa has been through there may (at that moment) still be a "can I trust you" thought in the back of her mind and finding someone she absolutely 1000% can trust is just what she needed.

  • @SDG.12

Young Jon in the book was a brooding and self-loathing boy who could barely hold his tears back at the neglect his stepmom showed him, at having to sit in the corner with the servants, at how he was generally treated by everyone (yep, he's Harry Potter before there was a Harry 🤯). He was far from a heartthrob then. It was Robb who was the graceful one, pampered and with an effortless charm. Little Arya was the one sibling devoted to Jon because they both shared the feeling of being outcasts. They would play fight in the Crypts throwing flour bombs at each other, much to the annoyance of a very bratty Sansa. Sansa would not even call Jon her brother, she would only refer to him as her half-brother. Almost an eternity of suffering later, in the 4th book a weathered and very different Sansa would wistfully think of Jon while living in the Vale as Alayne : "𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒂 𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒎, 𝑶𝒉 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏..." But yeah, in the book as you get to see more of young Jon and Sansa before they leave Winterfell, this bittersweet reunion strikes you even more vividly. Just thinking of everything they've been through and just how much they've grown, it's very beautifully done!

Hands down one of the most emotional moments of the show. It's hard to describe the feels I got for that Jon and Sansa hug, with the Stark theme playing like a dagger to the heart. I knew it was happening as the spoilers and clips were all over the internet, but still felt unreal. It's only emblematic that the long lost siblings would at last cross paths in an episode named after the god of death and unknown: the Stranger. Jon saying "I fought and I lost" as a nod to Ser Alliser is haunting too. How about that shot of Theon in the ship facing Pyke? Exactly like the beginning of S2. But that Theon is forever dead. This was a rewarding episode not only from the Starks end, but also from Dany's end. When Dany first married Drogo she was told of a prophesy of all the different Khalesars returning to Vaes Dothrak in front of the Mother of Mountains to be united into one body, a living Dothraki Sea. We're very close to that prophesy being fulfilled.

"Only she could enter as a slave and leave as a Queen." Great line. Really wish the show had used it. Don't get me wrong, that was a great scene... and it was even better when we saw it the first time, at the end of season 1. Okay, enough shade. I actually do really like the show. But, again, great line, Sofie. Don't know if you ever considered becoming a screenwriter, but maybe you should.

Finally...there you have it. The glitch in the matrix! The breaking of the Stark curse. That pause, that slow turnaround, and that slow mo hug was tailor made for all the endless twitter and tumblr gifs lol. After the airtight darkness of last season this was needed. As far as Westeros goes, this is as happy as it gets. The reunion just hits different when you're watching in real time and wait for years on end for it to happen. I remember the reactions of ppl freaking out lol. Let's not forget this wasn't your standard "TV reunion" that happens after a couple episodes of separation. This almost seemed like a real thing. That feeling of pure joy and poignancy can't be recreated, cause it's six long seasons in the making. Only in GoT.

targaryens does get burn by fire, daenerys doesn't because of the magic in the dragon eggs, the witch burned, and the witchcraft on drogo, all that together made two miracles: a targaryen that doesn't get burn by fire, and 3 living dragons after 300 years

Keep in mind that this would be just another one of those blink and miss show reunions if it wasn't for the river of shit you had to wade to get there. All those frustrating near misses, all those rage quit moments. There's not much you can do to create a feeling of authentic attachment more than six years of prolonged torture. You had a visceral reaction to the starks reuniting because you were forced to travel a twisted and fickle road with them. It's the journey that counts. What if the family had gotten together after Ned's execution to plot revenge, as is customary in these situations in shows? Jon saying "I'm going to put a sword thru King Joffrey's throat" before our hopes are dashed and his friends return him to the wall. All that feels like a lifetime ago. Just think back how many seasons it's been and let it sink in. I do believe that was an overlooked key ingredient to why GoT captured the imagination of so many countless folks at one time. The slowburn. The longer it was, the more memorable these moments became. They never blew the load early. Nothing was given, it all had to be earned.

I can't remember if it was talked about in the show, but Tormund in the books loved to tell the story about making love to a big female bear and to a female giant, so we know he likes his women BIG. So in rides Brianne, and I think Tormund is smitten! That's why he's staring at her like he is.
It's nice to see you smile and shed happy tears for Jon and Sansa's reunion. Sometimes I worry that all the bad things happening in this show has crushed the happy side of you... but then things like this bring it back out for a while. Seeing any of the Starks back together is fantastic, especially since they've all been separated since Bran sent Rickon and Osha south.
I think you're the first reactor who has commented that Dani was acting like her father when she burned the khals, and I think it's an interesting comparison - except we know Dani's motives and reasoning for her actions, where no one seemed to know why the mad king burned people. But now I think she has plenty of manpower to finally head to Westeros and fight.

I'll never understand the fire thing with Danny. In season 1 she was only immune to fire due to the red moon.. Her family burned each other alive in civil wars for 200 years. Kind of wish they explored it more, because I don't think that will happen in the books.

    • @annaarwen4345
      @annaarwen4345 Рік тому

George has said that Danys fire immunity at Drogos pyre was a miracle, a holy event. So if this is to happen in the books it would also have to represent a highly ritualised event -it could happen because the Dosh Khaleens temple is at the Dothrakis holiest site. The show is notorious for missing the finer details of the magic systems within the book. The show runners did not understand the fantasy story building and so it created inconsistency in the show.

dfsdfdsfsFS SANSA AND JON REUNION. FINALLYYYYY. I admit, they weren't The first two starks I wanted to reunite. I wanted to see Jon and Robb back in the day, or sansa/arya, or jon/arya but I will wait a little longer for those. I didn't realize how much I needed Sansa/Jon together. Their hug was adorable and made me so happy. I loved their conversation too and apologies. Sansa used to be a brat, I am glad she apologized. I think trying to take Winterfell is super dangerous but I understand her wanting to and I cant wait for it. HELP HER JON PLEASEEEEEE.
Tyrion is so good at everything he does. He is so smart and charming. Truly one of the best characters. And I love how he is just thriving. He can make the best of any situation wherever he is.
Poor Loras. He doesnt deserve everything that happened to him. And Margaery is so strong. I want them to get out of there.
Finally we see Baelish again. What a master manipulator.
Yara, wtf, chill. Your bother was held captive and manipulated. But I like that he wants to help her. I hope they can work together now.
OSHA. I knew it wasnt going to go well for her but I am still sad. She did so well taking care of Rickon and now this...

It has nothing to do with Cersei "not liking" Marjorie. It is because she knows the Tyrells are using Tommen, as they would have with Joffrey, to gain power in the realm. Power the Lannisters held previously. Cersei acts in the interest of her family. And herself of course, but that is just like anyone else.

For the rest of the show GRR Martin didnt write, so keep that in mind as you progress through the show.
For me the Bolton storyline is irritatingly bad compared to the book version. Like the Martells the writing is substandard and crude tbh. Oshas death made me want to throw something at the tv - it was so poorly done. Its a disservice to her character which would know Ramsey is nothing like Theon. She would have died fighting for Rickon before the Umbers could hand them over.

Its interesting in this episode is the bond between sisters and brothers. Margaery, Yara and Sansa, specially if we comparing with Cersei. All of the 3 try to protect their brothers and offer some help. While Cersei is the opposite. She only takes from jamie what she needs.
Sansa never blamed Jon for not be there for her. Cersei did got angry at jaime for not be with her, when he escape from Rob
Yara felt betrayed because she tried to rescue, yet Theon choose to stay. Cersei only tried to talk with Tywin, to know how he would rescue Jaime.
Margaery comforts Loras in jail, despite been in the same situation. Cersei pushed Jaime for taking long to reach the city and even punish him, by making sure he would prevent someone to enter Tommens rooms.
-At this point, it doesnt matter for Sansa, if Jon is a bastard or not. But he is the only familiar face, she knows. She understood how cruel she was to him, by having experience all of that abuse. She accepts him as brother and King of the north.
-Margaery is been so strong by holding her ground. We assume she suffer some sort of the same abuse that Cersei did. But she is holding more. The only way high Sparrow thought breaking her, was showing Loras! Again we do not know what type of abuse he did suffer. the way she is conforting him, trying to make him strong is heartbreaking. Margaery is in the middle of dilemma. Will she risk to loose everything she work for, by giving in? or its the time to be ruthless and keep going strong?
-Its funny how Cersei turn to the people she hates for help. But how can they trust in her? I like the fact, she even got a little intimidated by Lady Olenna comment "better them, than us" comment. Cersei realized that Olenna is ruthless when it comes to deffend her grandkids...

i liked the jon and sansa reunion until shippers making it romantic ruined it for me
they aren't even compatible as friends much less that... (like they always are arguing fucking hell it's annoying, but from this seaosn on the made sansa unlikable in the show [not the books, she's still one of my faves in the books and earlier seasons of the show] so w/e)
jon always got along with arya and robb the best (and of course the younger ones)
i'm glad they found some kind of family in all of this though
and the dany scene was ICONIC, queen of everything and my heart
the composers favorite character is dany and it shows, her songs are always bops
