I am IMPRESSED! I love Unchained Melody anyway, and I never thought about it to bluegrass music, but this is marvelous! Thanks, Ray! You never cease to amaze and impress me with your music. I love all your songs and stories -- the funny as well as the serious.
People often forget that outside his comedy, Ray Stevens can sing and is an excellent singer. 'Everything is Beautiful' proved that several decades ago.
Yes indeed, so is "Indian Love Call" and "Turn Your Radio On". Ray Stevens is a very talented singer. I wish he would record more "traditional" songs. His comedic ones are enjoyable of course but it is great to hear his lovely voice in the other songs as well.
He is an incredible arranger, even when he's having some silly fun with an old classic like this one ("Help Me Make it Through the Night"): ua-cam.com/video/5vYh6nh9yaI/v-deo.htmlsi=xXlDSykE4pDPX0Wx
Ray Stevens has been one of my favorite artists for many, many years. I was privileged to attend one of the first shows he put on in his Branson, MO theater. I am awed, as usual, by the way he can put his own spin on a song and make it work. If you've never heard it, you should listen to his recording of "Misty" (NOT the video version)
That reminded me of Misty with the banjo. I look forward to the album, CD or whatever they call it these days. I have been a fan of Ray's music since the 60's. I still marvel to think that one man came up with EVEN STEVENS. Thanks for all the great music.
I met Hank twice, what a gentleman. I had a old 8 track and he signed it for me ,I had him sign it willian Henry Thompson. He said he didn't know there was a 8 track out there .I'm 86 and it's one of my treasures.also he had to get out his glasses didn't ware them while on stage. There's a picture of Patsy Cline and a member of Hanks band in Las Vegas . I had that picture also, I showed it to him ,he said it was not a member of his band.but did remember him ,he was at all of his shows.country music is not what what it was. When George Jones and Toby Keith died so did country music. Be safe everyone
This is my all time favorite song. I have heard many people sing it, but Ray Stevens is the only one I have ever heard that comes close to the Righteous Bros version. Ofc it is bluegrass, while theirs was pop. Just beautiful!!!!
Never heard unchained melody by ray Stevens before, I had the pleasure of seeing him in Albany Georgia,in the 80's Ray Stevens and Ray Charles, both great entertainment.Great show thanks for the memories Ray Stevens God bless you
This video is real in this setting this song was written by a inmate in prison...two months ago I looked it up and Ray has put it in its original setting great for him....thanks Ray great video.
Here's wishing this becomes another Ray Stevens upload to reach 1 million unique views. A fun rendition of a song traditionally performed way too slow. Your rendition is so good!! The majority of us who love this rendition check out Ray's album, Melancholy Fescue, or look for the audio tracks here on UA-cam. That album contains "Unchained Melody" plus his renditions of "Oh, Pretty Woman", "Can't Take My Eyes off You", "Goin' Out of My Head", "People", and seven more classics.
Absolutely love this!! Grew up listening to Ray Stevens and up until now have never heard this before. Totally love it, along with all his songs. Especially "Ahab the Arab" and "Gitarzan"
Great! What a discovery, thumbs up to wikipedia I could not have found this without it. I was trying to find the version of help me through the night that I knew..and I did also I have found this treasure.
Awwwwww wow! Ray Stevens should have been a singer! Whoa wait he already is!!!! I totally love "unchained melody" and the way Ray and his guys play and sing it! Awesome!
Exactly the right tempo! The tie-less white shirt and hat are very reminiscent of locals that live around my side of town. And the beard! Looks very cool!
FANTASTIC AND FANTABULOUS!! Ray knows how to arrange and SING a song! I thank God for the gift of Ray from music to morality! Keep up the Conservative Cause and never, ever stop entertaining the world! P.S. The band and back ups were splendiforous also!
Thank you Mr. Stevens for this lovely rendition. It takes a lot of skill and courage to record a song differently that it's debut but you did it and it's very good. Thank you for sharing it. I like this one as much as the original and so does my wife...
I've been waiting for this every since I first heard your version of Misty sooo long ago. I hope the rest of the "Melancholy Fescue" album is going to be like this. Excellent.
Ray Stevens is awesome! He could sing the phone numbers out of a phone book & it would sound great!
Hahaha yeah he darn sure could
And he’d have you in stitches the entire time
Oh my gosh, it nearly took my heart right out of my chest. The man has still got it!!
Love the back ground singers too. Love to all of you!
I think the background singers might actually be Ray too. It sounds like a layer of Ray voice recordings to me.
Ray is a genius. He can make your day with laughter or do some real justice to a serious song by putting his inimitable fingerprint on it.
I am IMPRESSED! I love Unchained Melody anyway, and I never thought about it to bluegrass music, but this is marvelous! Thanks, Ray! You never cease to amaze and impress me with your music. I love all your songs and stories -- the funny as well as the serious.

This instantly made me think of Ray’s brilliant cover of “Misty”, one of my all-time favorite records. This is equally as wonderful! 👍🎯👍

Only Ray could take this song and add humor to change the whole perspective! Love it 😍
Ray Stevens has always had a beautiful voice and a great sense of humor. Wonderful man.

There are just no words for the beauty of this song!😢😢😢
I grew up to this guy. Good to see he is still around.
This is an amazingly refreshing version! Great instrumental backing to go with Ray's great singing style. This rendition has spunk!
I never thought I would like another version of this as well as the original but I LOVE it.
That’s a rather unique rendition of this classic hit. Very nice! 😊
You can't look at Ray Stevens and not fall our of your chair. Thank you, Ray. You've kept many of us 'real'.

a wonderful rendition of an old classic. thank you.
Every time Ray opens his mouth to sing a cover, it always sounds better than the original.
This is great !!. I'm so glad George Costanza found work as a fiddle player after Seinfeld. He seems to be very good at it.
Excellent rendition of a classic by a classy classic artist ... another hit for Ray Stevens.
Another awesome Ray Stevens production. What a voice !

Great version, by the legend ray stevens❤😊
Exactly the right tempo! The tie-less white shirt and hat are very reminiscent of locals that live around my side of town. And the beard! Looks very cool!
Ray is a great performer, especially when he "plays it straight". Just take, for example, his song "Everything is Beautiful".
I wish he would sing a song for the world in this Pandemic! Only he could come up with the best.
Owww, so beautiful.
This was great!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest. Unchained Melody. Ever.

Ben Cooley he has a habit of doing that doesn't he? Misty, Help me make it through the night. I'd love to see what he could do with some John Denver.
