- I found myself alone at night in one of the most dangerous cities in Colombia, Buenaventura!!
The bus driver dropped me off outside the completely closed bus terminal and I hadn't even booked a hotel yet!! I found a cheap hotel called "Sweet Dreams"!!
While I was looking for it, many locals told me to be very careful because I was walking around with my bags and camera in my hands!! After wandering the dodgy streets of Buenaventura and talking to some strange people, I finally met the best and private escort in Colombia!! And she's probably the reason I'm still safe and alive today haha!!

Just wanted to clarify cause im pretty sure you meant "Escort" as a person who follows you around to keep you safe (like a private security) but in Colombia the word "Escort" is more commonly referred to "sex workers". Be careful what you wish for. Honestly, it's better to not be robbed or to be looking over your shoulder. Of course go to places you are interested in..but it's better to take some precautions like not wonder around at night...especially with any valuables. They can spot a gringo instantly. If you look colombian probably an advantage.

Tim, you know how to find the hotties. My wife’s family is from Manta, Ecuador. When she took me there to meet her extended family, I had a blast. The people were all cool to me. It helped that I can speak Italian. That was back in 2009 after we got married. We are planning a trip there so they can meet our kids. I’m stoked.
