Great review of a great product. I have the conversion cabinet, and the difficulty selection buttons to the right actually light up. It cycles through options and then stays lit after making a selection. Hopefully your review unit is not malfunctioning, I wonder if it's just a difference between the dedicated cab and conversion units. Maybe both units have the exact same internal components, and the resources for lighting the buttons were rerouted/allocated to the upper mode display on the dedicated unit.
The console buttons on the dedicated cabinet never lit up. There’s no reason to make them light up. You’re confusing the conversion with the dedicated. The conversion buttons light up to show which level was chosen.
Laserdisc4Life! 😂. They were the ones I just stared at in awe when I was a kid. Love this cab from NWT. Felt the same in wanting a different form factor than DL. Now they need DL2. And Cliff Hanger, bc that’s my favorite laserdisc game, along with Firefox. And…etc lol.
I was very disappointing in the release (and the conversion with red t-molding) The side panels are thicker, the t-molding join is in the middle on the front and it's taller (if you compare to the original DL and this dedicated cab) But that's just me. Still happy to have this as it's my all time favourite LD game
Great Review Sir! Yes indeed, all around a superior product. I have *One* (minor) complaint & a nitpick, however. ^_^ Complaint- With Replicade's First Release of Dragon's Lair, they not only included the Laserdisc Player & Laserdisc, but also a Faux Remote Control for the player. This little guy, sadly, is not present in either the DL 2nd release or this release of Space Ace. :-/ Nitpick- JUST after releasing this & the 2nd Run of DL, Replicade announced their Ghoul's 'n Ghost's/ Ghost's 'n Goblins Cabinets. THESE Guys are going to have actual, functioning Coin Slots! (Yes, when you put one of their adorable little tokens into the slot, it will register as if you put a quarter in the real machine! In addition, they will also include a Faux Power Cable.) Why, oh why, didn't we get that feature with our Snazzy New Space Ace's & Dragon's Lair's'? ^_^ My complaints are serious, but they are truly minor. Replicade does amazing work & you again, did a great job of covering it.
That’s not an accident or oversight, that is New Wave Toys being awesome. The laserdisc player that included a remote was only in the first wave of Dragon’s Lair machines-it wasn’t reliable and got replaced by the LDV-1000 that was a different color and didn’t require a remote. OG owners complaining that the re release is upgraded don’t realize the value of what they have. The newer is “nicer” with the upgraded functions, but the first edition has its own value.
@@ThorKCade I... can't tell. Is this sarcastic? :-D If not, what 'Upgrades' over the Original are you talking about? Making *any* kind of media player (non-portable) without a remote would be a step back, not forward. So, if sarcastic, very funny. If not, very confused. ^_^
@@torikazuki8701 The black laserdisc player was an upgraded model that didn’t require a remote like the one used in the original cabs and included on the original Replicades. The re-released Dragon’s Lair may not include the Replica remote, but it has an upgraded PCB to support dual screen display and has a few other changes like adding the Cinemtronica branding to the coin door. So no, not sarcastic, the black Pioneer LD-V1000 player didn’t have a remote but was apparently more reliable than the Pioneer PR-7820 that was replicated in the original Replicade release.
Hi Everybody, thanks for watching the video! Let me know in the comments what you think of the Space Ace X Replicade from New Wave Toys!

Thanks for the review Michael B. I sure wish they’d make 3/4 scale cabs.
Thanks Jolly, me too man me too
Looks great!

The Volcano buttons on the original never lit up? If so my mistake

Yeah just wanted to switch it up and I fell absolutely in love with this weird cab. They have to do Dragon's Lair 2 at some point
Now they just need to make DL2 and complete the Bluth trilogy 😁
That has to be coming at some point right?

It's pretty great!
I hope you try out some controllers with this game
Yeah i probably should have for the review but I was short on time
