As a kid in the 80s growing up, I had once thought these games were going to be the future of gaming. Not so much, but they sure were pretty awesome for the time. Still are cool to see if you spot one in this day and age.
Due to Bluth and company this was the beginning of gaming of today. No one knew what a laser disc even was. The gaming world of today should be kissing Rick and Don's tails for starting the games evolution of today. They were limited in the early 80's but if they had computers of today they would blow the gaming world away . Them being the pioneers is the reason we have the lifelike games of today.Amazing what they accomplished. I have the original dragons lair, space ace and dragons lair 2 in their original form in their original cabinets. I saved my money and bought the first Dragons Lair when I was 12 for 350.00. LoL
Played this game after school. Loads of fun. FYI, you can buy the DVD of this game and Dragon's Lar and actually play this game with your DVD remote! Still have them to day.
I only saw the arcade version in person once. My brother had the PC version at some point. I bet these Don Bluth games have been released on more systems than anything else. I almost forgot about the straight-up DVD releases. I remember seeing them in a Software Etc or somewhere similar.
Great game, animation and music-a classic. Anyone notice that when Borf first attacks, he has a huge gray mustache, where its black in the rest of the game?
The sad thing was Borf probably didn’t need to resort to what he did to control earth. He could’ve sold his infanto ray as essentially eternal life. Too old you say? One hit by the infanto ray and your age is reset. Keep resetting, eternal life. All you have to do is cede control to him. I bet a ton of people would do that for the prospect of a fountain of youth…
I only came across this one like once in arcades. Most places around me only seemed to have the two Dragon’s Lair games. Glad all of them always seem to find a way onto consoles to this day!
The best Sci-fi Arcade of Don Bluth Himself along with his Dragon Lairs! All Scenes perfect at 100% Others versions always skip the "Later Space Invader" Always here for the completion! Well done Completing all Don Bluth Laserdisk classics and not a Scene left out!
That's awesome. I've definitely played this one the least ... mainly because I never saw it in arcades. I remember seeing Dragon's Lair 1 and 2 around, but never Space Ace.
Been able to play this classic qlong with the dragon's lair games via emulating the dsiware ports. Safe to say im gonna purchase these games legitimately and enjoy them even better on consoles
@@EarthySpeedpaints Yeah it's worthy of that. I've been lucky enough to come across all 3 of the games in arcades at various points. They're a sight to behold.
no dudo que esta seria la pelicula que miraria andy de toys story en el cine, lightyear nisiquiera tiene ese elementos de peliculas de los años noventas y si lo se esto es un juego de arcade

As someone born in 71 I can assure you that there is NO sound more 80's than that laser blast.
81 here, but I can still agree on that. Popped up in He-Man quite a bit!

I played this game at Penn Station in NYC back in the day! We'd actually draw a crowd sometimes! Doing the entire game 1 handed was awesome and cool!
Seeing anyone get more than a couple screens in was always a sight!
Living the dream
2:35 my favorite line

No way
Gotta love the grunts, whah's, ahh's, and whoa's.
for a arcade game in 1983 this was cutting edge .50 cents or four Quarters to play .
What a great laserdisc game like Dragon’s Lair.
If you watch it at 75% speed. It is actually feels close to normal speed instead of the weird sped up feel

Wow I’ve never noticed that haha
Those are just his lips
Infantoray ricochet ? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 😆

Is there a playthrough that shows the animations of energizing as little as possible? ie, play as little Dex for as long as possible.
That's a good question. I've never tried to play it that way. I'll put that on my list of video ideas
"Dorf know I'm here?"
Well, considering you've been shooting his goons for the last three minutes...
Just gotta love the pounding Drumulator that’s heard throughout! It should’ve been mixed slightly louder, though. Peace.
Someone should make this into an animated series.
Not sure if you're serious, but there already is one.
@@KILRtv I realize that now, but I was thinking a remake series with the same animation as in the game.
@@HarryCardenas-ez2sy , which would be very cool, indeed.
Never played this but it's Dragons Lair in space so...
Fun!
Exactly!
I spent so many quarters on this game as a kid!

Great animation. Every frame deserves to be seen
When I first played I played on cadet level and then eventually went to space ace level

Love playing this game at Chuck E Chease!!
And at Showbiz Pizza Place.
I'll save you kimmy

Also I preferred space ace over both dragon's lair games
It’s amazing how many consoles these have been re-released on. Dragon’s Lair has to hold some kind of record.
@DoctorBadvibes it's one of 3 games to be in the Smithsonian. So there's that

Nancy Cartwright as Kimberly
Don’t have a space cow, man
Only in the short-lived TV show, though. Looks like in the game it was Lorna Cook, who mostly made a career as an animator.
KIMMY NEEDS BRACES
The name is Dexter probably because the game requires dexterity
no dudo que esta seria la pelicula que miraria andy de toys story en el cine, lightyear nisiquiera tiene ese elementos de peliculas de los años noventas y si lo se esto es un juego de arcade
I don't suck my thumb anymore.
I'm too old for that.
AHHHHH I've been hit!
Cartoon women are the best
as long as they aren't looney tunes

Basically Just A Movie
Si una película que con solo 9:51 minutos demuestra que es mejor que la película lightyear dura más
Infanto ray is no good.
That Infanto ray is evil.
At least it granted Dexter his wish to be called "Ace". - Nobody called him that until Borf was hit by it.
