I wear a helmet mirror when I'm riding both my bike and my scooter, so I see how cars behave before they pass me. Drivers don't seem to know what to do with a scooter. Sometimes they slow way down and tail me like they're afraid to pass, sometimes they blow by way too close or cut me off to turn into a driveway. On my bike they treat me just like another vehicle. It's much more predictable when I'm on a bike. I think people just need time to adjust.

Even though my scooter can hang with the traffic at 30mph, drivers seem to want to speed up and pass me when they see me ahead. Idk what ppl are thinking, like "Oh look, a guy on a scooter. Lets speed up and pass him as close as physically possible." 🤦‍♂️
Even when I'm on little side roads where the speed limit is 15 or 25, even with double no pass lines and blind corners, it's like they just HAVE TO pass me. They're obsessive about it. Like I'm gonna make them late for something, or they're stuck behind me and it's driving them crazy... Idk if they think I'm going slower than they realize or what, but I can't stand it. The crap is terrifying, esp on bridges.

@@thereindeertherabbitthebat592 There is also the possibility that they are overtaking you because they are afraid that you might swerve unpredictably or crash and they want to be "upstream" when it happens.

My experience in residential suburbs has been that drivers fall into one the two extremes: They are either way too nice for scooters (they have right of way, but still stay stopped) as they likely don't know what to do when they see a scooter... OR they equate you a to pedestrian (likely because you're standing) and expect you to stop on a dime or be moving at 3 mph max, or just get out of the road period. I was almost run over IN THE BIKE LANE about a month ago as some jerk decided that was a passing lane... But obviously everyone's experiences will vary depending on what jerks are out driving.
Very nice review. I did most of this same research as well in looking at an e-bike VS getting the MAX G2, specifically with the Lectric XP 2.0 and 3.0 (other than actually riding one). Went with the G2 as it fit my needs and really doesn't require tire maintenance/repair - namely roadside repairs. Still nice to have an e-bike for cargo, or when you have more leisure time - which would allow for time to fix a flat. The best compromise I've seen is to either get solid bike tires (only for non-fat tires that I know of) or inserts that are basically similar material - like Tannus Armour... But that does add about $100~150 to the cost, and will change the ride feel.

Sean, cars are so mean to me on my Kaabo Wolf King GT Pro. It’s rare that I’ll go on a ride without a car honking at me for passing them or for no reason at all. Or someone yelling at me thru their window. I get tons of compliments as well but people are 100% nicer to bicycle riders.

The part I do not like about the Lectrics and what kept me from getting one is that key. I like there being a key to unlock, and to remove the battery, but I would rather just lock the battery in, and insert the key into the handlebar as an on switch. I ended up going with a different more expensive ebike just basically because of that, an Aventon Sinch.

I also have a Rad Rover 6 e-bike to go along with my Apollo Phantom and I think they do accompany each other quite well. The bike is great for carrying lots of stuff with a rear rack and some pannier bags. Also if I know where I am going is going to be very bumpy I would rather take the bike. Also I feel much safer riding the bike when it's wet out. The scooter is much faster and devours hills and easier to take with me if I have to.

The brand is now established ending the buy vs. build debate. There was a cargo 22" tire model but the guys @ elecktrek help to cancel what I preferred. I also prefer 3.0 wide as compared to 2.4 or 4.0. That is my feedback.

I think a major thing that was touched on in this video is a torque sensor vs a cadence sensor. I bought a popular e-bike that was equipped with a cadence sensor and found that the 100% power pushed out no matter how slow I peddled was annoying and unnatural. I ended up returning it for a more expensive version of the bike that was equipped with a torque sensor. World of a difference! Far more natural and akin to my riding style. Each person should decide for themselves which works better for them, especially if you’ve perhaps had a leg/knee injury in the past etc.

The Lectrict XP 3.0 is my first ebike and I really enjoy it, BUT upgrade for a better seat you will, bust your butt on the one that comes with it when you hit even minor bumps.....also mine came delivered with the wiring wrong. my other issue is they make it sound like it is a breeze to fold and put in your car, but its a beast, its heavy and one half swings away from the other when you try and lift it in the car, and it comes apart when you put it in, metal parts catrching on parts of your cars enterior sometimes parts such as the chain will come off when you do so. that said, its a zippy little bike.

I had to fix my roommate’s Lectric XP so many times with inexcusable engineering failures that I would never buy one or recommend them to a beginner.
Examples: Fuse HOLDER that burns out instead of the fuse. Selling him a replacement battery instead of telling him about the fuse. Putting the fuse behind an Engrish “no tear off” warranty seal in the first place when the entire point is to make it user-accessible. Having a lock that just doesn’t retract when you need it to. Having a controller that gets moisture in it and fails.

Lectric appears to market decent ebikes, and they certainly have a loyal and supportive following. But they are now outclassed by the competition. The new Ride1UP Portola is the last nail in the coffin. At the time I am writing this (11/14) the Portola (with standard battery) is selling for $899...with a 750 motor, a better derailleur, a higher quality battery, better suspension, and (best of all) an easily accessible battery you can remove without folding the bike.

I find that drivers give me more respect on my scooter than my e-bike, I think because it seems cooler and I'm going with the flow of traffic. That's why my next e-bike will be able to do 40 MPH at minimum. Having a seat, the better balance, the cargo capacity: e-bikes are better, but scooters are faster.

We don't have a video on bleeding brakes yet. That's a great suggestion. I'd recommend finding a video on bleeding mountain bike brakes and it should get you in the ball park.
This is the adapter kit I use, and it makes all the difference. I don't think it includes mineral oil, but any mountain bike brake compatible mineral oil will work.
For me, what works best is removing the fill screw on the master cylinder, screwing in a funnel, then using a syringe to push fluid up from the caliper to the master cylinder. -Paul

I was shipped a badly damaged bike and Lectric did not want to refund me my money. At this point they could care less about me as a valued customer, it was all about the money now. They told me to read there return policy. There return policy does state: "All sales final" even on a damged bike?? There customer service is terrible if there is a legit issue. Had to go thru legal channels to get my money back on a bike i was never able to ride. Lets face it the XP 3.0 is a cheap bike by E-bike standards and they do have production quality issues and shipping damage issues. If you receive a non damaged bike you may be happy. I would stick with companies like Heybike, Mokwheel, Ride1up, Jasion and the Victrip Janus dual battery folding e-bikes which is a better bike.
