What hits me the hardest is the aftermath of Sirius's death. Harry expecting to see Sirius in the mirror, before smashing it; Harry running up to Nearly Headless Nick, hopeful of meeting Sirius's ghost; and then his breakdown in Dumbledore's office. That whole portion of the book always has me reaching for the tissues.

Another line from DH I love is this one:
    - Dumbledore: “Of course it is happening inside your head, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
Is like if Rowling herself is telling us that if we believe the series will be real for us.

Underrated crying moment for me is Hedwig’s death. Specifically, her death in the movies. The idea of her sacrificing herself to save Harry. She was such an underrated and yet important part of Harry’s upbringing and introduction to the magical world and I always cry so hard at her death. She was so innocent and the way that it was so fast and there was nothing Harry could do. Ugh chills

In a story where 5 of the 6 parental figures Harry has and about a dozen of his friends all die, Hedwig’s death felt so heavy handed to me. Both of the Creevy brothers, Dobby, and a twin die. Lupin AND Tonks die. Our hearts were already broken, but she had to kill his pet too? Hedwig was with Harry since his first day in the wizard world, she was his friend before Ron and Hermione, before he met Dumbledore, Lupin, or Sirius, and she was the only character who went back with him every summer and kept him company while the Dursleys ab*sed him. Killing her while she was trapped in her cage was cruel beyond reason and I have never forgiven the author for it. And of the character deaths in that book, hers made me cry the most.

    I need to add two:
    1) when Voldemort finally dies and everyone runs to hug Harry, the moment we always waited for and 7 books aimed to, Harry was finally the survivor
    2) when we see Molly's bogart, the amount of fear she was hiding from her family dying, added to the fact that it already happend to her with her brothers, the fact that she truly considers Harry as her own and he saw this in the most honest and potent way possible

I should also mention learning about Dumbledore’s past, which ended in his sister’s tragic death. That moment alone explains why Dumbledore is so protective of his students, and why he always refused offers to become the minister of magic, and it shows him in a different light. It made me realize that he’s a very tragic character.

Hagrid slowly breaking down throughout the entire thing since carrying the man who gave him shelter to his grave, all the magical races coming to the funeral to pay their respects, the entire school and ministry coming out to support, Hermione crying, and the gut-wrencher of Harry and Ginny having to painfully break up after embracing each other for mere weeks.

The one that always gets me is when Harry is trying to find a loophole after Sirius’ death, like when he looks in the two way mirror and then goes to look for Nearly headless Nick to ask if he could come back as a ghost. It’s that denial , refusal to believe someone really is gone and won’t ever come back, gets me everytime.

  • @Teacuperino
    @Teacuperino Рік тому +18

Here are some of my favorite moments (outside of the ones you mentioned)
My FAVORITE scene in the entire series is after Sirius died and Harry is taken to Dumbledore’s office. He’s feeling so much grief and when Dumbledore arrives and keeps reopening that wound, Harry snaps. He starts screaming at Dumbledore and destroying all of his possessions. It’s so cathartic because Harry has been so even-keel throughout the series, but it’s also just heart-wrenching to see Harry’s reaction. The following chapter that shows Harry coping with the loss is also gut-wrenching.
One scene I think goes wildly underappreciated is when Ron returns and destroys the locket. It’s one of the best Harry/Ron scenes and shows how much they care for each other. It’s another case of “break the cutie” as Ron is so upbeat that to see him at such a low point breaks us too.
Another moment that literally NO ONE talks about is when Lupin tries to join the gang in Book 7 and Harry refuses. Lupin loses his cool and they fight. It’s one of the rawest moments we see from Lupin.
I also get so weepy at Dumbledore’s funeral. Just seeing everyone’s reactions and how Harry feels after losing what feels like his final guardian. Good stuff.
One scene I didn’t really consider that impactful until I saw it in the film was Draco’s speech in the tower. Tom Felton is just perfection and plays all the emotion of a boy being forced to act against his will.
Also, Harry and Hermione in Godric’s Hollow. Woooooooof. It’s the Low Point of book 7 as Ron has left the crew and they’re basically pursuing dead ends. The war statue, the broken house, and his parents’ graves… what a moment. It’s the first time and I think only time we see Harry truly cry in the series, and wow is it impactful.
And there are so many more I could highlight. Everyone’s reactions to seeing Harry dead, Cedric’s death, Hedwig’s death, Harry yelling at his friends… oof no one can write pain like JK. Good stuff.

This video as a whole got my eyes welling up.
One moment that made me cry when I started rereading the series earlier this year was in Goblet of Fire: It's when after looking into the Pensieve, Harry and Dumbledore talk about Neville's parents.
That hit me so much because it's when you realise that Neville suffered just as much as Harry when you think about it. Both had lost their parents, one by murder, the other by having them be tortured into insanity and can never recognise their child. And thinking about what Neville could've had if his parents weren't tortured made me cry.

I never cried when reading these books but definitely the most emotional part for me was the part after your number 5, where Harry first walks towards the forest, and we see his thoughts. The final few chapters of Half-Blood Prince were heartbreaking. While there was always trouble our heroes were facing, they also always had Dumbledore, who could be relied on to always protect our heroes. Then suddenly, he’s unexpectedly gone, killed by a man he trusted, some of Snape’s colleagues were his former teachers. Seeing everyone’s shocked reactions and the hopelesness they all feel never fails to break me down.

He’s fought Voldemort in gobbler of fire and Cedric died right in front of him so he’s traumatised and he was neglected and almost gaslit into thinking that Cedric’s death was an accident. I'm a crier too, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I cry reading books, watching movies or TV shows, or even playing games. Everytime there is a sad moment I ball my eyes out. There was actually a time, a few years back where I watched an Anime, and something happened in it that made me cry for 3 days. Literally from I got up till I went to bed, I would cry thinking about that show. It was terrible, but now, thinking back, it's rather fun to remember.

The paragraph describing his feelings broke my heart into a million pieces. It was simply painful and devastating to read. The death of Dobby has always gotten me crying. Even today I have not been able to see that scene in movies, because it is so painful to me.
For me, more than Harry's reaction after Sirius's death, it was the reaction of him in Dumbledore's office that broke my heart. There when he wanted to open the office and run away, I really related to that feeling. The feeling of denial, of wanting to run away from this cruel reality, of having your heart and mind broken on losing someone close to your heart, that was so gut wrenching for me. It shows you that Harry has finally reached his limit. He was not able to take it anymore.
And today you made me cry by telling the story if you grandma and you reading to her soul aloud. It really was so touching.

Maybe having read the series at a pretty young age shielded me from seeing how truly sad some parts were. Also my mom read all the books to me except the seventh one when I was finally old enough to tackle a book like that on my own, so I never wanted to cry in front of her. But being the animal loving kid that I was, Hedwig's death was the only part that made me bawl. It was as sudden and as gut-wrenching as many of the other deaths were, especially the ones that happened in combat, but again, I was an animal lover, and Hedwig was truly innocent. She was such a faithful pet and so beloved by Harry and fans. I had to stop reading for a while after I knew they were gonna be ok and just take a break.

I never knew my farther, and, my mother wasn't the kindest person so, reading a series like this, where the main protagonist doesn't have parents, finds parental figures in other people just ment so much to me and, especially Sirius's death, it had me sobbing more times than I'd like to admit.

I'm really sorry about your grandmother, mine died a couple of years ago, so I know how it feels.
When Molly hugged Harry, it just made me so pissed off at the Dursleys, Petunia especially. She could've been a mother to Harry, given him presents, and spoiled him as much as Dudley. She could've put her petty jealousy/resentment of Lily aside to actually raise Harry. But instead, she, along with Vernon and Dudley, abused and treated Harry like he was a house-elf.

I'll mention one moment that has got to me emotionally over time, it was Harry producing the most powerful form of Patronus Charm, a Corporal Patronus, for the first time. All through the third book, Harry was struggling with the Dementors, they were causing him to pass out, overwhelming him with the horrors he had been forced to witness in his life.
He was frustrated with himself at the internal conflict he felt when he was being taught the Patronus Charm by Remus Lupin. He wanted to keep the Dementors at bay, but at the same time, he wanted to hear his parents voices again. After discovering the truth about Sirius, Wormtail, Remus and James, Harry found himself, Hermione and Sirius surrounded by hundreds of Dementors, unable to ward them off. Technically at the same time this was happening, due to him and Hermione using the Time Turner, Harry was watching this play out a second time. He realised that contrary to how he thought when surrounded by Dementors, that James had saved them, it was in fact he, Harry, who had saved them.
When he produced the Corporal Patronus, as a kid, you're happy because Harry finally succeeded in producing a Patronus, but as an adult, I've realised the symbolism is so much more emotional than that. The Dementors symbolise depression, very deep depression, but the Patronus counteracts this with bright happiness. It's Harry learning to overcome sadness in my view, that's what makes it emotional.
Another example from the same book, the scene where Hermione tearfully reconciles with Ron. She had infuriated and condescend to him most of the book, refusing to take him seriously with regards to his concerns about what Crookshanks was doing to Scabbers. When it appeared that Crookshanks had finally succeeded in eating the rat, Ron was a combination of livid and grief stricken. It led to them falling out for weeks, where Ron vocally expressed his frustration at her lack of empathy for his concerns and Hermione accused him of prejudice towards her cat. Eventually, after she had been told about Hagrid losing his case to clear Buckbeak's name, despite all the work she had put in to help him, she went to tell Harry and Ron about this, tears welling up in in her eyes. The trigger for the waterworks to really begin was Ron, seeing how frazzled she was, how much of an emotional wreck she was with all she was trying to do, that he offered his help, saying that she didn't have to do all the work alone. This seemed to click something into her brain, realising what she had been missing, threw her arms around Ron's neck and completely broke down in tears. Their friendship was repaired

Another tear shedding moment i should add from deathly hallows. when harry was in godric hollow for the first time and he was looking at his parents grave...
" But they were not living, thought Harry: They were gone. The empty words could not disguise the fact that his parents' moldering remains lay beneath snow and stone, indifferent, unknowing. And tears came before he could stop them, boiling hot then instantly freezing on his face, and what was the point in wiping them off or pretending? He let them fall, his lips pressed hard together, looking down at the thick snow hiding from his eyes the place where the last of Lily and James lay, bones now, surely, or dust, not knowing or caring that their living son stood so near, his heart still beating, alive because of their sacrifice and close to wishing, at this moment, that he was sleeping under the snow with them " 😭
It also came from JK rowling herself.

I didn't read the books because I'm dyslexic and have ADHD so I didn't read the books but here are my moments that made me cry and why they made me cry.
    1. Dobby's death - Dobby was the most loved character in Harry Potter and his final act was really brave, he was happy to be with his friends in his final resting place in the arms of Harry. It made me cry because I remember being in my Bomma's arms while watching this scene and a week later she passed away.
    2. Hagrid comforts Hermione - Hagrid is the most loving character ever, whether you're a human, spider or even a fly, he will love you for who you are. When Draco calls Hermione a mudblood it breaks Hermione's heart and Hagrid takes her by the hand and tells her "Don't you think on it for one minute" with the kindest looking smile you will ever see.
    3. Harry and Hermione dance - When they are under alot of stress they dance in a tent and its so heartwarming they just forget their worries, it's so relaxing and takes your mind off everything and Harry gives Hermione a shulder to lean on.
    4. Harry screaming after the death of Sirius - When Sirius dies it's like Harry is watching his father die again, Harry finally found a father figur in Sirius and he showed great care after Harry, When he died he was screaming and the reason he was screaming is because Daniel's actual grandmother died a couple days prior to shooting the scene and it brings me back memories of my Bomma
    5. Neville standing up to Voldemort - When Voldemort has allegedly killed Harry Potter, he has a speech but then Neville steps up and shows his bravery, Voldemort couldve killed him right then and there but he stood up to him and made Voldemort feel even less special
    6. Hagrid carrying Harry - When Harry is "dead" he is carrying Harry while he is chained up by the Deth Eters. It is probably heartbreaking for him because Hagrid basically treated Harry and his friends like children. He loved Harry and even cried when he dropped him off at the Dursley's on Privet Drive. Him carrying Harry thinking he is dead is absolutely heartbreaking
sorry if this is hard to reed, thank you for reeding :)
