Thanks for the all the help and the patience with the intricacies of the rules! This series was all shot as once so were learning lots right now! Some mistakes pointed out for others following along.
-Climbing up a wall is a 2 full circles and you still need movement to be able to move on the wall. So first turn the veteran guardsmen should not have been able to climb up.
-Genestealers have a special rule that they can't be targeted if they are concealed and in cover even if the shooter in on a vantage point.

The Bruiser's ability isn't to cancel a hit. It's to ignore some damage
And the Double Rending Claws get to keep another hit as a crit if they score a crit (which they did at 20:37)

To add onto that shooting from a vantage point - even if it wasn't a genestealer, vantage only lets you treat a guy behind light cover or another operative as on engage, and that guy was behind a piece of heavy terrain. Great to see you all covering Kill Team, hope it brings even more players over!
Not exactly rules, but those vet guard could have taken a lot more special weapons! A flamer and grenade gunner would have been deadly!

6:40 when you rolled to see who goes first, you actually are rolling to get to choose who goes first. She could've chosen to go second and not straight first. Little rule help, love your videos
From what I've seen, I think it's more of a house rule with Play On where the winner of the roll has no choice but to go first
@@RhantheSlayer Maybe they're conflating the rule with the 40k 9e rule change where the highest roller has to go first?
no new rules state if you win dice rolls you must go first, too many people were relying and building their armies around going 2nd.

At 36:50, the Guardsman wouldn't have been able to shoot at the Genestealer (even without the Genestealer special rule) since it was behind heavy cover while Vantage Points can only ignore light cover.
Love the video but here’s a little rules help, if all of Rebeca’s genestealers were in conceal Nick couldn’t have shot them while they were behind cover, they only get a free Defence die from cover if their behind cover and have the engage order. Just going to mention that I didn’t see the genestealers orders so they might have been in engage
Yes. It's also important to note that genestealers also ignore the vantage point rule that would normally ignore their conceal orders.
Great battle report as always! One thing to note, in the Set Up Operatives sequence, the Defeneder is also supposed to give their Operatives orders before the Attacker set up theirs :)

So Rebecca has won twice because her opponent both times focused on killing her team and not on the objective? Sounds like she is a better grasp on the game than everyone else on the team.
The game is called kill team so the kill team tries to kill team.
Or, and bear with me, this only happens against Rebecca

Well tbh, vet guard dice rolls were horrible this game, while She had very good and consistent hits while fighting melee.
Also why didn't he pick the extra 4 guardsman that in this mode would have been very useful?
He should have also taken the granade launcher-guy and the mine deploying operative instead of troopers in the starting roaster to have more effettive aoe dealers.

Basically he went full monkey in the team composition and got awful dice rolls.
He set himself up to losing this game from the start.
It's a treat whenever Tau Nick is playing!
Heads up, ap on that plasma gun doesn't affect the actual number on the armor, each ap is taking away a defense dice!!!! so for example a 2+ save vs ap3 doesn't get any saves because all 3 defense dice are gone
The genestealers have invulnerability save 5+ no? So APX should not matter, right?
Love the content noticed in turn 1 if the genesteelers are in cover and in concealment they cant be targeted to shoot even from vantage as per their ability
only for leader genestealers. I don't think the one attacked was a leader.
@@anishshirodkar484 no I’m pretty sure it’s an ability that comes on all genestealers, not just leader specific. It’s the Hidden Horror special rule they come with standard. Unless it was recently errata’d or FAQ’d and I’m just not aware of it.

KT has been the best intro to tabletop games in general, and I'm into it!
So love that you are getting into my favourite wargame. I did notice some errors/issues and hope im not coming across as too preachy or "actually", just wanting to help out.
1st: Mission specific, why are the 4 objectives that should already be on the board missing? there are 2 objectives by each of the scrap piles in the corners of the board in fuel run.
2nd, are you intentionally leaving out the fun rock/paper/scissor sutff at the start for extra dash etc.?
3rd, as others have already noted, the time point when engage/conceal tokens are placed during deployment was not correctly done.
4th. When the coms specialist relays the order map-wide, that costs him an AP. It's not free like nic used it.
5th. 1st genestaler vs brusier combat. couple of things here. Feed and the crit should have killed the dude with 7 damage, unless you are double claws in whcih case rending would have given you an extra crit. either way, stealer should have killed the bruiser. Also re bruiser, their ability cancels damage he takes from a hit. Might have made a difference in a different combat scenario.
6th. genestealers get a free dash each activation. They should be far more mobile than they were here.
7th, the 2genestealers vs the bruiser fight. While it didn't matter, the genestealer would have been hitting on 2's rather than 3's due to outnumbering the bruiser.
8th when nic charged his leader in, he siad it hit on 4's. was it wounded? because at base, veteran guard sergeant hits on 3's in melee an shooting. Later in combat he did this error again and also had his leader on 9 wounds somehow when they have 8 total.
I really like the idea of playing down the elite teams to make them more on level with fan favourites in the compendium very smart and a good way to encourage new players to join

I'm about to play my first Kill Team with never having played 40K, so I appreciate all the details with the text and quick explanation of abilities, but also not getting bogged down with them.

Hey Nick, don’t forget that your COM‘s operative can give an APL to another operative.
For the snipers first movement where he hopped up onto the vantage, he moved a little further than he should have.
You can only climb when you are within 1". For climbing it should have been 4 in up and at least 1in horizontally just to get on the vantage and you would have 1in to play around with on top.
You can combine them to complete a single movement in certain circumstances but in this case, it should have been a dash to get to the wall and movement to get up and on top of the wall
Glad someone else pointed it out. Easy reference, it costs a minimum of 5" to climb 3" terrain.
Rebecca when inserting that if they die they are still together is low-key savage

Rebecca has been such a treat and I'm quite impressed how much she's tearing it up as a newcomer to Kill Team. Does she have experience with other wargames to fall back on? If not then it's all the more impressive.

You shouldn't be shooting the genstealers in cover from above. They have a rule that negates vantage points so you can't see them.
You are correct. Rebecca missed that when she was building her army. Believe me. She knows now… :D

Just an FYI, the plasma rifle AP would automatically remove 1 of the defense dice if not overcharged, and the sniper hits on 2+ with 3 mortal wounds for every crit
Not from genestealers, they use Invulnerable saves that are unaffected by AP.

I love The narrator banter! Love thé thé editing love the game. You guys are amazing. Few small errors which is completely normal, the only thing I would comment on is when Nic starts the game, with 3 circle movement unless a unit is within triangle of the 2 circles penalty climb he cannot finish on top, he would have been completely fine if he started game with 1 cop and goes into the breach, the dash would have closed the distance

Months later I'm here to say what a game it woulda been with "Hidden Horror" being properly played for the Genestealers. IG woulda been sitting with their hands in their pockets for half the game.

when you deploy operatives you choose their order, conceal or engage, when they are deployed and for the first turning point that is the order they have. so a small mistake there
Just a rules note: when you deploy a model you select it's order then not after both sides have deployed their whole kill teams.
I was confused about that, because when I played the order was given when the unit activated.
@@benjaminloyd6056 every subsequent turning point you would be able to change the order when you activate the model so you are right about that.
Love this can’t wait for a season 2 with some new factions and eventually some mix up games as always
It seems the "Hidden Horror" ability of Genestealers is always ignored in these playthroughs. Is that intentional, and if so, why?
*Hidden Horror:* While this operative has a Conceal order, it is always treated as having a Conceal order, regardless of any other rules (e.g. Vantage Point).

Great vid! Love you guys playing kill team! Couple things, you said you aren’t using all the rules so I won’t do anything about scouting, but plasma has armor piercing, instead of making the save worse like in 40k, AP in kill team takes away dice. I know other people have said it but it’s VERY IMPORTANT!
I just remembered. Genestealers have a 5+ invuln. Carry on, but remember about AP in case you didn’t!

21:21 for the bruiser ability, its not exactly like that that it works. What it actually does is negate the damage of one normal hit die. But She could've not attack with that die and instead parry one of yours instead so that there is nothing to negate. Rule tip.

In the first round, you must use the "rock-paper-scissors" method.. no initiative roll!
they do not use every rule, yet. Barricades arent included yet so the rock-paper-scissor makes no sense to use here.
In matched play you bet! We’re playing open play though.
The "rock-paper-scissors" method is only for Spec Ops Narrative play, but yes if thats what they are trying to play

100%. There was at least one instance of that. I think the rest she was out of the cover though.

Plasma is at a minimum AP 1 reducing the number of defense dice by one. If you super charge it’s AP 2 and gains the Hot trait. So 1s do three mortal wounds to your unit that fired. Sorry if this was already stated. Love the series though.

Hi guys. Great battle rep so a few mistakes here and there with the rules and tactics but the one that I really have to point out was for the very first activation of the game.
The Vet guardsman could see the enemy operator on the very end of the line and could have used strafe pretty much on 70% of the whole enemy team as they were VERY nicely lined up for this 🤓
That probably would have changed the whole rest of the game as a lot of the enemy would be coming in already wounded
Nick and Rebecca made a 40K game very entertaining. Still not as familiar with the 40K rules they made me still feel like i knew what was going on. Keep up the amazing videos.
Well, to be fair, this is Kill Team. Entirely different rules from 40k. 40k is the version they normally play with the giant armies. Kill Team is small groups of individuals like you see here. Glad you are enjoying this fun hobby. :)

So I don’t know the rules specifically on Nick keeping a success for melee combat based on that strategem. It might specify when he has to keep the die, but if it doesn’t, it seems he is shooting himself in the foot each time he goes into melee. The odds of rolling a 4+ are higher with 3 dice than 2, so every time he keeps a success before rolling, his odds of rolling a success go down.
He’s more likely to get at least two successes if he rolls, then converts a failure to a success, than removing a die as a success, then rolling the rest.
I want to get into this game, but I’m a tad broke, so for now any assumptions I make are purely from a spectator point of view and can lack knowledge on the specifics of the rules at play.
That ability specifically says "you can retain one as a successful normal hit without rolling it". Generally, abilities in Kill Team usually have pretty specific timing.

Also, even if your in combat and defending, you can roll your full attacks, no need to be restricted abt defense dice

I see the undercut on the camera-side and the ... extension?.. on the dice-tray side, and have no idea what it is. Baffled here - thought it was a ceiling tile but the features I mention scuttle that guess. A little help? Thanks.

No. You can only use each Strategic or Tactical Ploy (other than Command re-roll) once; but you can use several different ones.

8:49 when Nick shoots his plasma he should have supercharged and did you guys apply the AP1 to Rebecca’s save throws?
Genestealers have an invulnerable save so they always get 3 defence dice at 5+. Because of this overcharging is useless against them. So, no he shouldn’t.
