- What's the best picture profile? Which picture profile should I use on a budget camera? For beginner video creators it can get overwhelming. In this video, I go over the different option and I compare specific picture profiles side-by-side.

Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great video, and you gave the perfect answer, because there is no answer. You just have to learn your gear, to get the most out of it. In order to get to your own personal sensibility, you have to do the work first. When I finally learned how to use slog2 in my Sony a6400, it was like I had bought an entirely new camera. It raised the level of my work immediately, and so I feel like I learned so much before that point, but once I committed to dive in and learn s log2, I was in a much better place with my filmmaking. Thanks so much for sharing, as always.
Super! Thank you very much for the information. It really helps.
Nice video, I use the neutral with everything turned down myself. Definitely easier to work with.
I'm late on this video but another great one. I'm going to play around with the profiles in my M50. Thanks for the inspiration here.
Thanks as always for the inspiration Joris 🙏🏻🤟
I love this video. This is my second time watching it. I am a m50 owner and still pretty new to this world. I want to learn how to color grade. I was told in the past that due to the m50 not having the ability to shoot flat, that would hinder coloring my videos. I love how you explained adjusting the neutral option and turning down the saturation and contrast. I also use DaVinci Resolve to edit my videos which as a coloring option. What advice would you give me to create the Teal filter effect or any filter effects?
Great video! Are you able to do a video on how to edit flat colour video profile footage in DaVinci resolve and luts for flat flat colour profiles
Thanks a lot, watched it without any skip, what about the picture profile for photography? next video, please

Awesome! Thanks.
Thanks for the information 😁
Hi what is this "*" in the setting ? Its not coming in my camera ..😮
Thanks for this, Joris! I have a question for a project I have coming up. Is there a good approach for matching profiles in different cameras from different manufacturers? For this project, we are just using the cameras we have, I have a Panasonic GH3, my cousin has an Olympus E-M5, and my sister has a Canon 80D. I realize we will also have the crop factors to work with, so any advice would be great on that. But mostly I'm curious about how to match colors either on camera or in the edit. Thank you!
There are plugins that do that for you. Don't know what editing software you use but I'm sure there are plugins available for PP, FCP and Davinci Resolve.
How to get that on canon camera
I myself have settled on faithful. Tweaked the contrast and saturation so that i dont have to mess around in post. However not sure on the sharpness. What would you suggest Joris for talking head videos? I generally keep it at 0.
Tricky question. I usually set the in-camera sharpening to 0 and I add some sharpening in post. I feel like it looks a bit better. If you do want to use In-camera sharpening I would keep at 3 or less when shooting in 1080.
@@JorisHermans Thank you!
I use the canon EOS RP set on neutral with all the settings to negative all the way down then edit in post as I see fit.
Recently bought the canon EOS RP for a beginner like myself and fits on my budget. In terms of color grading, do you have any suggestions on how to color grade or color correct the footage, most preferably in davinci resolve?
@@jazzhandzzz7 start off with adding a little contrast(no more then 11), light & shadows either add or subtract to your liking. Add a little vibrance(no more then 21) I normally keep saturation at 0 to +5. Very small changes to colors red, yellow, green, blue…etc This includes hue, saturation, and luminous. Use temperature to give it a warm or cooler feel. Use the curve to make very very small adjustments. In the end you just have to play around with all of these to figure out an edit you like. Remember you don’t have to post every video you make, it’s good to take short videos in different situations to practice your editing and come up with your own style. I personally don’t use the color wheel to much but again that’s a personal preference. Hope this helps you a little and just keep practicing and it will click and you’ll find your own style.
@@MihaiiPop This is great! Thanks for sharing your tips, I’ll definitely take your advice to good use
@@jazzhandzzz7 glad I could help.
