    I've done quite a bit of experimenting with these pictures profiles and agree that the neutral with +2 sharpness -4 contrast +1 saturation will give the most pleasing look the only difference is I feel the color tone has too much magenta for the skin tones so I put that to +1. Thanks for the vid!

      Thanks for adding to the conversation :) It's so valuable to test these things! Personally I've kinda shifted towards the landscape profile with a few tweaks that is :)

    So shooting in raw in video or photos it is not effect by the picture profile, so do u recommend shooting in Jpeg for videos ??

      Hi Albert, the M50 can take RAW photos but not RAW video. If you shoot in raw or c-raw (photo mode) then the picture style does not matter for postprocessing. If you shoot jpg (photos) then the picture style does matter. So if you do not intend to do any post processing on your photography, then by all means, tweak a picture style and use that.
      Now, for video it is a different story. To make it clear, the M50 cannot shoot RAW. Only high end cameras have that option but do not worry, you do not need RAW video as a beginner. Raw photos is however fine for a beginner. On the M50 I shoot in the standard 1080p resolution with a picture style with reduced contrast as I like the look.
      The big difference between RAW photo and jpg photos is that you have more information about color, sharpness, detail and you have full control of them when you process your images in a software like Lightroom. On top of that you can change the White Balance without degrading the image quality.
      As the M50 does not have RAW Video, you do need to set the White Balance correct before you start recording as fixing it in a software like Premiere Pro will degrade the quality of your colors.
      TLDR: Shoot RAW Photos is you like editing your photos.
      Shoot JPG Photos if you do not like to edit your photos
      The Picture Profile does not affect your Raw photos but do affect JPG photos and the Video.

      @@TheFtzen oh ok thank you so much man I asked multiple people and your the only one who gave me a solid answer , do you any luts on the m50 btw?

      @@albertbernal7434 Nope, I use the Canon Picture Profiles with minor tweaks to sharpness, contrast and saturation. I think I show my preferred settings in one of my videos on the this topic. I think I chose Landscape because of the color directions, and then decreased the contrast to get a better dynamic range and more control in postprocessing and then I cant remember if I increased or decreased sharpness.
      For photography I always edit so I shoot in c-Raw.
      And I'm glad I could help :)

    What about for pictures? What is the best picture profile?

    • @TheFtzen
      @TheFtzen  3 роки тому +3

      If you shoot Raw or C-Raw then it has absolutely no effect as in none. You can even shoot in monochrome (black and white) and still edit the fil RAW file with colors on your computer.
      The picture profiles only matters if you shoot in JPEG. The best Picture Profile for photo is RAW, but only if you intend to edit the photos on your computer. Otherwise I find Standard and Landscape to be the most pleasing in terms of color, contrast and sharpness.
      Also, RAW allows you to change the White Balance in post without any degradation to the colors.
      Oh and one more thing. The picture profile does affect the RAW photo when it's viewed on the camera itself. So if you intend to deliver a black and white photo, then you can actually view the photos in black and white on the camera BUT still be able to edit the colors if needed

      @@TheFtzen Yep, shooting in RAW makes the profiles unnecessary. But so many M50 owners shoot JPEGS, and those folks really should learn how to use and tweak them. 😎

    How can we load a neutral profile as a user defined profile?

    • @TheFtzen
      @TheFtzen  2 роки тому

      I don't think you can load a user defined profile, but the way to make your own Neutral profile with custom settings is to:
      1) Turn on your camera
      2) Press Menu
      3) Go to the Red menu (the camera icon)
      4) Go to page 4
      5) Select "Picture Style"
      6) Move all the way down to User Def. 1, 2 and 3
      7) Once you chosen your User Def number, press the INFO button or use the touch Screen and press INFO - Detail Set.
      8) At the top inside this menu you will see it says either: Auto, Fine Detail, Standard, Neutral, Portrait, Faithful, Landscape or Monochrome
      8.1) If you go into that you can choose which picture style you like, for example Neutral or Landscape which are the ones I use the most for video.
      9) Inside here you can also adjust Sharpness, contrast, saturation and color tone.
      You can also access a similar by using the Q-Menu :)
      I've copied this text to your other comment on the other video as they cover the same topic.
      I hope this answered your question :)
      Best regards, Claus
