    I'm sure you know by now but they make a wobbly socket that will fit in that area for the 4 bolts. Once they are loose, you can actually use a clear hose that will fit over the heads to remove those screws. Overall, I think this is a pretty straight forward job if you keep track of the fluid you take out. When you take the filter out, you can angle to filter slightly down an let the remaining liquid slowly drip in a pan. Nice job!

    I appreciate that I don’t have to take out my filter till 60,000 miles soon as I get 20,000 miles. I’m gonna put Amsoil transmission fluid and run it for 40,000 miles

    Those metal flakes were not sticking to the magnets so I would say they may have been done from the housing. Their housings are molded and when cleaned they may not have cleaned out the housing enough and the transmission fluid may have never been changed before. I like the side steps as it keeps the trash and rock salt blocked from hitting the sides of the truck.

      Yeah that could be. I should of tested to see if they were steel or aluminum! Erin voted on the steps too! Little legs haha.

    Double check, but if I remember correctly, the trans recall was only on the Chrysler transmission.

    You need to do swap out that thermostat valve in the trans line to a rexmax or ats bypass My 2500 went from 180 trans temp on a normal day drive not towing to 140 150 temps on a 90 degree day... transmission life saver....

      This Aisin doesn’t have the fail components of the 68RFE though when it gets hot. In a winter state I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving around with trans fluid that would take forever to heat up, if it ever heats up. If I tow heavy and I mean heavy, if I see the temps to hot I’ll definitely do it. But under or around 220 is perfect. In fact it needs to be little hot, like 175. I’m not sure 140’s healthy either. I think most swap it when the oem fails closed and you can’t get the fluid to flow up front to the front mount cooler. That’s when it really over heats and breaks the 68RFE.

    Always a good idea to measure what you take out and put the same back in when it’s NOT overfilled 😂

    should be running when checking flued level

      Correct. I saw that. Was low when cold but normal when hot so not a huge deal but I wonder if that’s why they overfill them and people even need a recall done for over filled and Ram says it’s a fire hazard

    So could you just remove the three nuts to the trans mount and lift the back of the transmission just enough to give you clearance for a 1/4" drive wobbley socket??

    • @shoreline8686
      @shoreline8686 4 місяці тому +1

      Answering my own question... Just finished and YES just grab a 16mm Socket undue the 3 trans mount nuts lift the back of the transmission about an inch or so grab the 1/4" drive wobbly and your good to go.

      Yeap, if you want to see what your undoing go to rock auto look up your trans mount you can see exactly how the mount is configured . I just wanted to be sure I wasn't loosening up & removing a BOLT & nut. If your lying on your back & you can talk someone into it, have them on the other side of truck to help R&R the pan bolts & hold the pan up there. Easy!

    3500 6.7's Cab and chassis come standard with the Aisin.

      Makes sense. Idk why the 68RFE is even an option for a 3500!

    WOBBLE SOCKET!!! 1/4”

    • @neckofthewoods24
      @neckofthewoods24  3 місяці тому +1

      Idk if that’d fit either. I should of used a short socket to the skinny shaft of the 1/4” would of fit. At least I saw someone else try that.

    Jesus man, at what point do you stop and wonder if you’re doing something wrong. Even a cursory search of other filter change videos would show how to drop that pan without taking the truck apart. I can’t tell if you’re going for an ironic angle because the whole time you’re talking shit about people not paying attention to instructions/detail and yet…this.

      You realize manufacturers have special tools for a reason right? And there’s more than 1 way to skin a cat. Jesus man just think.
