- It's always the days when you don't expect to catch fish that turn out to be the best days. My dad and I had a great day fly fishing for coho salmon early in the season this year when the sun is still shining bright and water is low.

We love you and yours and thank you all and rod he’s the man is love to meet you, rod and kitty kahnoff
You are so fortunate to have such great-looking and productive waters!
Nothing is more fun than a Coho on the fly .. Kudos.
Hi Linda, I've seen you fish with Rod before and didn't know you had your own channel. That was an excellent video of transmission quality on national channels. Hope to see you on the water in October.
Awesome video Linda of you & your Father , my brothers & I use to fish for Coho up at Elk creek near Lake Erie in the mid 70’s . Brings back some wonderful memories, however now the fisheries there are more lake run trout now vs the Cohos & shinook salmon . Be safe & get the net 👍😘🎣⚾️
What you and your dad have fishing is so special. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching. 😊
The water was so clear!! Just crystal gorgeousness
Oh thank you for calling the fish kidney a kidney, I am so tired of videos whose host call it the blood line or mud line.
Love the overhead shots of the school. Dream fishing for sure.👍🏻
Hey Linda, you gotta take me fly fishing for Co Ho 👍
A wonderful day for you and your Dad. I have found that carrying a tea spoon makes life easy when removing that bloody line.
I like your narrations. Reminds me of old Disney documentaries about nature.
Thank you! I'm glad people are liking it. 😊
Wonderul video Linda 😊 nothing better than daddy daughter time sprinkled with fish. My daughter isnt so much into fishing but loves to herp while I fish.
Sounds familiar, daughter is a fishing addict but we always seem to track down snakes, etc. before we leave...
You should have way more subscribers. What a video!
Hey Linda much luv and respect to you and your father for raising you right,I wish I could have an opportunity to meet you and fish with you me and my wife would love it she just doesn’t realize it yet lol
Nice Fishing! Love the scenic views.
Thank you! BC is beauiful, we are very lucky to be here.
I sub'd. I like the way you narrate! Haven't seen a video like this in awhile!
Awesome, thank you!
AWESOME! only fished with my dad one time but it was a great day!
The best!
New sub. Been seeing you in some of Rods videos. Great job and although I’m in Ontario I still learn a lot from you west coasters!
Thank you! I'll be doing more videos with Rod, and here too. 😊
What a wholesome video!
I'm amazed you got this stretch of water to yourselves.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Reminds me of salmon/steelhead fishing back in the 1980s.
Cool. Nothing like sharing the same passion and moments together.
I like the narration, great vid. Good luck on the channel!
Much appreciated!
I love the video. You have a great relationship with your father, well done.
Thank you so much!
well done Linda you and your dad look like you're enjoying yourselves...cheers
Come fish central coast you’ll have a blast
Awesome. We are heading out next weekends too. Will be the first time for our family for Coho. From Alberta.
Have a great trip! 😊
Great video! I feel bad about your 40 min hike back carrying all those fish though! I bought a big laundry carrying backpack to carry fish out of remote areas.
It’s okay, I need the arm strength. Haha, who needs the gym when you can rep coho on your travels home.
Before my daughter moved to Oromocto we fished a lot in eastern Manitoba. Was on Vancouver Island for a couple weeks last month and caught the every end of the spawning season. That was very interesting. Spawning is well over whenever we visited the island in the past.
You are very lucky being able to fish where you are not stacked up shoulder to shoulder with others. Count your blessings.
It's the result of considerable effort, a long, sometimes difficult hike and then a lot of wading. Most people are unwilling to make the effort.
Great day fishing for sure. I find it curious your silvers are about half the size of ours down here on the Columbia. Well get a handful of 4lb fish but they're generally about 8-9 lbs. Even caught a few over 12.
Yes, the hatchery ones in this system are generally 4-6 lbs, the wild ones I have caught to 10 lbs or larger, but they're less common. There is another river system nearby where the fish seem to be larger, 8-9 lbs like you said, even the hatchery ones. Still not sure why that is.
Good to hear. Awesome video.
Thanks!
Hello Linda, thank you for sharing the video, very enjoyed it! I plan to take my two kids to fishing at a quiet place like this. Do you mind sharing the fishing place like this? Thank you😊
Lol. If she shares the location it won’t be a quiet place anymore. Half the fun is the adventure of finding those “shangri la” spots yourself.
Great video of cleaning fish
Thanks! 😊
Awesome video! Time for some fall chinook!
great video i just found your channel today i tried to get on a coho on the fly rod here in oregon but didnt have any luck and season ended yesterday
Thank you! Come on up one day, we have good coho salmon fishing until late November. 😊
@@LifeOfLindaLee what part of Washington?
We are in BC Canada.
oh i dont have a passport id have to get one maybe one day@@LifeOfLindaLee
the third one is so aggressive, he just charged towards you. Good catch
Thanks!
Great spot and a great day!
Thanks 👍
❤Would love to catch one!
You are incredibly blessed. Fishing for salmon, with dad, no one out there but you two. I live in Okanagan Valley and the fishing is TERRIBLE out here. That looks like so much fun. The only thing I have to ask what/where is the river or stream you are fishing in?
8:48 “want an egg?” ahahaha
😉
Awesome!!! I need to fish salmon someday and this stream looks beautiful. Also you look kinda like Taylor swift
Thanks! 😉
that is some good fihing, you look like the taylor swift of fishing.
Thanks! 😊
I’ve assumed that they stop biting when they get to fresh water. Wonder what makes them take the flies? Predatory behaviour? Dad looks like he has some fine fishing years up his sleeve. Once I figure my spin rods I’ll move to be like a fly man like him someday
They stop eating** when they step into fresh water. Actually, they stop eating as they stage around the bay to come in.
I've caught many salmon out on the bay that already shrunk their stomach.
As for the river, coho are extremely aggressive, and usually will bite, chase, and attack lures. Far more often than king salmon.
The same can be said about king salmon as well, they do indeed bite as well, but even more rare and less often than coho. I've caught plenty of king salmon floating skien.
Usually just aggressive behavior that leads them to attack the fly
Fish eat a variety of food like small crustaceans, smqll fish, and insects. Most fish species are carnivorous, and they go to fresh water to spawn as all salmon do, but they still require energy to fuel their journey to their spawning grounds.
@@soul_vision_arts negative. Salmon don’t eat once in freshwater. A Spring Salmon that spawns 500 miles from the ocean and enters the river in March, doesn’t eat until it dies after spawning in September. They do bite though. Nobody knows for certain why they do. I’m just glad they do.
Everyone has their theory, mine is that Pacific Salmon strike flies and lures, out of pure gonadal fury at 'their' territory being invaded. If the offering is salmon eggs, since they are in spawn phase, they instinctively try to destroy the competition's eggs.
I have just come out of the bi-annual Pink salmon run, and am beginning to target the Coho. Next will be the Chum run, out on the Olympic Peninsula.
I use spinning, bait casting, and fly-fishing equipment, and largely tie my own terminal tackle. However, I prefer twitching jigs in my home waters, since the Skagit is fast, rocky, and full of wood. Float and jigs is a good option if you can find relatively low flow eddies, where the salmon tend to hold and rest in these back eddies, while ascending.
Can I reel it when you catch one?
🤣
😂
😏
Nice video. What river is it ?
Now, a little lemon pepper, garlic powder and some butter wrapped in foil and cooked on a charcoal grill and you will be eating MANA, food from the Heavens ! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FOR THE GRILL ! 🥰🥰😋😋😋
Yummy! 😋
Great video! The water and fish were beautiful! Do you smoke them or can them?
Smoke!
Don’t you just love Linda Lee?
I just watched it in hopes that The Coho People might bought Dave some new wading boots!
Never! We will wear Walmart runners until we slip and die! 😤
@@LifeOfLindaLee Well, if the Coho People were to ever give you guys new Wading Boots, its a given they would be Simms, or Patagonia for those awesome Slow Mo close up action walking thru the stream Go Pro boots shots filmed in 60 -120FPS . 🙃
@@miked.r.6671 that’s it, I’m going barefoot from now on 😜.
You might be confusing The Coho People with The Village People! I was telling your dad about the pack of wolves I seen right infront of me while drifting out of a channel after a day of Coho fishing/slaying once. Rumour has it that the wolves took out The Village People right after their 3rd album! Im quite confident that your dads trail cam will pick up something sooner or later to confirm this. @@LifeOfLindaLee
Looks fun. Have you tried the different streamers from all over? Anyways have fun!
I know its asking a lot, would your Dad be interested in doing a fly tying video?. Id love to try that fly here in Ohio. You learned well, your form and knowledge are fantastic.
And the drone footage is really first class. Your channel is going to be huge. You have great narration the videos is top notch.
Now I have to tell Rod he's got competition 😂😂 actually, I can't wait to get out that way and fish my friend in Kamloops. So im studying before I come out.
Thanks again for some wonderful lessons and impeccable content.
Maybe I’ll have a tying video out soon 😉
@@LifeOfLindaLeesorry for late reply, crazy work week. One reason why wetting a few fies is so therapeutic. I'll be watching for that video! And if takes a while that's great, I don't mind the fishing at all!.
Looks like you two had a great day .Do you use sink tips?
Yes!
What an amazing day you guys had.
Obviously you enjoy fly fishing, but for still water like this, is it the only option?
Could you do lures or a floating egg or would lures just snag in the school or a floating egg just get ignored?
Fly is probably the best option when it's shallow and clear, won't spook the fish as easily. 😊
Well that looks like a blast! What size fly rod are you using?
8w
Is this in the pnw?
Yes it is!
PSW if you're Canadian lol
Didn't I just see you with Rod on his channel?
No that was Taylor swift.
@@LifeOfLindaLee😂

Where’s that, Vancouver island?

An Atlantic Salmon is what a salmon should look like. I have my own Atlantic Salmon fly
Love the moment you shared with us!
You're welcome. More to come!
It’s nothing truer then the first line of the start of the video
Taylor swift* fishing with her dad

Where is that spot located?
"any questions will be answered in the comments"
Where is the exact location you're fishing?
"...NO NOT THAT"

I am!!! Stay tuned.
What river
You look like Taylor Swift!

10% of the salmon Fisher's catch 90% of the fish. 5 years in , 10k in gear and 160 hrs plus a season. Nothing. Nothing for me
Come meet me if you are truly dedicated to learning and respecting catching fish
That’s hot. A woman that not only will fish but clean them also
🙋♀️
With all due respect, you have to be more cognizant of the videos that you show especially for other people. You are hurting the fisheries when you show drone footage. I also know that you've been hiding negative comments because I know a lot of the people that fish that system and we've been discussing it and I know people have left negative comments. I was there on Sunday and there were 40 people in one of the spots below where you're fishing and a spot that you're efficient. There were 20. I just would like you to read this comment and to understand what you are doing. I'm not against you. Filming it is good to see a female figure that is strong and has a good cast and is a good fisherman fishing and posting videos. Just be more mindful on how you go by posting them please
Eric, I'm going to respond to this for Linda, only because it was done so in a respectful manner. There certainly is plenty of validity to your comments regarding location disclosure. I disagree with the point that the traffic seen two weekends ago was solely due to the photo Linda posted. Prior to that weekend, there had already been plenty of chattering among guides and locals. Linda so far has done her due diligence by focusing on the artistic aspect of her content and not disclosing any information on the locations. Trust me, this isn't taken lightly by both of us and anything gets published is discussed repeatedly and after over two decades in this business, I'd say I am quite mindful of the subject. The "negative" comments are deleted not because Linda doesn't like them, but those are the ones that are drawing more attention to the spot, not the video. Those who know where it is, know where it is. Those who don't, would have a hard time to figure it out. What would actually make people more curious, is by bringing this up again and again as if there is something to hide. Realistically, like anywhere else, it's only productive under certain conditions and majority of the anglers would not invest the time to figure that out. Lastly, river systems like this in fact need more anglers to advocate to make the fishery better. Just two days ago I was in a phone meeting on what modifications this river needs so there could be better opportunities for anglers. The problem in the Lower Mainland is that we solely rely on a couple of salmon fisheries due to lack of planning in the past few decades. It could be a lot better. Those who focus so much on worrying about what others may find out should invest the time and energy to accomplish the goals I just laid out. What I also don't want to see, is the constant borderline online bullying (not you) by male anglers on a young female angler who has a lot of potential to bring goods into this community. Cheers, Rod
Good response and suggestions
@@FishingwithRod I'm still wrapping my head around why your responding, not Linda... Unless you have something to gain from her success?
@@ericwally6827Everyone strives and struggles on different things in life. Perhaps she could be having a hard time with online communication and chose to have me assist her on this subject? As for what do I gain from this, I really don’t need to explain that to anybody, so will let you wrap your head around that. In the meantime, you’re welcome to discuss the topic being brought up and I am happy to address more concerns. One thing I do know though, this publicized discussion is generating more curiosity on where she was fishing than the video itself. 😉 Cheers, Rod
