    I will buy it if it doesn’t do the following:
    Have sensors that send false low-ink notices
    Adds colored ink into black and white imaging
    Breaks down and dies within the first month of use
    Has unreasonably small amounts of ink
    Costs an arm and a leg to refill
    And doesn’t disable when 1 color is out of ink.

      You're missing the point. Refilling this printer is ridiculously cheap, and you just ADD ink to the reservoir instead of REPLACING a cartridge, so even if you get a "false" low-ink notice, it's a snap to just add more ink.

      And they can't just jack up the prices because people could just refill with third party ink.
      And here the printer costs between 180 and 250 €.

    This is possibly the best printer I've owned, it does what it says and the ink hasn't yet run dry. I used to have a Kodak printer and I struggled for many years with it, up until this came along. I have the ecoTank model.

    I got an ET 16500 based on reviews like this. The reason it doesn't run out of ink is because the quality is so bad that you have to use a different printer to actually print a document or photo. It is cheap, cheap, cheap. Amazingly cheap. Sounds like it will fall apart every time it prints a document. After exasperating the tech department trying to get it to work, Epson has finally agreed to replace my printer with a rebuilt one so I will be without it for a while. I won't miss it but I do miss my $1000. I could have bought a lot of ink with that $1000.

      +Tornected Exactly what I have done. I quit buying ink when I went to buy new ink cartridges and found out the new cartridges cost more than the printer...not by a few bucks, but twice the price of buying 2 new printers.
      I have a Brother HL-1440, toner cartridges last forever. You can buy toner refill bottles for about $10, and print for another year or more.

      The "intro cartridge" that comes with most laser printers is not good for many pages. The regular and extended life cartridges can be refilled with toner about 3 times before the drum goes bad.

  • @cl00bie

    What I did was buy refillable clear cartridges with 4 huge bottles of ink for my $65 Epson printer for $50. Now I use a syringe to fill up the clear cartridges with a chip that automatically resets at 10%. I have refilled the cartridges dozens of times, and the only two problems I've had is that the cartridges are finicky, and if you don't click them in right you get detection issues.
    You still get the "you are using non-Epson cartridges, do you want to continue?" [Ok] "You will void your warranty. do you want to continue?" [Ok]. "The ink quality will be poorer. do you want to continue?" [Ok]. Then after a couple if driver updates they started slowing down the printer and messing with me so I uninstalled the driver, reinstalled the original and turned off automatic update.
    Everything has been working fine!

    I have the Epson et-2550 and my nozzles are already blocked. I have this printer since July 2017 and I've printed 814 pages, but the company where I bought it says I don't print enough, Yes it's nice that the ink doesn't run out as fast as cartridges, but this is my second Epson printer in two years (before the Epson et-2500). It breaks before you can even buy new ink. I still recommend Epson, but please don't buy an ecotank, it isn't that good that it sounds. Always ink everywhere and blocked nozzles.
    I'm now trying some youtube video about how to clean the nozzles and while typing, The nozzles are being cleaned by a paper towel under it. I hope this works because im done spending 300 dollars everytime for a new printer.

Is for them to include a warning that a full color print must be done every X days to avoid destroying the printer in low use situations... Because I paid $350 to print out 10 sheets of paper the first year and then the printer dried out and broke.. With no information from Epson at all on how to manually clean the printer when the purge option isn't enough.

    Brother is much more cheaper, Canon made some competitors in this field and finally Epson dropped the prices. Very similar model cost now only something about ~250$ and there is plenty of occasions to buy it cheaper, for example you can now refund up to 60$! if you buy it until October 31. There is more thing happening with this original CISS enabled ink printers. First, there is no any chip or electronics to restrict any use of any brand ink you like. You can use any kerosene if you dear. Second, device will never (for good or bad) show you any messages ink related. System is tuned by manufacturer to maintain all system in good shape and be "healthy" to make good prints. You don't care about bubbles, tank levels, any misses and etc. etc. You can easily purge, refill, change ink just using driver or functions in device menu. Original ink bottles costs 10-15-20 times less, than similar model based on cartridges. Chinese cartridges and CISS can be cheaper but with very various results. It can be happy or not so happy ending. It's depends how well you know this "kitchen", and how qualified you are. So, if you really well self aware user and have some skills on what system to put, what ink to pour, and how maintain it in good shape, then you can buy cheap model based on cartridges and modify it. But if you want to print cheap, and be free from any problems related to quality, colors and stability, please really consider to buy similar device, with build continues ink system from the start. Prices are dropping, and now you can have brand new MFP CISS enabled device for just only 130-150$. And if you so Scrooge about ink prices, you can buy and use any ink you find that suits you. Of course in this scenario have in mind, that you may void warranty.

    What is the difference with this and a printer with a CIS system........ Wow Epson so revolutionary. My Epson printer $200, my CIS system $40 prefilled . 6 extra bottles of 100ml ink $15

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 8 років тому +1

      +Justin Wong The CIS system is better, and the Epson Ecotank printers print so slow you'll get frustrated and throw it through a window far sooner than it runs out of ink...the Ecotank printers also DO NOT handle photo printing.

    • @cedricmahendra5499

      +William Todd (williamtodd) I feel ya. That's why I'm risking on a HP OJx Pro x476/576 with a CIS system. The printer today is on discount and so is the ciss system, total cost $600-700, but with that blazing fast 40ppm and F4-duplex. I can't complain, until it fails of course, hence the risk.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 8 років тому +1

      Cedric Mahendra I'm really thinking about buying the CIS for my HP Photosmart printer, tired of spending money on ink every month...and of course nobody in town carries the cartridges so I have to drive 30 miles to get them, so unless I have something else to do the already expensive ink cartridges cost another $20 for gas I have to use to drive that 60 mile round trip...time for a CIS for sure for me.

    • @cedricmahendra5499
      @cedricmahendra5499 8 років тому +2

      We'll do your research according to your printer, HP is a good start and since it's photosmart ink is easier to find.
      Just search for "bulk ink" and a ciss system according to your printer model and you're almost gold.

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 8 років тому +1

      Cedric Mahendra The CIS for my printer is $50 :). That's about 1/2 of what a new set of ink cartridges cost...throw in the fact that factory ink cartridges are about 1/2 full when new if you are lucky, and their "XL" cartridges are only 5/8 to 3/4 full yet they charge premium prices for them :(....and its not just HP they all do it.

    Also.. you forgot to mention.. All of the standard Epson printers will have print heads going bad. This is a result of using refillable ink cartridges faked by others. Epson requires the Epson ink cartridge real true brand

    Hp printers with instant ink are the cheapest way to print. Epson is wasting their time. CISS have been around for years. Instant ink serves as an actual replacement that won punish you for printing more than the standard 10% page coverage.

    Forget this! Buy a Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) for 25.00-50.00 depending on your printer model - and you have the same thing. AND the CISS normally already comes with an extra set of bottles of ink!
    Google CISS
    Lets do the math - buy the normal Epson printer and buy a CISS ink system for it for around 25.00-50.00! Total - is around 100.00 and you have the SAME kind of system - AND have complete refill bottles to keep the system going twice as long without a need to output more money.
    Buy Epson's new "copycat" system for 400.00 initial outlay, and then you have to buy more ink when your tanks run dry.
    Hmmmm....
    Epson has been getting panicky b/c the CISSs have been taking over the market and exposing Epson's (and all other printer company) rip off policies from making money by overcharging on ink. So now Epson gets on board with their own version of a CISS - and still keep charging more money.

    Sorry Epson EcoTank but we Russian Military during the Cold War develop that idea "FIRST" by using a safety float valve on the inkjet printer heads and has a simple hardwired servo-mechanical tungsten valve controlled by a simple analog transistorized circuit that only releases ink once it starts printing, and it is connected by a silicone pipe to a silicone plastic-rubber tank filled with ink which is filled with new ink once it is 1/3rd to 1/4th empty. They said necessity is the mother of all invention but in our case MILITARY PARANOIA IS THE GREATEST MOTHERING MOTIVATOR AND INCENTIVIZER TO CREATIVITY OF ALL NEW SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGHS AND INVENTIONS AND INNOVATIONS.
