1000 pages with Ecotank should be $12. It is obviously a mistake in the video where it is written as $120. Obvious because the cost for 3000 pages is correct.
However, there are better Canon printers with four or five separate inks that you could use for comparison that are more economical on ink, because with the one illustrated on the video, if one colour of the three in the combined colour cartridge runs out, you will need a replacement as, I suspect, it will stop printing even if only one colour has run out. Correct me if I’m wrong. I had a Pixma 7750 for six years and changed to an Epson 8500 six tank photo printer last Summer. The Epson costs a fraction to run and the printing is superb. Wish I had changed earlier.
One thing to note is that the initial print run for a new Ecotank will be for less prints than advertised by about 20%. This is due to the amount of ink needed to prime and fill all the ink pipes leading to the print head. This is only done once, so from then on it will not need re-priming.

One more thing. The Canon Pixma spent a lot of time whirring and clicking before printing and also purged itself after only around two minutes idle between print jobs, wasting ink every time while you are just preparing another print job. The Epson gives far more time before preparing to shut down, so saving even more ink when finding multiple documents or photos to print.

Thank you. I just got the Epson Ecotank 3850 because my old Epson was expensive with cartridges as I am printing one color document (a gospel tract) over and over. I have printed about 800 copies of this document so far and the magenta is already getting down to about 20%. I am wondering how often I need to print to keep the print heads from clogging? You said once a week?
