    Do you get extractions?

    • @sydeem
      @sydeem 5 років тому +2

      Olena Beley Yes! I’ve been told that if black heads aren’t extracted they will sit there... until they are. I guess that’s a good line for the consumer lol.

      @@sydeem Haha definitely an amazing line!! A good consistent skincare routine can eliminate blackheads and the need for extractions... :)

      Is it possible that your pores are clogged beyond your routine ! Like would it be smart to get the extractions to unclog your pores and the correct routine will maintain that.... because I use an aha and I’ve tried bah and I still have clogged pores and blackheads. Ps I use all your methods for like 3 years now I’m a huge fan and so is my skin but the blackheads are just so.stubborn

    I just discovered your channel - Wish I had known about it sooner. Everything you say resonates good common sense. I have always had really good skin, but I tend to lean too closely to the mirror, obsessing over little things, which is definitely unhealthy behaviour. I also tend to pick at my skin, at imagined spots, and end up with wounds, another anxious behaviour... which has happened recently, and am now dealing with the aftermath. I will now try to think twice before damaging my skin, and let it do its own thing, and deal with my anxiety differently. *sigh* Thank you for the content

    A decade?? You look 20 years old currently ♡ Question: Does your diet video still apply to your diet today? Something in my brain can’t get past that if my diet isn’t great, my skin won’t be either. I cleanse with bioderma, tone with witch hazel, moisture with bioderma. I’m hearing that “actives” may be what I’m needing/missing. Love you Olena!

      Its better not to use witch hazel , its drying

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  5 років тому +2

      Lol yup, a decade without facials! Time sure flies when you're having fun! ♡
      My diet update video applies today, yes. I still eat in a super balanced way, including what some might consider regular indulgences!
      I've learned to trust and listen to my body, instead of forcing some story (must be a perfect eater or else I'm not good enough or my skin will suffer). When I'm happy and feeling good, I tend to make great choices (even if the choice is a key lime pie).
      I would not use witch hazel if I were you, and yes, you're likely missing a couple key actives to really help your skin out.
      Love,
      Olena

    What are your thoughts on an esthetician who has bad skin? Also had one recommend a moisturizer that was like $180 CAD that had a bunch of oil in it, afterI told her my skin doesn't do well with oil and breaks me out. Oy. Seriously, there are shady AF ones out there.

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  Рік тому

      I see it as a red flag 🚩. When your job is to know how to care for the skin, it means you have to be able to create results for yourself too. But incompetence is rampant in every single field because to be great at something requires tons of time, effort, self-awareness, etc.

  • @simone2316
    @simone2316 5 років тому +10

    Hi Olena! Thank you for making this video. I am an esthetician and I have commented on one of your previous videos.
    Goddamit, you are so right about what you said, and although it might sound like I am sabotaging myself and my profession, I can totally agree with what you are saying.
    While I still believe that open comedones should be extracted every once in a while, that is surely not the case with closed comedones or full-blown pustular acne like the short video you showed.
    I have so much to say about the way she's attacking that massive bump and it made me cringe and shiver.
    Just wanted to slap her hand is all -.-
    Being someone who has been misled countless times in the past, unfortunately, I can confirm that there really are people out there that have some "knowledge" on how the skin functions but that knowledge is wrong beyond repair.
    And it is so sad that there are people who consider being an esthetician is a simple job to do and get paid rather than aiming to provide their clients with high-quality skincare products and give an insight of a good skincare routine.
    Why is this like this? How does this product work? What should I expect? When should I expect it? How will these ingredients help my condition?
    This and much more is something people shouldn't be afraid of asking, especially when someone is trying to sell something that is expensive and kinda sounds suspicious.
    Keep up the good work!

      Hi Simona! Yes, I remember you as the super open-minded aesthetician -- so a GEM! :)
      You're amazing for not taking anything I say personally, and looking at the big picture. Thank you so much!
      Yes, the consumer has to understand that very few people actually know what they're doing...so asking questions like the ones you mentioned is helpful! :)
      I also agree regarding a lot of people doing the job not necessarily out of passion...Many books they learn from are outdated or plain mistaken, so it's up to the professional to stay on top of new research, methods, information. But this is true for pretty much any industry. To find someone truly masterful, I think they also have to have a huge passion for what they do and continually educate themselves.
      Thanks again for sharing your perspective and adding to the convo! You're awesome!
      Love,
      Olena

    Of course I see this video AFTER I go to get my first facial 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have a question though... I watched your video about purging and breakouts, and I’m in a stage where I’m “purging” I think from the products the esthetician recommended.... while they do have actives, I’m worried that it’s causing me to breakout and not purge now after watching this video... help!!!

      @OlenaBeley  5 років тому +2

      Thank you for watching! I don't think sweat causes acne -- it's just water and sodium! It's likely the rest of your routine contributing to the clogging :)

    Olena, you are amazing as always. Do u think that hyoaloronic acid products are safe for eczema prone skin? I’vr been searching lately for some serum to apply as a humectant in my 3 step moisture method, but unable to find something with no perfume and alcohol and oils ! & what about exfoliation? As I have sensitive skin, I don’t think there’s any chemical exfoliation which will suit me! & I don’t prefer physical ones. So basically I don’t exfoliate my skin, I just cleanse it & moisturize it bcz I’m still finding the best products for the 3 steps moisture method. I will start using your suggestion of Bioderma sensibio pink cleanser & also the light moisturizer of the same brand. But can you suggest any good serums for sensitive skin?! Your opinion matters !

    SO SO disappointed! Found you on UA-cam, LOVED your info and insight. Went to your Instagram and was blown away by your RR clients transformations! So I thought, i need to do this too. I clicked on the link...almost $1200!!!! (Canadian) That is a mortgage payment. Completely unaffordable. I'm actually shocked by how much you charge. Apparently only the wealthy deserve nice skin.

      Hi there,
      I really appreciate you sharing your perspective and can totally understand where you're coming from -- I'm sure you're echoing a thought that other people might also be having.
      But let me share my perspective, and what is happening behind the scenes -- things you might not be aware of..
      I create a ton of free content online (IG Live 1-3 hour videos almost daily for over a YEAR, articles, videos).
      My amazing free content has cured people's most severe cases of acne and rosacea, has gotten people into happy relationships, even engaged to their dream partners, creating their dream careers.
      I spent years providing all this amazing (well-researched) content before ever making a single dollar, and I will continue to because I'm passionate about everyone getting amazing skin and living their dream lives.
      However, I would not be able to create all this free content and stay on top of the latest research IF I lived under a bridge, right?
      My time and expertise are valuable as you can appreciate from seeing all the amazing client transformations and feedback.
      Dedicated individuals who have studied my work have gotten similar results though - they invested their time, put in the work, and experienced their own healing. You too could certainly take on that approach instead of complaining about my pricing. :)
      Regarding my pricing:
      I only created the Routine Review service because multiple people reached out asking for it.
      I started this service last year by charging 97$. I would spend 3-4 hours per client (pre call, during call, post call) for 97$ with 3-5 clients a day.
      Exhausted Olena didn’t create any YT videos nor wrote any articles - but I still went on Live almost every day for hours answering questions and sharing my knowledge.
      The service started to blow up given the awesome transformations, so I had to raise my prices because I was running out of time in my day to do anything else.
      I first raised them to 130$, then 160ish, then 200 something, and so on until the package was 444$ (I believe January 2019) where I provided options with more support (more of my time).
      The more the prices went up, the more people purchased the service - so the more people I was able to help. But I still had no time to create my free content which was weighing heavily on me.
      Then one fateful day I had a client who asked to pay double to see me sooner (because at that point there was a two month wait time).
      On our call she told me that my service was worth far more than 444$ and that she was willing to pay 3-5k for a Routine Review with me.
      I knew that I was undervaluing myself, and I was getting burned out with the demand so I finally raised the prices to roughly what they are today and then my service got sold-out and there's now a waitlist growing.
      I can charge far more than I’m charging even now (and prices will double and then double again in the near future) given the quality of information and results I provide, and the amount of time, money, and heartache I save people.
      I have clients that have spent tens of thousands of dollars on useless skincare creating all kinds of damage...after working with me they're relieved to not have to waste money on skin related things EVER AGAIN - no more expensive procedures. That’s pretty epic.
      Unlike other acne coaches, aestheticians, naturopaths etc. who may charge less per visit, but whom you have to see regularly - my service is the ultimate shortcut that teaches you to understand your own skin, and care for it in an inexpensive way by yourself.
      My aim is for us to part ways as soon as possible so that you can enjoy your life and not worry about skin any longer. I know many people in coaching programs with acne lasting YEARS with clear skin nowhere in sight.
      The goal of my service is FREEDOM once and for all and that’s what my clients experience. It’s a service that sets you up for life and gives you back your power (knowledge is power after all).
      I took time to master my craft and I continue to hone it every day, so my prices reflect my level of mastery and dedication to the subject.
      Working with me is not a right. I may give out my content for free, but if anyone wants extra personalised guidance and my actual time - well that comes at a premium.
      Nobody is entitled to my time, energy, nor expertise. Period.
      It’s totally fine if you want to balk at my prices, but I’ll remind you that it’s also totally optional to work with me.
      Love,
      Olena
